I stared at my best friend as if she had three heads. I couldn’t believe what she just told me.
“Zira, I don’t know about this. This could get you into some serious trouble. I can’t believe you can just say it like it's no big deal.”
Zira sighed. “I know it’s serious, Isa, but I’ve thought about this alot. Isaiah has Alaia, his mate. She can give him as many babies as he wants. I, on the other hand, may not have that chance if I go through with this. I had plans, Isa. Plans that didn’t include a baby.”
I shook my head trying to really listen to what she was saying. I knew the odds of her surviving were slim but this was extreme. Abortions wasnt a thing in the werewolf community. She-wolves were actually more desperate to have babies and even more desperate to bring them to term. So hearing Zira talk about getting rid of a baby was ludicrous.
“Zira, this is-”
“No! I have to do this,” Zira yelled at me. She was pacing back and forth, rubbing her arms as if she was cold. “I-I-can’t sleep. My mom and dad keep making plans like I’ll be here forever. I can barely eat, Isabella!”
I was shocked. She rarely calls me Isabella. She runs her hands through her hair, while leaning against the door. I saw tears run down her face and I started to walk towards her only to see her flinch a little. Why was she scared of me? She quickly wipes her face and looks at me with an apologetic smile.
“I’m sorry. I’ve been a little on edge lately. Ever since the ceremony, I’ve been having dreams and each time I’m being killed. Either by Isaiah or Alaia or my baby or the doctor. Even you get a few licks in. It’s just a constant nightmare every night. It’s like the Goddess is warning me what will happen if I go through with this.”
“Or what will happen if you go through with this abortion. This kind of action can get you executed, Zira. You can’t just go and get an abortion and act like it's another day in the pack.” I felt so sorry for my friend. I wish there was something I could do.
“So what? Either way I go I’m going to die. At least this way it’s my choice,” Zira said, throwing her hands up.
“Zira, come on. You’re not going to die. I think Doctor Callie just wanted you to know all the risks. You are strong and you will be okay.”
I walked over to try to hug her and she stepped away. She shook her head and grabbed her arms close against her chest.
“Look I didn’t come here to get your opinion, Isa. I’m doing this. It's my decision and in a week I’m getting an abortion. Will you be my ride or not?”
I didn't answer right away. I had to really think about this. If I help her with this I could get in trouble too. She noticed my hesitation.
“Don’t worry. I won’t let you get in trouble too. You can just drop me off at the cafe near the clinic. That way you have an alibi.”
I didn't like this at all. It was more than being the driver. I would have to keep this secret not only from Isaiah but from Victoria too. I really didn't want to do this.
“Look you don’t have to do this, Isa. Just forget I asked.”
Zira started to leave and I grabbed her arm. “I’ll do it but don’t think I’ll stop trying to get you to change your mind. That’s my favorite niece or nephew in there.”
Zira laughs a bit before giving me a hug. “Thank you, Isa. Thank you.”
Before I could say anything else we got a link from Isaiah. He had some exciting news to share with us.
Omega Mary 270
Finally I was able to leave my hiding spot. The motivation to finish cleaning has left me completely so I decided to leave it for another day and suffer the consequences. Just when I thought my day couldn’t get worse I bumped into Meanie Lisa.
She is the worst of all of us. Although she’s an Omega she looks down on every Omega in the pack. She deems herself as the top of the hierarchy of Omegas. Whatever that means. Every now and then I could escape her bullying except today of all days. She was standing in the hallway with her arms crossed, staring daggers at me.
“So that’s why I was called to finish Alpha’s and Luna’s room. You’re up here gossiping with Isabella and the Alpha’s slut.”
I really didn’t feel like having it out with her today. “Not today, Lisa. I don’t feel well,ok?”
I walked by only to have her stop me. “You’re not going anywhere until you tell me what you three were talking about.”
“I wasn’t talking to them. I was cleaning.” Sort of. Lisa must’ve picked up on something because she looked inside Isabella’s half cleaned room and shook her head.
“Well you must've done something other than cleaning,” Lisa said, blocking my path again. “And like I said before, you’re not going anywhere til you tell me what they were talking about.”
“I don’t remember,” I lied, hoping she would back off. She looked at me for a minute before smiling. She proceeds to crack her knuckles before staring at me again.
“Don’t worry. I know a few ways to jog someone’s memory.”
Oh boy!
