Alpha's Caged Love

Reunited Hearts

Ch. 155 / 159 May 05, 2026

The Alpha's office was bathed in the warm, orange hues of the early morning sunlight, casting a comforting glow over the room. Cayden, Selena, Jennifer, and Dr. Colin sat on plush leather chairs arranged in a small circle, while the council members, Thalia and Ruben, occupied chairs along the office's walls.

Ruben talked with a serious look on his face, and a calm, controlled voice. "I talked to the oracle, and he told me something that was really interesting." His words filled the air with excitement. Jennifer was on the edge of her seat, and her eyes showed a mix of excitement and worry.

Ruben continued, "The oracle explained that Jennifer's emergence from her coma was akin to a near-death experience, a rebirth of sorts."

Selena's inquisitive eyes turned to Cayden; her voice was soft but brimming with curiosity. "Does this mean that you spared Hawk earlier because you didn't want to harm Mum?" Her gaze was steady, seeking confirmation.

Cayden nodded; his expression was pensive. "Yes, exactly. I didn't want you to lose your only parent."

His voice wavered slightly as he acknowledged the gravity of the decision he had made that day.

Thalia cleared her throat, her expression filled with a mixture of sorrow and determination. "What's done is done, and we can't change the past. What matters now is how we move forward together."

Thalia kept telling the unsettling truth about Hawk's actions and the dangerous road he had taken to get revenge on everyone.

"He contacted the mercenaries," Thalia said, her voice full of surprise. "Hawk planned the attack on his own pack to get even."

Cayden finally broke the silence. His brow was furrowed with worry. "What will happen to the Silver River pack now?"

"You killed Hawk, so you are the rightful Alpha of the Silver River pack, Cayden," Thalia said with a smile.

"You have the responsibility to rebuild and lead the pack towards a better future," she continued. "It won't be easy, but with your determination and the support of the remaining pack members, I believe you can bring stability and unity back to Silver River."

"I am not sure if I can do it." Cayden hesitated, his doubt clear in his voice.

Thalia's gaze met Cayden's, her eyes reflecting the solemn reality they faced. "David is a weak Alpha, and the pack is in shambles. We need someone stronger, someone who can lead them. Cayden, I have seen your strength and resilience firsthand."

Jennifer, who had been paying close attention, spoke up suddenly. Her voice didn't tremble, and she didn't change her mind. "I want to return to the Silver River pack."

People in the room murmured in surprise and looked at each other. Everyone looked at Jennifer with shock written all over their faces.

"Not as the Alpha," she clarified. "But as a guide, this pack has been my only home, and despite everything that has happened, I want to turn things around."

Selena couldn't hold back any longer. Her concern was clear. "But mum," she protested. "You've been through so much. You don't have to take on this burden."

Jennifer met Selena's gaze; her eyes were soft but resolute. "Selena, you found your place with Cayden, and I'm happy for you. Now, I want to find my purpose in life. I can't turn my back on the pack that has been my family for so long."

Selena struggled to find the words. She nodded; her voice filled with reluctant acceptance. "If this is what you truly want, mum, then I'll stand by your side, as always."

Jennifer gave Selena a warm smile, and her eyes sparkled with thanks. Selena, thank you. I'll only be a phone call away. I will be here when you have the baby to hold my grandchild."

"Jennifer, you have my permission to lead the Silver River pack. As my deputy," Cayden said, his voice filled with pride and trust. "I know you will lead with wisdom and strength, just as you have always done."

Jennifer grinned. "Thank you, Cayden. I am honoured to accept this role, and I promise to do my best to lead the pack with integrity and loyalty."

Outside, the pack members went about their daily lives, not knowing that the Alpha was having a deep talk in his office. But they could feel the good energy coming from their leaders. This gave them hope they could face the difficulties that were still to come.

*******************************

It had been five months since the terrible events that had shaken the werewolf realm to its core. Life had settled into a rhythm of healing and rebuilding. Amid it all, Selena's pregnancy had become a source of joy and hope, making the pack members happy.

On this warm afternoon, the pack got together in the woods for a loud party. As they celebrated, they laughed and played loud music. Selena was going through her own personal struggle.

She stood in front of a full-length mirror and tried to fit her pregnant belly into a beautiful blush pink dress she wanted to wear to Milli's birthday party. As she pulled at the fabric, her face twisted comically to show how determined she was.

"Come on, you stubborn thing," Selena muttered to herself, her tone a mixture of frustration and amusement. "We've got a party to attend, and you will not keep me from that!"

Cayden, leaning against the doorframe, watched his mate's antics with an affectionate grin. He couldn't help but find her attempts endearing. "Need some help there, love?" he finally offered, unable to contain his amusement any longer.

Selena turned to him, her expression a mix of relief and exasperation. "Oh, please. This dress is just refusing to get on," she declared, throwing her hands up in mock surrender.

Cayden laughed as he walked up to her and used his skilful hands to help her put on the dress. Her mood swings during pregnancy were a constant source of humour for Cayden.

As Cayden fastened the last button, he looked into Selena's eyes, his own filled with warmth and adoration. "You know, you're still the most beautiful woman I've ever seen, even with that gorgeous baby bump."

Selena's irritation melted away at his words, and she smiled lovingly at her mate. "You always know how to make me feel better," she admitted, leaning in for a sweet kiss.

With the dress crisis averted, Selena and Cayden made their way to Milli's birthday party in the pack's heart's territory. The garden was beautifully decorated with colourful banners and twinkling fairy lights, giving it a magical ambience.

As Selena walked into the yard, the other members of the pack cheered and clapped for her. The baby shower surprise was shown in all its glory. Baby-themed balloons, ribbons, and an enormous cake were the main decorations.

Anna, Maya, Kylie, Max, and many other pack members were all happy and excited as they grouped around Selena. Selena got a lot of congratulations and well wishes, and she couldn't hold back her happiness. She smiled, cried, and gave hugs to everyone she met.

Cayden stood next to her and put his arm around her to protect her. He told her sweet words of love and support, which made her heart swell with love.

Then Cayden stepped forward, a mischievous glint in his eye. "Selena, there's one more surprise for you," he announced.

He pointed to the door to the garden, and Selena turned to see Nancy standing there with a big smile on her face. She was with a good-looking blonde man who must have been her mate.

"Nancy!" Selena exclaimed, her eyes brimming with tears of joy. She rushed to embrace her friend, holding her tight. "I can't believe you're here!"

Nancy held Selena at arm's length, her eyes filled with a mixture of happiness and regret. "I can't believe I'm standing here with you," she admitted, her voice tinged with emotion. "I thought I had lost you forever."

Selena's smile was both reassuring and understanding. "Nancy, you did what you had to do to survive. There's no need for regrets."

Nancy's expression grew sombre as she confessed, "I couldn't forgive myself when I escaped without you. I kept wondering if you were okay, if you were safe."

Selena's heart swelled with gratitude for her friend's unwavering concern. "I'm here now, Nancy, and that's what matters."

As Selena and Nancy talked about the months they hadn't seen each other, Selena couldn't help but wonder how Nancy was doing. She knew Nancy had gone to live with a European pack, far away from the trouble that had been in their lives before.

Nancy's eyes grew distant as she recounted her journey. "After I escaped, Zac took me to his pack in Finland. They took me in, and I started a new life there."

"I received news about the pack wars in North America," she explained. "I was worried about you, but I didn't have the courage to come back and find you."

"Then Cayden tracked me down and called me. He explained how you were his mate and that you were pregnant. He convinced me it was safe to return."

Selena only gave a smile. Her journey had not been easy, but she was glad to be where she was now.

"Let's forget all the terrible memories; come on, I will introduce you to everyone." Selena caught Nancy's hand and led her towards the bustling pack of wolves. As they approached, Selena couldn't help but feel a sense of belonging and relief, knowing that she had finally found her place among her pack.
