My brows furrowed showing the confusion I felt.
I looked at Diane who shrugged and sipped her drink, I focused my attention on Zack resisting the urge to glare at Diane.
"Who is she?" I asked Zack.
Zack signed as he shook his head, his face sour like he didn't want to have this conversation, I turned my glare to him with curiosity burning in my eyes.
How can I let it go when they have drilled it into my head like she was some kind of big deal?
Zack kept mute but that didn't stop me one bit,
"Are you going to tell me who she is or should I go around the club asking whoever I can?" I asked him.
Zack rubbed the back of his neck, looking around the club nervously before he spoke.
"Vixen is very famous around here. Everybody knows who she is and what she can do."
I raised a brow wondering how this information was trivial.
"Hell, even Killian knew her,"
My brows came down quickly after his words, Killian knew her?
Shit!
My curiosity rose a bit.
"Did they?" I trailed off not knowing how to ask the question.
Zack shook his head, "No, I don't think so. I hope not."
I pinned Zack with a glare, "You don't sound sure."
He threw his hands up.
"I don't know. Nobody knows if they had something."
That didn't reassure me, I needed more. A part of me hoped what he was saying was true and the other that housed my insecurities berated me for being a moron.
I opened my mouth when Diane laid her hands on my arm, I looked at her and I saw the pity shining in her eyes making me feel even more shitty.
Why do I care?
I was being a moron by asking all these questions like the reason didn't abandon me in the middle of the day.
I hated myself for thinking about him and punished myself for knowing that he wasn't thinking of me wherever he was.
I was stuck in a limbo.
I shrugged Diane's hands off mine and faced Zack.
I didn't care if they looked at me with those pitiful eyes, I was curious and I wasn't leaving here without seeing it.
"Tell me everything," I demanded.
Zack sighed but he gave me a nod.
"Vixen has way too many connections in this club, her clients are mostly government officials and the top men in the city."
I nodded as I digested the information giving him the okay to continue.
"I also heard she has a unique way of pleasing her clients and has never had any issues with any of them, she enjoys it too. That's a plus."
Shame filled me at his last sentence.
Did he imply that I don't enjoy it?
Hell, I can't even decide if I enjoy it or not. But one thing is that I enjoyed Killian.
"So does she make a lot of money from this?' I asked.
Zack shook his head, "No, she is rich and doesn't need to be paid for any of these things but she has a lot of connections."
I nodded my head, someone like Vixen won't ever need to fear being killed by her master.
She was very invested in this life and good at it too.
I felt pride beam from inside me at the faceless woman I just heard about.
I longed to be like her or maybe my fears of being killed by my master won't be instilled in me.
She is fearless and I want that for me too.
"Speak of the devil." I heard Diane murmur.
My heart skipped thinking she was talking about Killian but when I looked, I saw a lady dancing on what looked like a pole.
I rolled my eyes internally, shook my head, and sipped my drink.
My chest burned but I kept drinking hoping it would numb the pain I was feeling.
"That's her," Zack whispered.
"What?"
"That's Vixen." Zack pointed at the lady twisting her body around the pole.
I took one moment to admire her, her body was toned and she looked like she spent more time in the gym than the pole.
I could see the appeal and why men seem to like her. I haven't spoken to her yet and I am already admiring her.
Something hit me, courage of stupidity. We were about to find out.
Emboldened by the alcohol, I sought her out.
I heard Diane and Zack calling me back but I ignored them. I was far too gone.
I approached the stage and stood by the side looking at her. Now that I can see her face, she looks gorgeous.
I admired her a bit as she slid up and down the pole, putting on a show for the clients in the front row.
The men cheered and whistled for her and it seemed to encourage her as she wiggled her butt.
The outfit she was putting on was fit for whatever party they were doing in there. She wasn't naked but with the way men were staring at her, she might as well be.
She held the pole as she lifted herself and turned, her eyes met mine, and held it.
My heart thumped in my chest as we held eye contact, She was still dancing but her eyes were on mine.
I bit my lip and her eyes glinted with something I couldn't put my finger on.
I gave her a little wave and her eyes lit up the more, She slid down from the pole making the men groan out their disappointment.
She headed towards me like a woman on a mission.
"Hi," I whispered boldly.
I thanked the alcohol for giving me the boost I needed.
Vixen leaned on the pillar as she stared at me from head to toe. Finally, she decided that she liked what she saw.
She clicked her teeth and dragged me off the floor to what looked like a private room.
