After helping me stand upright Isaiah walked over to Alaia to calm her. My stomach clenched at the sight. It wasn’t like I was jealous or anything. I was just holding onto a huge secret that I didn't want everyone to know. A secret that involved him and things tend to not stay a secret long around him.
I started to get a little nervous. Alaia was looking at me as if she knew something. Then I remembered Nina spilled the beans at the ceremony with at least half of the people standing here. I knew Isaiah was talking to them while I was leaving but there’s no way they said anything. Isaiah would have mentioned it by now.
He would’ve told Alaia and she wouldn’t be this calm. I stared back at them while they whispered to each other, making the other person smile. So I can just play it cool and relax. If I look like I’m hiding something he might use his Alpha command to force me to tell him. I was actively avoiding Isabella’s gazes which to her means come and hug me. She’s been hounding me all week on what I was going to do and how she hated keeping secrets from Isaiah.
“How is my little trooper doing,” she asked with a wide grin on her face. I actually wasn’t sure who was referring to actually so I chose myself.
“I’m doing great. Thanks for asking.” I turned to leave and to get away from any other questions she might throw at me but Alaia stopped me.
“Zira, I heard you were thinking of traveling. Do you have any places in mind,” Alaia asked and I saw my opportunity.
I looked at her and smiled. “Yes, Luna. Actually I was just talking to Isaiah about signing my paper. I don't want any trouble getting around through other packs but it seems he’s been too busy.” I could feel Isaiah glaring at me but I didn't care. I knew Alaia probably wanted me gone more than anybody. So this might help speed this up.
“Oh really. When do you need them,” she asked and I could almost jump for joy.
“At the earliest convenience. I don’t want to get in the way of his duti-”
“Nonsense,” Alaia said looking up at Isaiah. “Babe, you can help Zira out now right?”
Isaiah looked uncomfortable for a second before looking at Alaia with a smile. “Yeah, I mean, I could possibly have them ready-”
“Today,” I quickly interjected. “If you can have them ready today that would be truly amazing, Alpha.”
“What’s the rush, Zira,” Isabella pouted. “I mean, there are things we should talk ab-”
“There’s nothing to talk about,” I laughed nervously while giving Isabella the ‘shut up’ look. “I’m just excited to get out there. You know, experience the world and all.”
“I get it. I used to travel a lot with my brother to other packs and I’ve met a lot of interesting people. I’ll make sure you get those papers you need. Right?”
“If my Luna says it then it shall be” Isaiah said, kissing the top of her head. She smiled at him in return.
There was a sharp pain in my chest. I grabbed my chest as a wave of nausea washed over me. Isabella grabbed my arm.
“Hey Zi, are you okay? Is it the...”
I swatted her away to keep her from talking. “Of course, I'm fine. Sorry about that. I guess I’ve been training a bit more than usual. I should get back to it.”
I could feel another wave about to hit me. I took a deep breath trying to hold myself together. If I could hold myself up long enough to get home I’ll be fine.
"Zi, seriously you don't look so well." Isaiah looked at me then reached to touch my forehead. Alaia growled and we all looked at her.
“Sorry. It’s just a reflex,” she smiled, sheepishly.
“Guys, I’m fine. Truly. I just need to hydrate.”
With that I turned around and felt the familiar dizziness take over me. Damn black spots coming back with a vengeance. I heard someone yell my name as my body crumpled and I was met with darkness. Why does fate hate me right now?
