They saw Magda step out of the car in a beautiful wedding dress and holding a bouquet of rose flowers. She looked beautiful and on her finger was a beautiful diamond wedding band.
Jimmy stepped out from the other side of the car and walked over, intertwining his fingers with hers, they walked towards the house.
“Santiago, I'm dreaming. This can't be real, right?” Charlotte asked,her eyes still locked with her husband's. They are married at such early hours of the day?
Who is the fool that joined a couple without family or witnesses? Or could it be that they got some roadside witnesses?
“I wish it's a dream indeed. But this is real, my love” Santiago responded. Without waiting another minute, he got his robe on, wore his slippers and stepped out of the room.
Charlotte too, not wanting to be told what really happened, stepped out in her night dress and went after her husband. By the time they descended the stairs, their family had all crowded round the couple.
“Hello everyone, we are married!!” Jimmy chimed, announcing with excitement and holding Magda's hand up for everyone to see their wedding bands.
Charlotte has never seen such fury in her mother inlaw’s eyes like she saw that morning. Without another word,she walked slowly towards her son and before you could say ‘jack’ her palm went up and descended on Jimmy's cheek.
She slapped him on the other side again and on this side again. Left, right and left again. Her body shivered in fury and her eyes were spitting fire.
“How dare you,Jimmy!” Nancy bellowed. How can it be heard that a son she gave birth to had suddenly turned himself into an alien before her eyes?
“I gave birth to you Jimmy. Simon and I loved you from the very moment we knew we were expecting you. We showed you nothing else but love.
We dote on you and with our lives we protected you. We raised you and made you what you're today. And you dare to disrespect your father and I this way?
Am I even your mother or you got switched at birth. Do I need to get a DNA test performed to ascertain that I truly conceived you in my belly or you're not that child I was pregnant with back then.
How dare you ridicule your family this way and make us appear insignificant? What are you afraid of, who is threatening you or what has suddenly come upon you to treat us this way?
Talk to me Jimmy,talk to me” Nancy bellowed, pulled him by his shirt and dragged him violently until Santiago and Charlotte went to hold Nancy.
“That's enough for you mother in-law. You can't ridicule a married man like that. He's a grown man and has a wife and is expecting a baby. You should treat him with some respect” Magda declared glaring at Nancy.
“Shut up, just shut the crap. The next time you interfere when I am scolding my son, I will take it out on you. He's become a puppy, thanks to you.
And I need to remind you that the grown up man who got into a miserable union with you is the son I carried in my belly for months and gave birth to him.
So he'll forever be my son. I don't know anything about your union with him and hence I do not see you as my daughter in-law. You're not one, and I don't think I will be interested in having you as one anymore” Nancy snapped at her, at this time, her eyes welled up with tears.
“Why do I feel that you have a problem with your son and I getting married? Does it really feel wrong to choose to be married however we want it and at what time?
Every mother is happy to see this day in their son's lives, why is yours different? Well,get used to it and don't disrespect my husband again, otherwise …” Magda was saying when Charlotte interrupted her.

I would advise that you should concentrate on yourself and how to get pregnant again rather than poking your nose where it doesn't belong.
