It was nice to be able to put his little “friend” in her place. I needed to lay the groundwork before she thought she could be anything else. Standing here with Isaiah made me feel grateful. Anytime I could have him to myself the more I felt connected to him. Besides, it tamed Elaine enough to get off my back.
“Ahem.” We stopped and saw Luna Bella standing there with her hands on her hips. “As much as I would like to have grandbabies soon, we have a ceremony to prepare for.”
Luna Bella grabbed my arm and pulled me away from Isaiah. I shrugged my shoulders at him while he blew me a kiss. Luna Bella led me to a little suite where a beauty team was waiting for me. In the corner was a table filled with all types of fruit and veggie trays. Luna Bella sat me down in a swivel chair while she explained what she wanted the team to do. This was all foreign to me so I didn’t mind her taking over.
So I sat in the chair as Luna Bella flitted around the room directing the team. I could tell she really loved being the wedding planner and was just as excited about having a daughter-in-law.
“No, no, no. She needs softer colors to accentuate her skin. I want her to shine like the Moon Goddess herself.”
Luna Bella moved back to let them get to work as she watched over their shoulders. She would comment every once in a while how beautiful I looked and I would smile. I loved every bit of it. Remembering what it felt like to have a mother. To have someone care like a mother. Every now and then our eyes would connect and she would have the biggest smile on her face.
After the makeup was finished, the stylist came with tools for my hair. Luna Bella commented that I had a beautiful swan-like neck, so my hair would be up. They started with curls which took a while for hair as straight as mine. They hooked it into a bun weaving little blue and white flowers in. A few tendrils fell on the side of my face framing it slightly. I saw Luna Bella pull something from a box on the vanity. She turned and I saw a beautiful crystal tiara.
“I saw this and thought of you, dear. It matches your beauty perfectly. Just be careful, it breaks easily.”
Luna Bella placed it in my head while the stylist carefully secured it. I was just hoping it would be easy to take out. As they finished the last few pieces of my hair, Luna Bella had Omega Mary bring in the dress. I carefully stepped in the middle as they brought it up to my shoulders. A few adjustments were made including a bustier to push up my girls. I turned to look at myself in the mirror and even I was surprised how everything came out.
The sight made me look ethereal and alluring. The makeup made my eyes look bigger, really bringing attention to the lightness of the blue. My cheeks had a nice shine with pink undertones and my lips looked full and soft.
“You look ravishing.” Omega Mary said with the others nodding in approval.
Luna Bella looked as if she was going to cry. “Any mother would be proud to have a daughter like you. You are simply beautiful darling.”
“Please, don’t make me cry. I would hate to ruin what you have worked on for hours.”
Luna Bella came to my side and grabbed my hand. “Well, it’s time darling. Are you ready for this?”
I nodded because I knew I would cry if words tried to come out of my mouth.
“Take a bit more time. I’ll send your escort.” Luna Bella ushered everyone out the door as I prepared myself for the walk. I looked back at the mirror as a tear fell down my face. I quickly wiped it away, carefully. I looked just like my mother. I really wanted my mother here with me. Or my dad. Hell I would even settle for my brother and just like that he appeared in the doorway. He was wearing one of his two-piece gray suits with blue accents on the cuffs and a white silky shirt. My brother and his silkies.
“Wow.” He said walking into the room. “You look-absolutely beautiful Alaia.”
He actually said something nice. I wasn’t prepared for that and I felt something tugged at my chest. I dismissed and turned away from him to hide my face.
“Well I always looked beautiful, brother. It’s about time you noticed it.”
“I guess it's time for others to see it too.” Zack held out his hand and I smiled, like a genuine smile, before grabbing it.
