Adrian sighed softly. He knew it, staying in the Blakes mansion was definitely going to be a mistake. But her family insisted that they want him to put up with them. And now,the first face to come before him was Aurora's.
“Hi,” Aurora said, smiling. She was dressed in a brown designer suit and pants. Her hair is styled with a curly tip. She looked gorgeous and a bit taller than usual, thanks to the high heels.
“Hi” Adrian replied in his cold but masculine tone. He glanced at her briefly and looked away, focusing his gaze on her face. Beautiful as always, he complimented her in his heart.
Aurora stood, expecting him to step aside so she could come in but he remained rooted on the spot waiting for her to tell him exactly what brought her to the door of the guest room where he's spending the night.
“Hmmm, can I come in?” Aurora asked, still wearing a broad smile. She watched as Adrian, with a poker face, nodded and stepped aside, letting her come in.
“Mom told me you're around for the baby shower and hence I came to say hello” Aurora stuttered. She wants to initiate a conversation despite the cold shoulder Adrian was giving her.
“Mm..mm” Adrian gave a low humming. He got back to the closet, emptying his clothes to the closet when Aurora came forward and wanted to assist.
“How have you been, Adrian?”She asked, trying to take over from him but Adrian refused and wouldn't let her help him. This time he didn't respond to her question,he completed the simple task and stepped away from the closet.
Since Aurora doesn't want to leave, he asked “Is there something else you want, I need some privacy now” he stood before her, his gaze fixed on her.
Aurora shook her head and was leaving when she paused and said “Adrian, there's something I've been wanting to discuss with you: it's about Patrick and I” she paused, expecting him to frown but he didn't,he maintained his poker face.
“We are friends and besides that, we're partners. I'm sorry about what I said and did during the outbreak of that scandal, my words aren't real and they are not true…” Aurora concluded.
“Why are you explaining things to me, like I care what you do with your life, your choice and preferences?” Adrian snapped at her.
“I want to clear a misconception Adrian. I have nothing to do with Patrick in the past and in the present” She repeated and Adrian massaged the bridge between his eyes.
“You don't need to go through the stress of trying to clear a misconception at all, you don't owe me that. I wish you both the best of friendship and partnership” Adrian declared, going over to hold the door for her, invariably telling her to leave.
Before placing his hand on the door knob, Aurora blurted “Elsie is your daughter. Everyone knows, except you. Even Elsie already knows that she's your daughter and you're her father”
Adrian paused and for some few seconds, he didn't respond nor turn himself to face her. He'd longed for her to tell him those words back then, but she refused.
“I don't know what to believe anymore. Initially you said she's not mine. And now, you said she's mine. What should I believe?” Adrian asked and turned himself to face her gently.
“I lied to you in the past that she's not yours. I'm sorry” Aurora apologised. She looked away, trying to avoid letting her eyes lock with Adrian's.
“You were a pure woman when you used to be Ava Leon. But now, how many lies have you told me now, Miss Blake to conceal the truth? Do you feel convenient and alright when you tell lies?”Adrian demanded.
“I was mad at you and took away your right to be a father from Elsie. But now, my heart holds no grievance against you, so I don't see any reason why I shouldn't tell you the truth” Aurora explained.
“I will have a DNA to confirm that”Adrian blurted. He believes her, she appeared genuine but then, it's only logical for him to have the test done.
“Sure, fine. But you don't believe me when I say she's your daughter? Are you nursing the ungodly thought that I might have slept with your brother when I was married to you?” Aurora asked.
Doesn't he believe her or trust her? She was true to her vows, despite knowing it was not made from the heart filled with love. But since her lips uttered them, she remained faithful despite his infidelity.
“I don't know what to believe. I won't also believe it that you and Patrick simply acted out a script. I don't care what you have done with your life and with whom you have been intimate with, I will have a DNA test done before accepting Elsie as my daughter” Adrian declared.
“You’ll break my heart if you keep insinuating something filthy. I was faithful to you Adrian and despite your loveless cold attitude, I kept the sacredness of our union.
It was you who cheated over and over. You rather give your body and love to your mistress than spare me a glance. But despite your illicit affairs I didn't ever conceive the thought of filthiness in my heart.
Elsie is your daughter. You made love to me in place of Lola Carrero. You kept moaning her name, assuming you were plunging her body and not mine…” Aurora was saying, seething in displeasure when Adrian interrupted her.
“I later found out I was drugged that night. It wasn't just drunkenness. I don't have a memory of my love making with you and I won't deny whatever you said. But I want you to know that I never slept with Lola, not even once” Adrian's temper flared up.
She knew he was drunk, that's why she wouldn't let him have his daughter for many years now. Does being drunk when making love to a woman make any difference in fathering a child.
Aurora was taken aback. He never slept with Lola Carrero?
“You're lying to me, Adrian. You slept with Lola Carrero” Aurora rebuffed. How can that be? With so much love and readiness to disowned every one in his family because of her, how can he claim not to have taken a piece of her flesh.
“I'm lying, yes. I guess I am not the only liar here. How many times did you get fucked by Patrick when you were my wife?” Adrian gave it back!
