Diana’s POV
Sitting on the wooden chair cross-legged, facing the open window, I watched in a dream-like state as the sun slowly rose through the top of the trees. The warm sun rays turned the cloud of mist surrounding the trees a stunning hue of pink and orange against the pale blue sky for a couple of minutes.
“Bring me two plates of breakfast up to my room,” I heard Benjamin ordered to his two members of his pack as he left the smaller building next to his house. He was dressed in casual blue jeans and a white shirt that was surprising tight on his arm muscles meaning he was just done doing his morning workout or he was showing off how naturally built he was. How early does this man wake up?
I can barely roll out of bed in time for our lessons. My hair was a mess of curls around my face and I was still wearing the clothes from the night before. I’m pretty sure I still had some eye boogers in the corner of my eyes. I rubbed my eyes and yawned out my frustration.
Benjamin stopped in his tracks down below to stare up at me all of the sudden.
“Good morning!” He greeted smiling brightly, his face practically glowing as the warm sun rays hit his face. Those light blue eyes sparkled in the sunlight like diamonds.
I let my dissatisfaction of being so chirpy so early show on my face before giving him the finger. Like a squeaky toy ball he didn’t let that take him down, instead, Benjamin laughed it off before stepping into the house. His manly chuckle echoed off the walls.
Not shortly after, Benjamin fumbled with the lock on his bedroom door before opening it and stepping in. I turned around to face him slowly in my chair as he noticed I was still in silk black shorts and top he gave me yesterday night after he ran out of sweats for me to wear. Apparently these were from a fellow pack member and for that I was grateful. His smile slowly slipped off his face as those eyes traveled down my exposed legs. Those eyes left a trail of raised goosebumps on my skin wherever those eyes looked.
“I have never woken up at 6:30 four days in a row,” I mumbled crossing my legs as a chill ran up them. “Don’t expect me to leave this chair for the next thirty minutes until my body learns how to function again.”
“I don’t mind,” Benjamin said snapping out his own thoughts. “Since you have been doing so good I thought we could eat first before we start our training.”
I nodded silently in return as he sat down on the open chair next to me, facing the desk that was against his window. His books of magic and wonders were all spread out messily on the desk so he started organizing. Soon there was enough space for us to place our food and eat. His hairless arm would rub against mine ever so often I think he was doing it on purpose.
It was too early for his flirting, I needed some food in me before I called him a hairless mole rat out of annoyance.
The delicious smell of pancakes, hash browns, and bacon waffled over to me and I snapped my head to see a pack member of his had stepped into the room to hand us each a plate. I smirked at Benjamin when I noticed I got the bigger plate while he just rolled those blue eyes at me. I had a thing for food.
Once my stomach had food to process, it finally gave me the energy I was missing. I turned towards Benjamin who was still eating his pancakes. Maybe I was more of a fatass I than I thought, I did after all finish that in less than three minutes. Was it a new record for me? Possibly.
“It has been four days and I’ve only read about magic. Certain spells and whatnot. When am I going to do the real stuff? The kind that will help me control my power?” I asked him, leaning my elbow on the table and resting my chin on my palm to look up at him. The syrup from the pancakes dripped down the corner of his lips and I found myself wiping it off with my finger before licking it off. He froze not believing I just did that. I didn’t mean to draw attention to me by doing that but those eyes began smoldering me after what I just did.
I cleared my throat before saying, “I’m a fatass, that was not flirting. I won’t do it again, promise!”
“You’re welcomed to do more, I just see you have Angelo’s mark is all,” Benjamin said as he eyed the red mark on my neck that resembled a hickey. It was my only reminder of Angelo at the moment.
“He marked me,” I said hand automatically going up to touch it as I watched him draw in his dark blonde eyebrows together at my words, processing them.
“Did you mark him?” He questioned looking right into my eyes, holding in a breath, his chest going very still as if to lessen the blow of what I was going to say next. In werewolf terms marking each other meant sealing the deal of being mates. Benjamin was just being sly about it but I knew what he was really asking.
“I didn’t get the chance,” I said watching carefully as he slowly let out his breath to mask his emotions. He looked away for a second and smiled before nodding and getting back to the topic.
“I see,” He messed with his hair for the third time we have been talking before saying. “Well, you think you are ready with magic?” He questioned sitting straight in his chair as he noticed I was giving him my full attention now.
“I do,” I said eyeing the last piece of bacon strip he had on the plate. “Are you going to finish that?” I smiled when he simply handed me it without fighting me for it like my brother would have done.
“Alright, since you think you are ready, we will open up the magic locked inside of you. The kind you inherited from a family member that is in your bloodline. This will let you do small spells.” Benjamin grabbed both our empty plates and put them in the trash before turning around clapping his hands. “First, you’ll need to change because you are too distracting.”
I raised an eyebrow at his words, “Because I’m too ugly, wow, that hurt to hear.”
“No, I meant-” Benjamin try to say before getting cut off with me storming over to the closet and locking myself up inside. I was messing with him, I knew what he was trying to get at.
“No, it’s okay. I needed a punch to my ego. Without Angelo around, I’m not even trying to look normal anymore.” With the mere mention of Angelo, Benjamin shut up in his spot. He only grunted in response as I went through a challenge of figuring out what I want to wear when I was in complete darkness. Dam, I’ll have to figure it out by the feel of the clothes, these weren’t even for women so it was already complicated. The scent of lavender with the scent of rose was a little too much for me to handle being locked in here.
Once I felt comfortable enough I busted out the closet because it was getting hot in there. I looked down and realized it was not half bad. Grey ripped up shorts hanging low on my waist showing the guy underwear I had to deal with right now. I can’t believe they didn’t have an extra pair of clothes for when they kidnap someone. No one could come in or out so they couldn’t just go buy me clothes and they were too lazy to ask around. I wore a tight black workout shirt that hugged my upper body very well. I couldn’t believe Benjamin owned something like this, probably to show off his muscles like the tool he is. It was so stretchy but lightweight that it felt like a new skin, I think I rather liked it.
Benjamin's eyes widen when he saw the shirt. “Not that one. It’s my favorite.”
“It’s mine now,” I said ignoring those angry blue eyes and flipping my hair my mess of curls over my shoulder. My hair was too untamed to be able to fix so I left it alone. I headed to the bathroom quickly and washed my face with cold water before walking back into the room feeling refreshed.
James arrived in similar shorts as mine and an oversized green sweater. His hair was tied back in a bun showcasing the handsome facial features he inherited from our mother. I will always be jealous of his long black eyelashes, not fair at all.
“Did you already eat without me?” James asked shocked to see our plates were in the trash can.
“Sorry, not sorry,” I said shrugging my shoulders and having the motion cause my shorts to slip down low. That was going to get on my nerves if I have to keep adjusting them every second. “You were late.”
“I was talking to-” James cut himself off while quickly looking at Benjamin like he was going to give something away. I noticed this little look and raised an eyebrow at him.
“Talking to who?” I questioned taking a step forward as Benjamin gave my brother a cold look because it was too late to lie to me now.
“He was talking to Cam over the phone, getting details of what is going on with both packs,” Benjamin said as my eyes drifted down to my brother’s pocket where the silhouette of the phone showed through.
Not a second later I jumped James to the ground and only got away with it because they did not expect that from me. Benjamin pulled me off but not before my tiny hand slipped into his pocket to grab the phone. I got out of Benjamin's hold quickly before I turned on the phone by pressing the home button many times. It was scary good how I was avoiding his hands that were trying to grab it away from me. Benjamin lunged at me all of the sudden and I moved the last second so he would hit the bed instead of me.
“Since when are you so good at dodging?” James questioned surprised that I wasn’t the same little sister he left behind. It struck a nerve inside of me to heat that, meaning he didn't believe I was capable of becoming better than him in something.
“Since you left I have been dodging everyone’s bullshit, brother.” I shot back, noticing I had almost dialed all of the numbers for my father’s phone when I glanced up to noticed they were corning me against the wall. “Okay guys, I need at least 10 minutes with him. I feel like I am in jail so you gotta at least give me some rights!”
Jame’s glanced at Benjamin who was trying to control himself from attacking me and easily taking the phone out of my grasp. He also didn’t want to get on my bad side and forcefully take it as his inner alpha wanted.
“Fine, ten minutes.”
