Diana’s POV
Once my Benjamin was out of sight I tried to explain to Angelo what was going on with me to the best of my ability. “I have black magic inside me that lets me heal because of the unique bond we share. You’re the yin to my yang.”
“Wait, how do you have black magic inside of you in the first place?” He asked confused, drawing his thick eyebrows together as he looked at me. I couldn't help admire how good looking he was right now, momentarily distracting me from what we were currently talking about. The hair on his chin and jaw was starting to grow back giving him a slight shadow that made his face features pop.
“I have no idea but it’s been inside me all this time,” I confessed, also pondering over this fact. I never felt any different in all my twenty-one years of existence.
“How do we take it out?” Angelo asked making me purse my lips together because he wasn’t going to like my answer. It caused me to hesitate before I answered him.
“There isn’t,” I whispered. “Eventually the more I use it the more it will grow inside me until it takes over.”
“There has to be a way around this.” Angelo shook his head not wanting to believe that there was nothing we could do. I was accepting the fact that at some point I will most likely die from my own power. It was making me appreciate the little things in life.
“Most black magic is channeled through a gem, but in this case, the black magic is already inside of her. It picked her as a vessel.” James said explaining it better to Angelo. There was no going back once you started using it. There was no running away from something that was already inside of you.
Angelo sighed and rubbed his temples with his fingers as a headache was starting to form. I watched him close his grey eyes tightly as a way to deal with the pain. “So you have been basically cursed with this gift?”
That was a good way to look at it because I didn’t choose for this to happen. “Yes,”
“Alright, what else do I need to know?” He questioned opening his eyes and looking right into mine with such intensity. I had a feeling he was talking about Benjamin but I didn’t know how he would handle it. All this magic stuff was already a lot to take in at once.
“Um, I have this wooden knife to help me channel my magic. Benjamin thinks I’ll go apeshit if I don’t have it and I think he has a point because I tend to get mad easily.” I said taking it out my pocket to show him. Angelo gently took it out my hands and stared at the marking engraved into it before running a finger through them.
“Have you learned about these markings?” He questioned very seriously like it was a threat instead of good. I couldn’t see Benjamin trying something, sure he kidnapped me but I needed to learn about magic all on my own. It was definitely more complicated than I first thought.
“I haven’t. I only know the basic markings right now.” Angelo clenched his jaw tightly stopping himself from doing something he would regret. I saw how tightly he was clenching the knife and if it was real he would have cut himself. I took it away from his hands as he looked away from me. He didn’t want me to see his vulnerable side in those grey eyes of his. Magic was totally out of his element, something he could not fight against physically.
“Hey,” I reached up o lay my hand on his cheek so he would look down at me. Those grey eyes looked sad as I gave him a reassuring hug feeling his body was tensed up ready for a fight. “We can figure this out, together from here on.”
Angelo’s arms wrapped around me and he brought me to his chest. I noticed he had gotten bigger in size like he was working out in the time that I was away. I laid my hand on his bicep and squeezed feeling it hard as a rock. It made him smirk down at me as my eyes practically undressed him. I bit my lip to stop myself from jumping him in front of my brother. There just something about Angelo that screamed sexual appeal, it made my hormones go crazy.
James cleared his throat as the heat between us grew. Even though I didn’t want to I let Angelo go, I stepped back and gave us some room. I needed to have a clear head if we were going to face Jason.
Benjamin walked back towards quickly like his tail was alit. “He’s here."
