The Billionaire's Toy

chapter Fifty-Six

Ch. 56 / 99 Dec 27, 2025

I wanted to get a cab but I changed my mind, the walk would do me good. I could think about the chaos the past few days have been.

As I walked towards the villa, I couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. The events of the past few days had left me feeling drained and overwhelmed.

Maybe taking a break from the chaos was exactly what I needed.

The walk home became long, I didn't mind.

I took deep breaths, trying to calm my racing thoughts. I knew I needed to clear my mind and find a way to make sense of everything that had happened.

The peaceful surroundings and fresh air helped me to relax, and I began to feel more centered with nature.

A lot of things were going through my mind, I needed a break from Killian and I am sure he needed a break from me too.

The tension was getting too much and it won't be long before one of us fumbles and say something we don't mean.

I could stay in a hotel for the time being, time spent with Killian made me realize how much money I had saved.

Both from the allowance he had given me and from my business, I had more than enough to splurge on a hotel.

Despite the physical exhaustion, my mind remained restless and filled with unanswered questions.

I had hoped that the walk would help me find clarity, but instead, my thoughts remained jumbled and confused.

I stopped walking and looked around, trying to get my bearings. I had no idea how long I had been walking, or even which direction I had been heading in.

I sighed to myself as I walked back towards the villa, my thoughts turned to Killian I wondered if he had found the answers he was looking for.

He was angry when he left, I hope he has cooled down, the last thing I needed was to deal with his anger.

When I arrived at the villa, something felt odd.

It was quiet, I shrugged knowing that Killian might be sleeping his anger off while waiting for me.

I entered my room quietly but I found it empty. The drawers were pulled out and Killian's belongings were nowhere to be seen.

I walked from room to room, but everything was empty and abandoned. It was as if he had never even been there.

"What the hell?" I asked myself.

I was already panicking, I took my phone out from my bag to call him but he didn't pick.

"Come on, pick up." I pleaded to my phone screen like he would hear me from there.

I dialed his number again, murmuring to myself.

He picked up, "Killian." I said into the phone.

"Hello?"

I looked at the caller id to make sure I dialed the number right.

"You are not Killian."

"No," the stranger said.

"Who are you?" I asked him.

"Oh, I picked the phone up on the roadside, I don't know the owner. Do you know him?"

"Yes please, I would like the phone back." I told him.

"Okay, ma'am, I would text you the address." he said as he hung up.

I stared at the phone for a couple of minutes till a sigh escaped me.

I opened my bag and carried my wallet with me in case of an emergency, the text came on my phone from an unknown number.

It would be the man's number, the address showed boldly on my screen. I ordered a ride with the address as my destination and waited.

Fresh batch of thoughts occurred to me, I was worried about Killian even when I am not supposed to be.

I was hopeless.

My phone vibrated indicating that my ride was here, I stepped out of the house to meet the stranger.

I got out of the cab and I was standing in front of the coffee shop. The address he sent was a coffee shop.

I stepped into the coffee shop and my eyes zeroed in on the guy with the blue shirt like he had described himself, he was seated by the far end corner of the shop.

I approached him, "Hey,"

He looked up from his phone and gave me a smile. "Hi,"

I sat down as the waitress came to get our order.

"Want to order anything?" the waitress asked.

The stranger shook his head but I stopped him.

"A cup of coffee, please. It's the least I could do." I find him.

He gave me a smile, "Thank you."

He slid the phone over to me, I looked at it and it was broken and dirty like it had been tossed aside.

"Thank you for this."

"Thank you for the coffee." he said.

I bode him farewell and headed out of the coffee shop, I looked down on the phone and sighed to myself.

It still worked regardless of it's condition, I cleaned it with my handkerchief and ordered a ride.

I wondered how I would reach him since his phone was with me.

Did he want me to reach out at all?

I took a cab to the hotel I worked out, someone there could have the answers that I wanted.

I got there and took a deep breath.

"Hi, I would like to see Esther," I said to the receptionist.

She brought out her phone to make the call and in minutes, I saw Esther walking towards me with that signature frown on her face.

"Cataliya, how lovely to see you here" she said sarcastically.

"Where is he?" I asked cutting the bullshit.

"Who?"

"Don't play dumb with me, where is Killian?" I asked firmly this time.

Esther eyed me and hissed.

"Who do you think you are coming here to question me? I am your manager." she threatened.

"Former manager, now are you going to answer my question or you don't know? if he finds out you hoarded this information then you would be in trouble."

"Fine, he went abroad for a business. Happy?" she glared at me.

"Very," I said curtly.

I was anything but happy.
