The Billionaire's Toy

chapter Sixty Eight

Ch. 68 / 99 Dec 27, 2025

He paused, his eyes narrowed into slits as he stared at me.

He was shutting down again. I refuse to let him, not after all those things he said.

"What?" he asked.

"You heard me, don't act like you don't." I snapped.

His eyes narrowed even more but I met his stare, not flinching once.

"What do you want, Catalina?" he asked,

I kept mute, we were not playing this game.

"You want to be with me?" he asked impatiently.

I nodded, slowly this time.

His face lit up but he clamped down on a smile that was threatening to take over his lips.

He pulled on his briefs and sat back down on the bed beside me taking my hand in his.

"I missed you, kitten. When you told me you didn't want to marry me, I was mad. So mad that I desperately searched for a more willing slave."

My heart divided into two, I was not expecting to hear that.

"But I kept thinking about you. It wasn't the marriage I wanted. I wanted you. And I still want to marry you." he said.

"You do?"

I was confused. A few minutes ago he wanted to end it and now he still wants to marry me.

"Of course I do. I am hoping Zack didn't say things to cloud your judgment."

"Speaking of Zack, you shouldn't have..."

"Released him? You are right, you shouldn't have let him go. I haven't tortured him enough. He should learn not to run his big mouth" he sneered.

I gaped at him, "Really? That's all you have to say?"

He looked at me like I was slow-witted, "Well yeah, he shouldn't have told you all that. It's none of his business."

He laid back down on the bed and pulled me to him, "I missed cuddling with you, kitten. I am glad you are home."

He kissed my forehead and I melted in his arms as sleep took me far away.

I woke up disoriented, I looked around the familiar walls and sighed when the memories came back to me.

My heart skipped as his sweet words echoed in my ears, Killian had said he missed me, and he still wanted to marry me.

Be still, my heart.

I looked for any sign of him and sighed when I saw that he had left.

I guess last night meant nothing to him. I swallowed the tears of disappointment that threatened to spill.

I jerked when the door opened to reveal Killian in his shirtless glory carrying a tray of breakfast.

"I made breakfast for you," he announced.

"Oh, thank you."

I smiled, he was still here. Last night wasn't nothing.

"Eat up, I still have like an hour before I go to work. I want to shower with you so I can apply the ointment for your marks."

"The marks you caused," I reminded him.

"I am sorry, I was angry and jealous." he kissed the side of my head.

I munched my food as he stared at me.

Did he think I wanted to continue this relationship as his slave?

That won't work for me.

Last night served as a painful reminder that he can't change and I wasn't sure if I should live with someone who gets off on hurting me like that.

Will the future me be happy with my decision?

"What are you thinking so hard about?" he asked.

He took my left hand and gently kissed my fingers one after the other.

"What are you doing?" I asked.

"Taking care of you, what does it look like I am doing?"

"I don't know. I am confused."

He dropped my hand as it burned him, "What are you confused about?"

"I don't know, everything. You are confusing me."

He looked at me wide-eyed, "I don't know what you are talking about."

I shook my head, "Of course, you don't."

For some reason, seeing him act so normal like yesterday didn't happen, like the past few weeks didn't matter made me so angry that I wanted to hit him.

"What does that mean, Catalina?"

"Are you clueless? Are you so oblivious to not know that you hurt me with your absence?"

"I already told you I was angry because you rejected my proposal."

"Shut up!"

I stood up from the bed, wrapping the sheets around me. He stood up too.

"Excuse me?"

"Oh I am sorry, shut up master." he let out a growl at the disrespect but I ignored him, too angry to care.

"You didn't propose to me, you ordered me to marry you. When I refused that order, you threw a tantrum like a child and ignored me for months. When I finally prepared to move on, you got angry and whipped me because you thought I was with another man. Who does that?"

He opened his mouth to speak but I interrupted, "Now you see bringing me breakfast in bed and acting like none of those things happened. Well, news flash it did."

My chest heaved after my rant as I glared at him. Killian on the other hand looked gutted like I had ripped out his heart.

"Catalina," he began but paused, he moved closer to me so that we were facing each other.

"I am sorry," he murmured.

"I am so sorry for leaving, you deserve better but I cannot let you go for the life of me. I am sorry for that too."

His gaze looked so genuine and pitiful that I brought a hand to his cheek and caressed it.

"I accept your apology," I told him.

His shoulders relaxed at that as he hugged me.

"I want to shower with you," he murmured.

I giggled into his chest, the shower was never off the table no matter how angry I was.

Don't judge me, you wouldn't say no to a shower too if you were in my shoes.

"Come on, I have to go get ready for work and so should you."

I giggled as he carried me to the bedroom.
