Angelo's POV
In my twenty-three years on earth, I have never I experienced so much hate for someone it was almost overwhelming. I could no longer show how irritated I was with him. Even though I was holding Diana in my arms a part of couldn't relax, my body was shaking with pure anger. I wanted to turn into a wolf so I could tear Cam's head off with my bare teeth. That animalistic thinking was not the right thing to do, we could be civil.
Why did he put my mate in a dangerous situation like that? Also, how could he lie to an alpha and try to get away with it?
"It was a secret," Diana whispered in shock still looking up at me. Those beautiful doe brown eyes looking into mine was the only thing keeping me next to her as every part of my body fought against my rational thinking. Now that I wasn’t seeing red anymore I could have better control of my anger.
"What? I didn't tell you?" I asked her acting confused at first before smiling widely, "I'm bad at keeping secrets."
Before she could say anything to that, which she looked ready too, I pushed her behind me because Cam changed into human form. He was naked and that's not something her eyes could see on my watch. He sat there holding his head in his hands making me relax my stance since I didn't feel any sort of threat from him... yet.
"You have to be kidding me," Cam said chuckling but it was clear it wasn't funny to him. "You and Angelo are mates?"
"Yup," I said simply even though I knew he wasn’t asking me.
"I was asking Diana," Cam practically growled snapping his head up towards me losing his cool. I rolled my eyes but kept quiet wanting to hear Diana confirm that we, in fact, are mates.
"Y-yes," Diana said looking into Cam's eyes unsure. I'm sure she didn't want to be in this situation with Cam finding out the hard way but it happened anyways. "Angelo is my mate."
I had to bite down on my lip to stop myself from smiling when she finally told someone. The fact that she didn't deny it made me feel a whole lot happier than I was a minute ago. I didn’t know what Cam was to her because she didn’t want to tell him but I’m glad we could get that out in open. Cam needed to back off of her. I would not let slide what he did earlier either. That was pretty low for the beta of Diana's pack. How could you have your right-hand guy lying? Cam shifted back into a wolf feeling the need to be on all fours as he began to pace around.
"Not yet dead rogue over here." A meek voice said suddenly making all our eyes go towards the rogue on the other side of the burnt down room. He had his arm up in the air and his finger was pointing down at himself. Was he really looking to die? If he didn't say anything, we just might have forgotten about him.
"Die already," I said turning back my attention to Diana who was now standing in front of me. She seemed to be in a deep conversation with Cam through their mind link which caused me to frown since I had no idea what they were saying. Those lovely lips of hers pursed together but I couldn't figure out why.
"Well are you going to finish the job, or should I?" I asked Cam, referring to the rogue who wanted to die apparently. Cam lowly growled at me, answering my question. It looked like he was letting out his anger out on the rogue who tried to claw at his eye as he ended his life.
I'm pretty certain Cam had a crush on Diana for some time now and I figured the sooner he found out that she already has a mate, the quicker he would back off.
"I am going to kill you in your sleep." I heard Diana say in a menacing tone next to me. Her little threat made me smile. Not before I kill Cam, I thought to myself. The fact that she smells a bit like him and... roses made me think he tried something on her. I didn’t even want to let my mind run wild with the possibilities. I already disliked him a lot at the moment.
"I'll make sure to kept one eye open when I sleep," I said back, trying to not smile at my own comment as I watched Cam swiftly end the rogue's life by going in for his neck. Diana is my mate and everyone else will soon find out about it. As I said before, I'm bad at keeping secrets.
Grabbing Diana's hand I noticed she was holding something hard enough it was making her knuckles turn white. I took it out her grasp to see it was a six-point star pendant.
"Why do you have this?" I asked as Cam ran off to god knows where without saying another word like maybe congratulations. Diana's eyes were glued to Cam's disappearing brown wolf before she looked down at what I took a hold of.
"I found it here," She whispered back focusing on it now that Cam was gone. "Maybe it has something to do with my brother's death. I don't believe that rogues alone were able to take down my brother like that."
I lifted an eyebrow surprised with what she said, it actually made sense. Rogues were strong because they fought like they didn't care that they died, but they could never kill an alpha so easy. "This pendant is related to black magic. Mostly all the witches I know are in convents that do not associate themselves with that."
Diana grew interested in what I had to say as she gave me her full attention now. Those eyes of her looked up at mine intensely.
We discovered a clue to her brother's death. "If rumors are true that he died in a house fire, black magic could be involved."
