Diana's POV
We were waiting in a huge line to pay when Cam sneakily put his arm around my shoulders. I quickly faced him ready to tell him off but he only kissed my cheek shutting me up in pure shock. He had never kissed my check before so it threw me off. My snappy tongue had been extinguished.
"Please help out. I don't like getting asked out all the time." Cam whispered in my ear while glancing back at the group of girls that we were eyeing him up. He was a well-groomed man that called for attention but it rolled off my skin not affecting me in any way as it did for other girls. He packed muscles and the way he was dressed in red flannel and black jeans made him look like a lumberjack of their dreams.
"Boo hoo, I don't like getting death glares all the time because they think I'm with you when I’m clearly not," I responded, trying to get him to let me go by squirming in his hold that only tighten in response. Unfortunately, I could already feel girl’s burning eyes on me so it was too late now. Besides he would help me out if I needed it, no matter how ridiculous it was.
"Fine," I gritted out and relaxed in his hold. My mind wandered to Angelo and something in my stomach fluttered just from thinking about him. That can't be butterflies... I've never had them so it's probably just my stomach growling for food.
"Buy me chocolate, lots of it," I demanded looking up at Cam's light brown eyes.
"Sure thing, cupcake," Cam said a little too loud while making sure to press me up against his hard chest. I noticed he was looking over at someone so I quickly grabbed a lot chocolate and dumped it in the cart before he could look back.
For some reason, I felt like if anyone was going to call me cupcake it should be Angelo. I was actually letting it sink in that he was my mate in the sense that he was my soul mate. It felt weird only because I didn't know much about him, just that can make me forget about my alpha duties. Which is not a good thing, I needed to become better and exceed my father’s expectations.
"I'm driving this time." Cam declared when we were finally out of the store pushing the wobbly cart towards the car like the good fake boyfriend he was. I just shrugged my shoulders and handed him the keys while stuffing my mouth with the chocolate he bought me, leaving stains on my shirt because it was melting already. Cam only raised an brown eyebrow at me but didn’t say anything. He didn’t give a limit on how much he was going to buy so I took advantage of it.
Once we were seated and ready to go, he faced me and said, "Do you need to go to the bathroom before we leave?"
"Shut up and drive, cupcake," I said glaring at into his honey brown eyes. He was treating me like a little kid by asking that. Cam laughed before starting up the car. My heart started pounding against my rib cage in fear when he sped out the parking lot, almost running over an old lady in the process.
"I'm going to make a stop somewhere do you mind?" Cam asked over the loud music. My only response was gripping my seat belt tighter when he turned a sharp corner.
"I'll take that as a no." He mumbled smiling and turned his attention back to the road. What the hell have I've gotten myself into?
Angelo's POV
Sitting in the chair facing the desk, I waited for Mr. Harris in his study. I really wanted to be next to Diana instead of wasting my time here. We already discussed a lot about our plans to fight the rogues coming closer to our lands.
Someone entered and not soon after I felt a long fingernail trace my cheek causing me to turn my head away from their touch. It was Nickie dressed in the tightest red dress you could possibly wear without losing circulation.
Confused, I thought she would explain to me why she was here and not Mr. Harris.
"Cam told me Alpha Harris wanted to talk to me here," I said watching her sit down on the desk facing me with legs wide open. I swallowed down my disgust at the image.
"Did he now?" She asked giggling moving her hair over her shoulder. What was so fucking funny?
Nickie must have seen how my eyebrows were drawn together in confusion because she giggled some more before saying, "Alpha Harris didn't ask you to come here. I did."
Wait, so Cam lied to me.?
“I thought we could do some role play here, alpha,” Nickie said raising her leg so that her six-inch heel would be pressed against my chest. I knocked it aside annoyed.
“Is that what you thought?” I asked finally getting to my breaking point with her.
Nickie nodded at me and took advantage of my open lap by taking the liberty to sit on it. I stood up quickly afterward causing her to fall to the floor in shock. Maybe it was mean that I didn’t care that she fell on her ass. I did not have time to deal with her crazy ass.
“You thought wrong,” I said stepping over her to walk towards the door.
"Where are you going?!" Nickie whined getting up, stumbling a bit with those huge heels. She managed to throw herself against the door with her hair flying in front of her face in a mess, making her look really desperate. I was actually taken back that she really was going to try to stop me from leaving.
"Where am I going? I'm going to punch Cam in the face again." I said while the anger I was holding back boiled out of me. Nickie’s wide green eyes looked into mine and finally saw the power I’ve been kindly holding back from her. I really didn’t like being lied too. Nickie swallowed hard before she took a step to the side to let me leave, knowing I had enough of her games.
