Tabitha's POV
Upon hearing this familiar voice, I instinctively furrowed my brow.
It was Zander again.
I lifted my head and looked at him with annoyance. "What?"
This guy was wearing a white suit today, and coupled with his handsome appearance, he appeared to be a charming gentleman in the eyes of others.
But only I knew that beneath his seemingly glamorous appearance, there was a malicious heart.
Zander smirked, "Hey, Tabitha, why are you so cold to me? I'm just showing my concern towards you."
"I've warned you before. If you talk nonsense again, believe me or not, I'll break your jaw," I threatened.
Hearing this, Zander subconsciously touched his wrist. "Tabitha, you seem cold and yet have quite a temper. But this only makes me more curious. Will you also show a different face when having sex?"
As soon as his voice fell, I raised my hand and splashed the water in the cup onto his face.
Although I didn't make any big sound or something, the two of us were sort of the center of public attention.
Therefore, as soon as I finished my actions, almost everyone turned their eyes and looked over.
When Phoebe saw this, her face changed instantly, and she strode over quickly.
"Tabitha, what is going on? What happened? How could you embarrass my son like this in front of everyone?"
Zander suddenly put away his arrogant demeanor and showed an aggrieved look.
Then, he said to Phoebe, "Mom, don't blame Tabitha. I just noticed that she didn't look well, and I was a little worried, so I asked her a few questions. Maybe she still holds some complaints against me, and she got impulsive just now."
This mess made the pain in my abdomen grow sharper.
I hissed through my gritted teeth, "You're lying!"
"Wasn't I caring about you? Did I say something that offended you?" Zander showed an innocent look on his face.
He was well aware that I wouldn't repeat the insulting words he had just said.
He didn't care about it, but I couldn't embarrass the Black Thorn Pack.
Now, I totally understood how a bad example could influence a person's nature.
Zander and his mother were the same type.
Zander learned those despicable means from Phoebe so thoroughly, deliberately pretending to be pitiful and creating conflicts against me.
Sure enough, Phoebe immediately started crying and sobbing, "I know you look down on us. You think we don't deserve to be part of the Greenwood family. But Derek's mom, Ambrose, divorced Ambrose a long time ago. My son is also part of the Greenwood family. How could you treat him like this?"
An onlooker echoed at this time, "Mrs. Greenwood is right. Well, I gotta say, in a relationship, the one who's not loved is the outsider. Besides, Ambrose and Andrea have been separated for so many years."
A woman remarked, "I heard that Tabitha was an orphan, and her family had gone bankrupt years ago. Who knows how she managed to get Derek's favor? Maybe she's just a gold digger. Who does she think she is to look down on others?"
Rumors and gossip attacked me from all around, not giving me a break.
I wanted to say something, but the pain in my abdomen made me unable to talk.
If I hadn't just eaten something and taken the pills, I might've already fainted now.
At this time, Zander spoke up, "Mom, don't blame Tabitha. You also know what Derek did to her. It's normal for her to be upset. Besides, it's just some water, not sulfuric acid. I'm a grown man. That's nothing to me."
But Zander's words only made things worse. And people's criticism against me got even louder. "Zander, you and your mom are just too kind. That's why you've been treated like pushovers for so many years."
Phoebe once again nestled into Ambrose's arms and sobbed, "Ambrose, I think we should just leave this place. Nobody respects us here."
Maybe Ambrose was tired of listening to Phoebe's complaints, or maybe not, but he indeed showed annoyance.
However, in order to maintain the dignity of his family, he looked at me coldly and commanded, "Apologize."
