Jessica settled into her office but she hasn't stopped wondering what crossing boundaries meant or what it is in the Lester conglomerate. She isn't going to take anything for granted.
For Adrian's sake, she would behave herself. And the fact that she'd shared moments with Patrick, she'll do her best to ensure nothing gets into her head to make her misbehave.
By lunch, Patrick sent her a text that she would accompany him for lunch. There isn't a big deal if he invites an employee to accompany him to lunch after all.
It's not like he'd ever invited an employee though,but Jessica is more than just an employee, she's Adrian's friend and his one night lover.
Jessica agreed and by noon, Patrick was stepping out of the company with Jessica. This time, he was driving. He asked his chauffeur and bodyguards to take the time off.
As he sat behind the wheel, the seat belt strapped around him, the car tinted,the atmosphere chilly, the conducive environment made them have a kind of feeling that an average lover would.
Jessica strapped her belt on and remained calm. She wished he was Adrian and they were lovers. He's not him and they're not dating. Her emotions just got tangled up together.
“What do you think about your new job?” Patrick initiated a conversation. The way they stayed quiet was sending vibes and past memories to his subconscious.
Not that he'd really forgotten about it,but he can pretend to have put it behind him.
“So far, it's a great place to work and I do hope to know more than I've known now” Jessica replied. Everything and everyone were strangers to her except Patrick.
“Hahahaha…you'll grow to love this place” Patrick chimed, making a long overtake of a trailer. Patrick is a badass on the steering.
Jessica chuckled and just like that they became open, talking and laughing at every word spoken. They soon enjoyed each other's company until they arrived at the eatery.
As they waited for their order, Patrick asked “How about your mom, will she be joining you here now?” The last that he remembered Adrian telling him was that her mom was the only family she's got.
“Yeah, hopefully and that would be when I've fully settled into my new apartment” Jessica replied, raising her head to glance at him staring at her dotingly.
“You've gotten a new apartment?” Patrick asked. He was going to discuss that with her. Now that she's started a job in New Jersey, it's not advisable she put up in a hotel anymore.
“Adrian has gotten me an apartment” Jessica replied just as their orders were served. She least expected but he did, and what he got her was classical.
“Hmmm..” Patrick hummed. Adrian again. He's got her an apartment. His motive might be pure but he doesn't understand why he cared so much about Jessica and still claimed to love Aurora.
He should stay stick to one of the women and not act like someone who is confused in love. Once he told him besides Aurora, another woman that would have caught his interest was Jessica.
Jessica was not comfortable with the way Patrick replied to her. She glanced at him again and this time, he was focused on his lunch, his face poker.
Did he feel offended that she told him about her apartment or that it was Adrian that got it for her? It's probably the last reason. Is he unhappy with Adrian because of her?
They ate in silence. Patrick said nothing again. He won't be surprised if he finds out that Adrian is screwing her in time to come. He just blamed himself for letting him lose his guard.
He shouldn't have fucked her that night. He wouldn't have this heap of guilt piled up on his conscience. He should never have touched a woman his brother would still be getting involved with.
How is he sure that they've not fucked in the past and decides to keep it a secret just like he did with her?
Oh gosh, his life has become perverted. Adrian and him drilled the same woman? And to know that he didn't use protection was something else entirely.
“Sir, are you upset with me?” Jessica asked, pausing in her meal and staring at her boss with a serious stare.
“Why would I?” Patrick asked her too. What right does he have to be upset with her? She's Adrian's girl and he helped her secure a job she's logically not qualified for and then he got her an apartment.
He's sure, before the end of the day, he'll give her a car as well. And yet, they're not dating. Besides giving their bodies to each other without reservation, what else does a man do for his girlfriend more than this?
Oh, maybe take her on vacation to the most expensive island in the world and buy an entire city for her and Adrian can do that for her.
“Your expression changed after I said he got me an apartment” Jessica answered. That's what she observed though,but she stands to be corrected.
“And that would make me upset with you, you think that way about me? Oh no, I know how much you both have a crush on each other but you can't be together.
At least doing these little things for you like getting you a job, an apartment and possibly a car, that would compensate for what you can't get from him, right?”
Jessica was speechless.
