Diana's POV
I could have died from shocked when my mother said that with a black eyebrow raised and a smudge smile on her lips.
Angelo's body froze under me probably thinking back to her earlier threat. I tried to get off Angelo but he recomposed himself and still held me in place causing me glare at him. This was not the best way for my mother to see us together. She might get ideas.
"You know what, Mrs. Harris?" Angelo asked my mother still not letting me go, even started rubbing circles on my thigh with his thumb. If I wasn't still in shocked, I would have put up more of a fight.
"I knew you were her mate right when I set eyes on you!" My mother said in a high-pitched voice but then quickly cleared her throat and calmed herself down.
"How can that be-" Angelo began but was cut off.
"I want grandchildren!" She shouted suddenly cut me off and her sentence made my cheeks burn in embarrassment. What kind of normal mother shouts that?
"Oh, I'm sure we can have some mini Diana's running around here in no time, right love?" Angelo asked me with a highly annoying grin. He was happy that my mother found out!
"No," I answered bluntly, angry that my mother was making a big fuss. I did want children but somehow it brought butterflies into my stomach just thinking about having a family with Angelo. I would be a wife to Angelo and a mother to mini versions of us. I was not ready for something like that yet.
"Oh, I have to tell your father about the great news!" My mother totally ignored my answer which was meant to put her hopes down.
"You can't tell dad!" I nearly yelled, stumbling out of Angelo's grip to stand in front of my mother.
My mother's green eyes looked into mine crestfallen, "Why?"
"Because... it's a surprise..." I started to make up on the spot. Turning to look back at Angelo I noticed a flash of pain pass through his eyes again but then he smiled, covering it up. My mother though whispered the last word I said, curious as to why it would be a surprise.
"For... his birthday..." When was his birthday? Damn, I am such a bad daughter I forgot my father's birthday!
"But that's in three weeks!" My mother's loud voice shocked me but her mood swings change all the time so I ignored it.
"Can you keep it a secret?" I asked putting my hands on her shoulder to look into her green eyes.
"Fine," She huffed disappointed as she walked out of the room.
"I'm serious mother, you have to promise me." Closing her eyes, she released her breath through her nose, annoyed. She always told my father everything, they've never held secrets from each other. One of the many reasons they worked together smoothly.
"I promise," She whispered finally looking at me with some compassion. "And Angelo," My mother called out to him making him raise his eyebrows in her direction. "If you touch her or mistreat her, I will cut off your balls and feed them to the rogues." She warned again but this time she was smiling so it looked scarier than the first time she said it.
"I want children. Thank you very much." Angelo joked before she turned around left the room, not before looking back at Angelo and pointing two fingers at her eyes then back at him. Saying she was watching him. What a loving, protective mother I had.
Right, when she closed the door Angelo grabbed me from behind causing warmth to spread out from my chest to feel his arms around me. "How about we start working on making mini Diana's?" He whispered seductively in my ear, even going as far as bitting my earlobe.
"I should go check that she doesn't blurt it out right when she sees him." It took all my power to resist him but I did making Angelo groan in annoyance. His seductive charms weren't going to work on me right now. What just happened was a wake up call, I couldn't let anyone else find us out.
Opening the door, I came to face with a man's chest only to glance up and see it was Cam standing outside the door. He was seconds from opening it. Good thing my mother came or he would have seen us instead, I don't think I could have resisted Angelo if my mother didn't show up. These feelings were easy to push down but they would squirm their way back up. Cam's light brown eyes looked down straight into mine and his face softened a bit.
"Your father wants us to pick up the groceries," Cam said and I simply nodded making a possessive growl come from Angelo as I did. He was making his distaste of Cam very clear now.
"Is it only going to be you two?" Angelo questioned, jealousy reeking off of him. I raised an eyebrow at him but he wasn't looking at me right now.
"Yes, is that a problem, alpha?" Cam spoke in a sneering manner which made Angelo clenching his jaw repeatedly. He was trying not to punch him again, I can tell.
"I'm going as well." That sounded like a demand, but it didn't seem to have any effect on Cam this time. He actually smirked back at him before he started talking.
"Actually, Alpha Harris wants you in his study room to talk about recent rogue attacks and plans to deal with them, so if you will excuse us." Cam then turned around and walked down the hallway making me follow after him quickly since his strides were longer than mine.
A trip downtown, along with Cam, great... note the sarcasm.
