The annoying beeping sound woke me up. I blinked to get my sight used to the harsh light.
My brows squinted when I realized that I wasn't in my house.
I started hyperventilating. I could hear the beeping noise increase as my heart rate accelerated.
"Baby?" the familiar voice called.
I halted. My head turned so fast to see Killian sprawled on the chair on my left.
He looked alert.
"Killian?"
I burst into tears.
He crossed to my side quickly and pulled me into a hug.
"It's okay, I am here."
I didn't know what to believe. It was still a dream, I would wake up and face those witches again.
I touched his face to ensure that it wasn't.
"Don't go," I whispered.
"I am not going anywhere. You are safe now."
"Promise?" I asked.
"Promise."
He kissed me lightly on the lips and I relaxed. It wasn't a dream, he was here.
He gently laid me back down on the bed, "Relax, I will take care of everything."
I relaxed.
"What happened?"
"Alice was arrested, she would be charged with kidnapping and murder. She refused to give up her benefactor but I would make sure she never sees the outside of a prison cell."
I touched his arm and he looked at me, his face softened.
"How long have I been out?" I asked.
"Two days." Killian gripped my arm. "Two whole days of not being able to know how you were because the doctors wouldn't tell me."
My heart softened. He sounded so worried that I might cry.
"I am sorry for making you worry."
"It's not your fault, stop apologizing."
"I want to go home."
"We will once the doctor comes to see you."
"Okay,"
He kept rubbing circles on my arm to comfort me.
"Mr. Black, sorry to keep you waiting." the doctor breezed in.
I sat up, wincing when my sides protested.
"Can I go home?" I asked.
The doctor checked his files, "Yes, of course, you are out of the woods. Your body was put through heavy stress."
I nodded.
"Make sure you take this multivitamin and drink enough water. Avoid stress, it's bad for you and your baby's health. So take it easy for a couple of days."
My eyes widened.
Baby?
"What?" I asked.
"The pills are mostly chewable so you don't have to worry about the taste."
The doctor talked till he left.
"Baby?" I asked Killian.
I looked at him, his eyes were wide and he stood frozen from the news.
I felt tears spring to my eyes, I was pregnant.
I had his baby growing inside me. That would explain the feeling of sickness I experienced while in confinement.
Oh my God!
Killian cleared his throat and met my gaze. I frowned when I met his happy ones.
"I am so sorry..." I started to apologize.
"For?" he asked.
"I know having a baby is the last thing you planned. I swear I didn't mean to trap you." I burst into tears.
The words were too hurtful to leave my lips. I didn't want him to leave me now that I needed him.
"What are you talking about? You didn't trap me, I did." he chuckled.
"Huh?" I was confused.
"I thought you were going to leave me so I did the next best thing." he shrugged.
"Killian,"
"I got you pregnant so you would have no choice but to stay by my side even if you hate me."
"Why?"
He hugged me, kissing my forehead.
"I love you," he said.
If it was possible to die right there, I did.
"You do?"
"Of course babe. I love you and I can't wait to see you swollen with my baby."
I kissed him again, this time for confirmation.
Killian took me home. His aura was bubbly and he kept humming to himself.
"Why are you so happy?" I asked.
"I am going to be a father," he said.
His happiness was so contagious that I ended up smiling the whole way home.
The minute we reached the door, I was attacked by guilt. The last memory of me was drugging him and running away.
Like he could read the look on my face,
"Hey, none of what happened was your fault. I am happy you are back home."
He opened the door and my eyes widened. A grin almost broke my face into two.
"Did you redecorate?" I asked.
"Yes, I know you would feel sad if you came and met it the same way."
"Oh my God! This is lovely."
I looked around, the house was filled with my favorite things. The dining table was set with food and wine.
I gave him a look.
"Don't look at me like that, that was before I found out you were pregnant," he said.
I rolled my eyes, "Of course."
"Go into the bedroom," he said.
I went into the bedroom and I was surprised to see a floor trail of roses leading to the bed. The candles were lit.
"You didn't have to do this, Killian," I said.
There was no answer.
I turned and my hands flew to my mouth. Killian was kneeling on the floor with a ring box open.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
"I spent months carrying this around after I told you to marry me the first time. I didn't dare to ask again not when you were a potential flight risk. Everything was going great between us and I wanted to ask again, I hate that this happened to you because of me but I plan on making it up to you for as long as you will have me."
"Marry me, Catalina,"
I narrowed my eyes, "you are not even going to ask?"
"And give you the option of saying no?"
"Yes,"
He slipped the ring onto my finger and kissed me.
"Thank you for saying yes," he murmured against my lips.
"You left me no choice."
He spanked my ass lightly making me giggle.
"I love you," I told him.
"I love you."
