The Billionaire's Toy

chapter eighty-seven

Ch. 87 / 99 Dec 27, 2025

Killian's POV (Night of the incident)

I groaned as I roused to consciousness. I squinted my eyes as I looked around the living room.

Everything was as it was before I began sleeping but why does it feel like something is wrong?

"Catalina?" I called out to her.

I padded to the bedroom, holding on to the walls for support from how weak my body was.

"Baby?" I pushed the bedroom open but it was empty.

I furrowed my brows when I noticed her running shoes were gone. I went back to the living room to clear the dishes.

I picked up the glasses of wine and paused. My eyes narrowed towards the glass I had. I took such a small amount and it's not enough to knock me out like that.

I shook my head as my mind started racing when she started acting strange. She was fine when we stepped out for lunch.

Her demeanor changed when we wanted to go home. My eyes went to her bag and I picked it up.

I fished out the letter in it, my fist clenched into a fist when I read it.

I searched for the flash to see the video it was talking about. By the end of the video, I was seething with so much anger.

I picked up my empty glass and sent it flying through the air. The sound it made as it broke into pieces brought me little satisfaction.

"Catalina," I mumbled.

Off to play the little hero. I ran a hand through my hair out of frustration. I felt the laugh bubble out of my throat.

"You had to drug me."

I called the police there and then, reported the crime and cleaned up the house a bit.

It didn't sate my anger not even when the police came asking a bunch of questions.

Present day...

Since that day, I haven't left the house in hopes that Catalina would return safe and sound to me.

I brought all my work home. The private investigator I hired to help me look into the matter sat across from me.

"Any suspect you may have?" he asked.

"I have few enemies, it's possible one of them got to Catalina to get to me." I shrugged.

He wrote something down in his book as he hummed.

My mind flashed to a specific person but I refused to speak up. Not when I know how much my blood boiled at the thought of doing it right away.

They dare hurt what's mine. I am going to make them pay.

"Well, I have a list of your enemies. I would narrow them down based on who carries the most grudge." the PI said.

I scoffed.

He saw himself out after asking me a bunch of questions.

I relaxed on the couch with my eyes closed. Of course, the person I suspected was none other than Vixen.

Her slimy nature didn't fool me, you can't hide your true colors from me.

I sighed as a memory came to me.

She came to the club and approached me to be my slave.

I almost laughed at the absurdity but it didn't deter her.

She had touched my arm seductively hoping to elicit some sort of reaction from me but I snapped at her to get her slimy hands off of me.

Her charade dropped a little but I could see right through her. A cunning little thing like her name.

I chuckled to myself.

She attempted it again recently but I chalked it up to her having so much to drink.

Or she would know better than to come close to me.

It was all my fault. Now, Catalina is at the mercy of these animals.

I would never forgive myself if anything happened to her.

I have exhausted my leads including one of the warehouses under Vixen's name. It was empty and it didn't look like anyone had been on the property.

I was running out of options.

My phone vibrated and I glanced at it, it was Diane.

I groaned.

She had been a nervous wreck when she heard the news. I crossed her off the list because I knew who she was.

I didn't have the energy to deal with her for now.

A second later, a text came in from her telling me to pick up.

I did and called her back.

"Killian," she said out of breath.

"What?"

"I need to see you," she said.

"Diane, I don't have time for..."

"Meet me at the coffee shop opposite the parlor. Hurry."

She hung up.

I took my sweet time getting ready. She was annoying and the only reason why I was still tolerating her was because Catalina genuinely liked her.

So I guess she is okay.

I drove to the coffee shop and saw her sitting there, her knees nervously bouncing as her eyes darted from one corner to another.

She smiled once she saw me, and I slipped into the booth with ease.

"What Is it?" I asked.

"I think, I think Zack might be behind this," she said.

If I was drinking coffee, it would have been all over her face.

"Excuse me?" I asked.

I wasn't sure I heard her right. Zach?

No way.

He wouldn't dare touch what's mine.

"That can't be right."

"I know, I did some digging. He has some secret warehouse that I found the map to."

"It doesn't prove anything," I said.

She glared at me, "I don't see you bringing any solutions. She might be in this warehouse."

I stared at her in amusement, "Is that so?"

I could see her patience for me wearing thin.

"Yes, I don't know what you think you are doing but bring her back or I will kill you." she threatened.

I chuckled a little. She was cute but point one for effort.

I grabbed the map from her, "Thank you for this."

I walked out of the shop without looking back. The beast inside me was thirsty for blood.
