Diana’s POV
I felt drained but I kept pushing through, trying to spot Angelo through the mass of bodies fighting. Yet, I couldn't see him only feel him through the mate bond as he felt pain from blows of our enemies. As long as that line didn't get cut off I was fine.
"You need to take a break." One of the younger girls protecting me said stopping me by laying a hand on my shoulder. She had short brown hair and two different colored eyes. I heard Armando call her Jenna earlier.
"I'm fine, Jenna," I breathed in deeply and felt a sharp pain in my lower back. The fingers on my right hand felt numb and cold like I had frostbite. Looking down I saw they were turning black on the tips.
"That can't be good," Armando said and I curled my fingers in to hide them.
"It will go away, just using too much magic too fast," I said watching all the wolves around us fight to the death. Many of the wolves I saw I recognized. I trained with them and did pranks with them on lazy days where no rogue was in sight. Each drop of blood that fell from them was building up inside me. All I wanted to cause the same damage to this Jason guy. Anger never left me with a clear head so I breathed in a couple times to cool down.
Suddenly every wolf we were fighting stopped and slowly turned their heads towards us. Or more specifically me. Immediately my little group surrounded me in a second, keeping me in a protective circle.
Three other people joined us to fight them off and that took balls because we were the main target now.
My hands shook as each wolf came towards us with razor sharp teeth showing. People were chasing them down from behind and fighting them for me. But even the ones without hearts seemed to come back up, their dead black eyes fixated on me as black magic took over their corpse.
A brunette lady was attacked first and no one saw it coming as she was pulled into the mass of wolves surrounding us. Her cries resonated in my ears. My chest felt painful tight knowing she couldn’t survive that. The group of four closed in tighter around me, leaving no space.
Armando got pushed down to the ground in front of me with a huge black wolf on top of him, slobbering blood on his face, inches from biting his head off. I quickly kicked the wolf's head and he fell over onto his side. I grabbed the wolves head in between my hands and drain his life to heal myself up, letting my anger channel my dark side. The wolf cried out and thrashed around but my hold was rock hard. It turned into a pile of bones and dead fur when I was done. Armando didn't say anything but I could smell his fear. He has never seen that before, he was definitely traumatized now.
My fingers were back to normal and my breathing was to under control again. I stood up slowly from my knees. Although I had recharged, I was still mentally tired. Tired of all this of fighting and death all around me. I wanted to go back to the day I meet Angelo and stay in his arms as he crashed in my bed drunk as hell.
Suddenly something in the mate bond was wrong. It was getting weaker. Angelo must have gotten injured badly. Yet, I couldn't go to him since I was surrounded. I was stuck here surrounded by these wolves that would not fucking die and quit.
A black and white striped wolf managed to jump into the circle but what I needed at the moment. I tried to grab it as I had done with the other one but this one tried to bite me as he slowly turns into nothing. With that power still inside of me I sent it to Angelo through our mate bond feeling it get stronger.
When I thought everything seemed to be going okay I spotted my father in the distance. He was running away from a wolf on fire, that wolf was trying to burn him to ashes. His blue flames would certainly do big damage.
"My father is coming to the circle. Help him out!" I told them and Jenna stepped out while the rest closed in closer so no wolf could get to me. She transformed and flung the wolves aside making a pathway for him as he came closer.
I could only watch as he neared closer, the wolf behind him right behind his tail. I swallow down the taste of blood and gritted my teeth since I couldn’t do much but watch. The wolf made the last jump for my father and I held my breath. He would have gotten My father on the neck if it wasn’t for Benjamin. His black magic droplet surrounded the wolf causing smoke to erupt before dropping the lifeless body onto the ground. My father made it to the circle with the help of the member who risked her life to help.
I hugged him tightly, sighing in relief. He collapsed on the ground the next second breathing hard. I saw puncture marks on his stomach just pouring a vast amount of blood. I laid my hand on it and tried to heal him but it wouldn't work.
"Come on!" I yelled to myself in anger. My father was starting to choke out blood through his mouth. I didn't know I was crying until Benjamin wiped the tears and made me look up at him. When did he join the circle? I notice his black magic droplet was surrounding the group like a tornado making the wolves hesitate on attacking us. He was giving my people a break and protecting me against them.
"Focus!" Benjamin yelled at me, making sure I had his full attention.
Everything around me started fading, the only thing I would hear was my father's, weak heart. I nodded at him and he let go so I could lay my hand on my father and feel the blood gushing out. Slowly my magic started to heal him and I felt the familiar burn running down my veins on my right hand.
"Thank you," I croaked out. "For helping."
"I promised your brother I would protect you from Jason when I found out it was you that could heal,” Benjamin said ignoring my eyes burning into him.
"We both know that's not why you're helping," I said causing him to look at me this time. He had blood on his lower lip and some running down his left cheek. It made him look deadly, not someone you wanted to mess with.
"It's not my fault I found my mate but she's already taken. Maybe it's karma for everything I've done." Benjamin whispered looking away from me again. His baby blue eyes were sad but he still gave me a smile. "What I feel isn't going away so I might as well help you."
I stood up when I noticed the dead wolves were starting to retreat.
"He's drawing you out. He wants you to come to him." Benjamin said next to me as I kept my eyes on our enemy.
My father's eyes weren't open and I didn't think he was awake but he was trying to say something through the pack bond.
"He... he has Angelo."
