Eero’s perspective
The old woman smiled at Claudius. It was more of a smirk than just a plain smile.
“Lies? I don't recall telling the Luna lies, Alpha. And even if I wanted to, I can't take back what I had told her.”
Silence once again fell among all of us.
“Claudius, let's go back home. Let's talk about this with just the two of us. You don't have to do this.”
The old woman stared at me, the curve of her lips giving me warmth.
“Luna, this isn't your fault. I've seen this exact moment happening. I knew that I'd be facing the Alpha's wrath today… that this would be the end of me.” She glanced at my belly.
“No! The Alpha's not going to kill you. M-Maybe you've seen it wrong. Your predictions can't be always accurate.” Even when Caspian tried to stop me from coming at her the second time around, I broke free from him.
“Just tell him that you’re sorry! Take you’re your words back so we’re done and through!”
“I could take back those predictions, but that doesn't mean they won't happen anymore, Luna. It’s his fate.” The old woman remained calm.
I stole a glimpse at Claudius. His jaws were clenched as he gave sharp looks at the old woman.
“Alpha Claudius will never be able to sit on the great throne of Regulus. He wasn't born to rule Regulus and the three kingdoms. He was born to become the enemy of its first female Alpha Queen—”
Before the old woman could finish her words, Claudius wielded his sword, slashing the pulse on the woman's neck.
Gasps filled the air, her blood squirtting all over my face.
“G-Grandma!” A young girl shouted. She broke away from her friends who were holding her down.
“Grandma! Grandma! W-Why did you do this to my poor grandma?” The girl shouted at Claudius. And with the same blazing eyes, she turned to me, holding my arm with her blood soaked hand.
“Luna, d-didn't I make it clear when you were here months ago that she is sick in the head?! You shouldn't take everything she says seriously!”
“B-But her prediction about my pregnancy became true…" I mumbled in a shaking voice.
The old woman could be sick in her head like what her granddaughter claimed. But her predictions, most of them, became true. Even her death today, she had predicted it as well.
“If I hear one more ridiculous lie and malicious rumor about me or my Luna, I'll do this very same thing to you,” Claudius said to everyone on site, pointing his sword at the pitiful woman.
He then grabbed my hand and took me away from the old woman, not let go of me until we were back in the sedan.
“Drive fast back to the pack house. I've got more important things to do. I wasted too much time on that old hog,” he commanded.
“Old hog? You killed her like one, and now you are insulting her?” I asked furiously as Caspian stepped into the gas to drive faster.
Claudius remained silent, totally ignoring my charges. I gripped his arm hard until his eyes were finally back at me.
“You murdered an innocent woman in front of her community, and now you keeping insulting her even when she is already dead?!”
“Why is it a big deal that I insulted her? When I was insulted by her, I didn't see you defend my name or honor.”
My hold on his arm loosened. The beast in him was back. I thought I had tamed him, softening his heart.
“I was wrong.” I mumbled.
Claudius tilted his head, grinning to mock me. “Why? Did you think that I'm no longer the cruel Alpha just because I've been nicer and sweeter to you?”
Shocked at his question, I had no idea what to say.
“That's so stupid of you! Have you forgotten how I killed Leo at our ceremony a week ago? If I can kill an Alpha, I can kill an old woman as well.” Claudius' laughter echoed in every corner of the sedan.
“But you did that to Leo with a valid reason,” I countered.
“And you think that my reason to end that woman isn't valid?” Claudius asked back.
Before saying something back, I heard him speak again.
“We're dropping this conversation. It's done and through. You don't need to ask for my forgiveness, but I hope this'll be the last time that something like this happen,” he said coldly.
Back at the pack house, Claudius got out of the car, leaving me behind with Capspian.
“Just do as he says, Luna. The Alpha was mad, but on top of that he got hurt. He molded his life around one goal, to claim back Regulus.”
My hands stopped unbuckling the seatbelt.
“He has given blood, sweat, and tears to be where he's at now, just to be a step closer to the pack and realm that was taken away from him and his father. What would you do if you were him?”
“Caspian, I'm pregnant… And before this happens, I had doubts about that woman and her prophecy.”
“You know what's the coolest thing about werewolves?” Instead of saying something to counter me, Caspian started a new topic.
I looked at him with interest, signaling to him to go on.
“As werewolves, we can always do something to change our life deposed by destiny, and all it can do is to watch us changing our preset fate.
“Are you asking me to help Claudius be the Alpha King?” I was able to read between the lines.
Caspian smiled at me. “Isn't that what you had promised? That you'll do anything you can to see him be the Alpha King.”
For a moment, I forgot about that promise.
“You should go inside now. I just received a command from the Alpha. He wants me to go back to the outskirt.”
“For what?”
“I'm taking warriors and deltas there, making sure that the lycans there won't start a rebellion because of what happened today.”
