The Billionaire's Toy

chapter eighty-four

Ch. 84 / 99 Dec 27, 2025

I gripped my bag intentionally as I headed down to meet Killian.

I promised not to hide anything anymore but we just made up. There is no way I want to bring up something that would cause tension between us.

I could just play the fool for now.

"What took you so long?" he asked as he helped me put my jacket on.

"Oh, I had to pee." I lied through my teeth.

He stared at me but didn't say anything. That guilt came back with full force.

I was back to doing the one thing he hates.

I tried to talk to him in the car, but my mind was far away as he talked about his meeting today.

A plan that he had in mind seemed to be going well successfully but I couldn't bring myself to pay attention.

Not when my heart was beating like I was running towards a cliff to my fall.

What could be inside the letter this time?

I was almost scared to find out.

"Hey, what's wrong?" he asked.

I stared at the hand that was holding my arm, concern was written all over his face for me.

I opened my mouth to tell him what I found but I shook my head.

"Nothing, I am just tired."

"I will run you a bath as soon as we get home."

"But I have to make dinner."

"I will take care of it. Besides, you are not in a condition to make food." he gestured to my hand.

I blushed.

The ride home was silent and comfortable except for my fidgeting every five minutes.

I felt like a volcano about to erupt, the car was suddenly closing in on me. I found it difficult to breathe and I tried to count to ten till we got home.

The minute we entered the house Killian went into our bedroom to prepare my bath.

I fished out the letter from my bag and tore it open. Curiosity won.

My eyes widened and a tremor went through me when I read it.

It was almost creepy that this person knew what was going on in my life. How on earth could they have heard us fight?

Or that we made up? He or she called me all sorts of names because I made up with Killian.

I was pathetic because I didn't want to fight with someone I love.

I almost scoffed.

I read through the letter and I was kind of relieved when I realized that there were no threats.

The person mentioned releasing something if I refused to meet with them.

I was confused. Release what?

I felt something in the envelope and pulled it out. It was a flash drive.

My brows furrowed and I pulled out my laptop and inserted the drive. Praying for Killian to take his time in the bathroom.

He would shower first before drawing me a bath.

I clicked on the file in the drive and waited. My eyes widened when I saw the image.

Killian and I were having sex. My mouth dropped in horror.

I closed my eyes, feeling defeated. This alone could bring Killian down.

His business partners, friends, investors, and connections could exclude him if this comes out.

Oh my God!

I read the letter again and saw the venue at the far end of it. I nodded to myself.

I would meet the person and end this once and for all. Enough was enough.

"Hey, you can go bath now." Killian's voice startled me.

I shut my laptop with so much force that made me flinch.

"What were you watching?" he asked.

"Oh, I was looking at some files. It's not important."

I stood up quickly and kissed him to distract him. He reciprocated immediately.

"Come on, go." he slapped my ass.

I giggled and ran to the bedroom. My smile faded once I was alone. I slid down the door in defeat.

I knew it was too much to wish for a good day.

There was no way I was telling Killian. He would go out of his way to protect me and I wanted to protect him.

I sighed and headed to the bathroom.

The bath lost all its purpose because it couldn't calm me. I was too hyped up and well aware that I would leave the man that I love.

I walked into the living room where Killian was already setting up the food.

"Need my help?" I asked.

Trying to force the cheerful tone in my voice was more painful than the cuts on my hand.

"No, just sit down," he said.

I did but at the last minute, I headed towards the wine bar.

I grabbed a bottle of wine and two glasses.

Killian was surprised, "Are we celebrating?"

"No, I just want to drink wine with you."

He shook his head smiling. He turned to the kitchen to bring out the food while I poured the wine.

I slipped a pill into his glass as the guilt burned through me.

I was making the right choice.

Killian settled in his chair as we dug into our food.

"This is good," I said.

"Right? I found myself craving for it all of a sudden," he said.

He lifted his glass and swirled the wine before drinking it.

I stared at him, my heart beating so fast that I was afraid he could hear it from where he was sitting.

I pushed the food on my plate as Killian ate.

"Are you lot hungry?" he asked as he lifted a brow to my untouched food.

"No, my stomach is in knots."

"Are you sick?" he asked.

I shook my head immediately. "No, I don't think so. Just been feeling weird."

"We could go see a doctor tomorrow."

I nodded.

"Let's watch a movie, it's been a long we did that," he said.

I smiled, "Yes!"

I ran to pick the movie as he laughed.

Ten minutes into the movie Killian complained of a headache.

"Really? You must have overdone it today."

"Maybe,"

"Come on, let me massage you." I offered.

He laid on his back and I massaged his back knowing he would fall asleep in the next three minutes.

The minute I heard him snoring, I smiled sadly.

I kissed his forehead, "I am sorry, I am doing this for you." I said.

I changed into comfortable clothes and grabbed my bag.

Walking away from Killian has got to be the hardest thing I have ever had to do. My legs suddenly felt heavy as I locked the door.

Tears fell from my eyes as I jogged to my car before I decided to stay.

"Forgive me," I said as the house became a distant image in my sight.
