The Billionaire's Toy

chapter eighty-three

Ch. 83 / 99 Dec 27, 2025

I wake up and frown when I feel Killian's empty side. It was cold like it had been gone for a long time.

I sighed to myself, I knew it would come to this.

He left early for work to avoid speaking to me. I don't know what hurts more, him leaving or that he finally let me push him away.

Stupid Catalina.

I held back the tears that threatened to fall and reminded myself that I was strong. I would try to talk to him and put an end to our fight.

I hurried to work and checked his office but it was empty, I checked his schedule and realized he was in a meeting.

I calmed down a bit. He wasn't avoiding me. He was just working.

I used that to calm myself as I started looking at the reports he would need to sign.

I don't know how many hours I worked but he didn't come to the office after his meeting. It escaped my mind since I was neck-deep into the report I was reading.

The phone rang and I nearly broke my arm trying to reach it.

"Mr. Black's office," I answered.

"Miss, there is a delivery for office supplies that needs your signature."

"Isn't there someone to bring it upstairs?" I asked.

"No, it seems they are busy and I was asked to call you."

"Alright, I will be there," I said before hanging up.

I dropped the report I was holding and slowly got out of my chair. I grumbled to myself about how lazy these people are.

I just wanted today to go well so that I can apologize to my man, is that too much to ask?

I got to the entrance and cross-checked the items before signing off on it.

I looked around to see who would help me take them upstairs but nobody seemed to be around.

I stacked the boxes in my arms and the free vase that came with it and slowly made my way upstairs.

I got to the elevator and my heel snagged on something, I lurched forward and tumbled down with the boxes.

The vase broke into pieces and the pieces lodged into my hand, I gasped as pain radiated through me.

I held my hand as the blood poured, I felt tears rush to my eyes as the injury stung but I refused to be weak in front of these people.

I saw them giving me pitiful glances but nobody made an effort to help me up. They probably hate me because of whatever Alice must have told them about me.

"What's going on here?" a familiar voice boomed.

I tried to stand but my heel was broken and it sent me to the floor again.

"Catalina? Baby?" Killian's soft voice called out.

Tears of shame burned through me but I refused to let it fall.

"Let's get you cleaned up," he said.

Without another word, he carried me in his arms despite my gentle protest to not make a scene.

Killian took purposeful steps till he got to the office before he set me down on his sofa.

He got the first aid kit and gently tended to my wounds, carefully picking out the shards of glass stuck in my skin.

I winced when he rubbed the alcohol-filled cotton on my wounds.

"Why didn't anybody help you?" he asked.

I shrugged, "Nobody likes me around here. They prefer their precious Alice." I said bitterly.

He stared at me for a long time not saying anything.

This was my chance.

"I am sorry,"

"I am sorry,"

We both said at the same time. I smiled at him as relief coursed through my body.

I placed my uninjured hand on his cheek, his eyes closed as he leaned into me.

"I am sorry for not telling you. I thought I could handle it on my own. It won't happen again." I said.

"I am sorry for yelling at you," he said.

I nodded as he played a gentle kiss on my palm.

He bandaged my hands till he was satisfied with the result. He kissed it before finding my lips.

I closed my eyes and sagged against him as the tears I tried to hold came tumbling down.

"Why are you crying?" he asked.

I laughed at my silliness, it felt like a part of me had returned.

"I missed you so much."

"I missed you too," he said as he kissed me again.

He broke the kiss off and headed toward the door leaving me confused.

"Where are you going?"

"To fire those incompetent workers," he said.

Okay, that's not what I envisioned happening. I thought he was going to fuck me like crazy on his desk.

But that could wait.

Killian called them into the office and asked why they weren't in their usual spot to intercept the deliveries instead of making me do it.

They stumbled over their words out of fear but he yelled at them asking them not to repeat such or he would make their lives miserable.

They ran with their tails tucked between their legs.

He came back to me with a small smile.

"I am going to go clean up the mess," I said.

"We have people for that."

"I know but..."

"Let's go eat," he said suddenly.

I couldn't say no. Killian took me to a good place for lunch and fed me because I was handicapped.

He didn't let me touch my water. I would have laughed if it didn't make him so angry that I was injured.

"If you missed me so much, why did you let our fight linger?" he asked when he was driving back to the office.

I flushed grateful that he wasn't looking at me.

"I did, I slept in your bed last night," I said.

"Yeah, was wondering about that. I wanted to wake up with you but I was called in so early."

"Don't worry, I understand."

Deep down, I was so happy that it was the case. He didn't leave because of me.

Everything was alright again.

"Go get your things so we can go home."

"Yes sir," I teased.

I went to my office and packed my bag, I paused when I caught sight of an envelope that wasn't there before I left.

I picked it up with shaky hands and slipped it into my bag.

My good mood was ruined.
