“Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you, Mr. and Mrs. Thorne.” There was a thunderous applause as everyone cheered us on. I felt something amazing build up inside me. Like some kind of acceptance I never knew existed. It was breathtaking. So much so, I could barely stand. As if to read my mind, Isaiah grabbed my hand and the sparks traveled throughout my body.
He pulled me close and whispered, “Just wait until we mark each other.”
Something about the way he said that made me shiver with excitement. We made our way to our table that was exclusive to the most prominent pack members. Before we could sit, Alpha Jack and Luna Bella led us to a raised platform. A hush washed over the crowd as Alpha Jack’s presence demanded attention.
He started with a long boring speech about servitude, leadership, responsibility, and companionship. When he started to talk about his time as Alpha, Luna Bella jumped in saving us from another long speech. By the looks of it she noticed the wolves were starting to get very hungry.
“Thank you dear. We all enjoy reminiscing about the past but now it’s time to look to the future and that's you not boring us to death." There were laughs scattered across the crowd before Luna Bella stepped up on the platform. "Today, my son has married this beautiful, sweet young lady from the Blue Moon Pack. I pray to the Moon Goddess to give her the strength and love to care for this pack as I have. Alaia, step forward and say the solemn oath.”
She reached out her hand to me and I accepted. I stood by her side. She takes the ritual knife and makes an incision on her hand as I did the same after. She nodded to me to say the oath as she grabbed my hand. An oath I’ve practiced so many times as a kid.
“I, Alaia Vanessa Thorne, swear to run with the pack. I pledge my loyalty and life to protect my pack. I swear to never betray or sell out my brothers and sister. I swear to lead to the best of my abilities and with our beliefs. This is my wolf’s oath.”
“And it shall be, daughter.” Luna Bella gave me a hug and a kiss on the cheek before addressing the crowd. “My beloved Black Moon Pack, I present to you, your new Luna, Luna Alaia. I hope you will show her the same love, honor, and respect you have shown me.”
There were so many howls and a loud applause I could barely grasp it all. I felt the power of transfer and at that moment the pack’s link was open to me. So many voices welcoming me as their Luna. I was officially a member of this pack. I felt their acceptance flow through my mind like a warm embrace. There were so many, too many. I felt a bit shaky as a spark spread throughout my back. I turned to Isaiah, who was smiling at me.
“It’s okay. It can be a bit overwhelming at first. Just close the link. Like closing your mind from your wolf,” Isaiah said while leading me to my seat.
I did as he said and the voices slowly disappeared. I was glad because I felt my head ready to explode. Before he sat down he announced everyone could start eating. He sat down next to me, wiping tears I didn’t know were on my cheek.
“Are you okay,” he asked.
I nodded. I couldn’t speak after what just happened. I never felt something like this before. It was good. Better than I expected. I sat back and watched as everyone enjoyed themselves. Every once in a while, Isaiah would check on me and every time I would tell him I was fine. It's been a while since someone cared this much.
After eating, Isaiah walked around with me, introducing me to some of the pack members. I met the doctor. She's a fourth generation doctor and apparently looking forward to delivering her first Alpha child. Isaiah then introduced me to his main crew. I already knew Hunter so that only left Jace, his Gamma, and Chris, his Delta. They all stood and promised to protect me with their life.
"And of course your mates as well," I chimed in quickly, making their mates smile as well.
I didn't want any animosity from the girls at the table. Isaiah introduced me to more people and I started to get a hang of everything. This day was getting better until I noticed HER, my little bug Zira. She was laughing and joking around, surrounded by a bunch of guys. Then joking around with my brother. Didn't she have any girls to hang it with? I wondered. Or maybe she's just the pack's slut. She was wearing a pretty stormy gray halter dress with a fitted bodice and shape-enhancing asymmetrical pleats. I wondered if the color was on purpose. It happens to match the color of Isaiah's eyes. I looked away as I couldn't care less what or who she did. As long as Isaiah is not one of them but still her presence was bothering me.
I excused myself and quietly went to a secluded area around the pack house with a napkin in my hand. I drew a rune with blood on the napkin and made my way back to the party. I searched for my little bug and found her talking with Hunter near one of the bars. Perfect. I walked over to Ashlee and placed the napkin on the back of her shoulders.
I whispered while holding my necklace, “Ehwaz, Nauthiz, Wunjo.”
Ashlee jumped up suddenly. “Look at her talking to my mate. He’s MINE,” she growled while walking in Zira’s direction.
This should be fun I thought as I made my way back to my table to watch the show. Sucks that I had to use some of my power. A spell like envy is a powerful one to cast, and spells aren't cheap. This one though. This was worth it.
