Aurora was quiet. That's it, he'd always thought she was having sex with Patrick hence he insisted on a DNA before accepting Elsie as his daughter.
“I never slept with anyone while I was married to you and after. You were my first and last man. How can you think of me, sleeping with your best friend?” Aurora bellowed,now her eyes were filled with tears.
Adrian sighed and looked away. If they continue talking, they'll get into a tougher fight. They're fighting already and he doesn't want it to get fiercer than it already is.
“Fine, I believe you. I'm sorry. But I'm telling you the truth when I said I never slept with Lola, not even once. And okay, no DNA, are you alright now?” Adrian asked, now turning away from her to get into the bathroom.
It was only when Aurora heard the noise of the shower that she stepped out. The baby shower was starting in less than a hour. She went to take a bath quickly to get dressed.
How can he not have slept with Lola? Is he so disciplined? She'd thought he gets sexually satisfied back then that he doesn't spare her a glance and was not interested in consummating their union.
But he loved her, she was so certain of it. He kissed her publicly,cuddled her and took her places with him. But beyond that, he never got between her legs?
Now,she thinks highly of him more than she'd ever done. Adrian is just one of those men that have self control over their emotions. She almost didn't believe him a while ago.
In his bathroom, Adrian stood below the shower and let the water splashes over him. Aurora and Patrick didn't really have anything to do with each other?
If he heard her correctly, he was her first man, that's true, he knows that for a long time now but saying he was her last, surprises him a lot.
Anyways, he's glad that Elsie is his daughter. He would love and dotes on her as his girl henceforth, that's what she deserves, the love of her father.
When Adrian eventually stepped out of the guest room to join others, the house was almost filled up. As soon as he sighted Elsie, he blew kisses at her and the girl came running towards him.
“You're my dad” Elsie chimed, circling her hands around Adrian who squatted and hugged her. It's awesome to hold his daughter close without being worried about what anyone else feels.
“Yeah, darling and you're my adorable daughter” Adrian chimed, leaving a peck on her temple. From that moment, the duo bonded. As the celebration went on, Elsie didn't let go of her dad.
It's obvious how they missed each other's company. Aurora kept throwing glances at them at intervals. Soon, she walked over and stood next to Adrian.
He looked cute in his limited edition blue Polo on a black jeans and blue sneakers. His Polo was fitted showing his muscled biceps and his perfect worked out body.
Ladies turned their heads and men admired the cute handsome billionaire and owner of the penguin breweries. When the baby shower was almost over, Aurora thought of initiating a conversation.
“You know what, Adrian, Elsie's baby shower was so interesting. At the time, I was treated like an angel, who just descended the sky…”She said, smiling broadly.
She remembered everything that happened back then. Only a few friends were invited and her family were supportive and kind towards her. She's got a lovely family to inherit after her life within the Lester family.
“Hmmm” Adrian hummed. He didn't say anything else to Aurora and the latter felt disappointed. She tries to initiate a conversation, Adrian would give her a cold shoulder, she tries to get familiar with him,but he's not noticing her.
As the baby shower was over, everyone congratulated the couple. The baby's name is Dominic, it's a boy. Adrian was super excited when he was called Dominic’s godfather.
When the guests have all left, Adrian appreciated Santiago and his wife, Charlotte for the honour to be their son's godfather. He looked forward to when he would eventually arrive.
And he announced that he would be leaving the next morning. He appreciated their hospitality and promised to see them again, when Dominic is born.
“I thought you'd be here the entire weekend, Adrian” Nancy demanded. Just a night was not enough for Aurora to win his heart back to herself.
“I would have considered staying for the entire weekend, to spend more time with my daughter but my grandfather is sick, I need to see him as soon as I can” Adrian explained.
“That's understandable. But I hope you'll come around soon” Nancy urged, wishing there was no reason for Adrian to hasten back home, she would have persuaded him to stay back.
“I hope so, for Elsie and Dominic's sake” Adrian replied. He's going to be a good father and godfather. Isn't that enough to always draw his attention home to them?
“I'll come with you daddy,” Elsie chipped in. She's just got her daddy and now he is leaving again? No way, she isn't going to let him off her sight.
“I would certainly love it that way. I'll ask your mom first and then…” Adrian was saying when Aurora chipped in “We'll go with you” she declared flippantly.
The next morning, Elsie and her parents took their flight and got back to New Jersey. Adrian went with Elsie to see his grandfather. He'd been away from that mansion for a while now.
“Adrian” grandfather chimed when he saw his grandson. Then someone else was holding hands with him, he recognized her, she's his great granddaughter.
He pulled Elsie closer to himself and kissed her. “She's like her, she's just so identical with her” grandfather mumbled. He was referring to his wife, Richard's mother.
Adrian smiled. Everyone who knew granny knew Elsie is her look alike, her twinny she would have been, if they had come at the same time.
“Thanks grandfather”Adrian appreciated, seeing how doting grandfather caressed Elsie's hair.
“How're you doing grandfather?” Aurora chimed, stepping in to kiss grandfather's wrinkled chin. She'd missed the old man, the one who first loved her in the Lester family.
“Oh! My granddaughter is here too?” Old man Lester was excited. Oh sweet. His grandson was there and his daughter. Then his ex-wife.
“Yes, I'm here, grandfather” Aurora responded, bending over, she placed her head on grandfather's shoulder briefly before taking a seat.
“You know I have blamed myself over the years for why I made you both get married. I wept secretly and wished that I could turn back the hands of time. But seeing this girl, who looks exactly like your grandmother, I waved off that regret.
I realized how much I want more of her to grease my old age. And I wish you both plenty of happiness and love wherever you find yourselves. May you both find that happiness in your destined partners…” grandfather blessed them.
“I think, they're each other's destined partner, father”
Adrian and Aurora coincidentally glanced at each other and their eyes glued to each other.
