CHAPTER FORTY

Ch. 40 / 53 Feb 14, 2025

Angelo’s POV

Every single fight I had was difficult, they weren't going to make it easy for me and I secretly didn't want them too. All the anger I had towards Benjamin, that witch bitch, was focused on each match I had. No matter how many times I fell, I got back up stronger. In every match that I won, I could feel myself smiling knowing I was closer to the end. I was close to having her back in my arms that missed the feeling of her body. I was started to forget how good it felt.

"Just one more match, and you'll win." My mother spoke into my ear, as three people surrounded me, giving my wounds attention before my next match in five minutes.

"I'm proud of you son, no matter if you win or not." My father said, causing me to freeze in my spot. He never uttered those words to me before. He stood next to my mom and they both smiled down at me as I the pain from every fight was starting to show itself.

It would be hard to let them down now. I have to win.

"Angelo are you ready?" David my beta asked, and I nodded in response. I got out of my seat to face my next challenge. They should just give up now, there was no way in the world I was going to lose. After this, all I needed to do was break those walls and send as many people I could to rescue my beloved.

Diana’s POV

Benjamin had left quickly not before locking us in the room. I did the only reasonable thing to do, I took a shower to get rid of the pig’s blood all over me. James was pacing around the room as he was left out of what was going on. It was nothing new to me so I continued to look for clothes to wear. I felt a hundred times better wrapped in a huge towel to let my skin dry out looking at my options. Another sat on top of my head holding my soaking cold hair in it.

With all the time in the world, I found a basic white t-shirt and denim jeans out of the pile of clothes Benjamin had in his closet. The shirt was too big so I started to rip it at the hem until I found the perfect length to rip off.

With a satisfied huff, I felt good enough to deal with everything coming at me all at once. Will I die from it? No, but will I suffer? Mostly likely.

Jame’s anxious attitude was not helping my calm state of mentally. I should be freaking out more than I was. After all, I was finally going to see Angelo after almost two weeks. My body felt like it was vibrating with each other’s emotions through our mate bond. My body was craving his touch like no tomorrow.

“I didn’t think he would make me the babysitter,” James commented and that kind of stung. It left me swallowing it down like a big pill, hurting on the way down my throat.

“I’m not your baby sister anymore,” I said angrily causing him to snap his head towards me. “She died when you abandoned her years ago.”

“I didn’t mean...” James began to say but stopped when those green eyes looked into mine. They were definitely not friendly right now. “Remember what Benjamin said, don’t let anger spread or you’ll lose your control over it.”

Although my body wanted to pick a fight I stopped myself and took in a deep breathe like Benjamin had taught me before. It took awhile for my anger to subdue as the darkness inside me was using to as fuel to awaken.

“You know I’m just worried about Cam, I didn’t mean to sound like an asshole,” James commented showing the regret in his eyes, watching me as I turned away from him. It still hurt to hear that from my long lost brother.

“But you did,” I said bushing off the half-assed apology. His stress was a negative vibe around him that burned the ones closest to him without intentionally meaning too. I could remember him doing the same thing when our father placed alpha duties on him since he was young. I was the one to get the burn of his words because I would try to distract him by trying to play with him.

“Sorry,” James muttered as I took my soaking hair out the towel so it could air dry. Grabbing the clothes I went to the small bathroom connected in the room to change. There was an awkward tension but it couldn’t be helped, it has been a while since we have been together and I loved that he was here again. Things weren’t going to be all peachy so quickly again. I was glad he was alive but it still didn’t take away from the fact that he lied about dying, leaving me all alone without any guidance you'd expect from an older sibling. Internally that did more damage.

When I walked back into the room I could faintly hear banging and growling down below. My body grew extremely hot as a sign Angelo was close, my cheeks flushing red. Suddenly the doors opened and Benjamin stepped in with blood dripping down his cheek. I couldn’t tell if it was his own blood or someone else's.

“He actually got the drop on me,” Benjamin said surprised, running his hand through his hair trying to make it stay in place but it didn’t. “I really wanted one more day alone with you.”

“Benjamin take me to Angelo,” I ordered as he started pacing back and forth. He was not scared of Angelo by running away from the fight, he was taking time to plan out what to do from here.

“He thinks I took you as a hostage and made you my slave down in the dungeon or something,” Benjamin said shaking his head in disbelief. “A shiny knight to his damsel in distress.” He rolled those baby blue eyes at the mere thought.

“Benjamin!” I yelled snapping him out of his own thoughts. Those eyes meet mine with a fierce look, one that said he wasn’t ready to let me go yet. “Take me to Angelo.” This time I lowered my voice into a mere plea so he wouldn’t get angered by how I was talking to him. He took a second to look at me before slowly nodding.

“Alright but if he attacks me then I won’t hold back,” Benjamin said crossing his arms to prove his point. It also showcased the muscles popping out on his arms by flexing. Which he was doing on purpose.

“No one is fighting today. We have to unite together to win against Jason.” I said as Benjamin only kept quiet with my words. He glanced at James who I forgot was still in the same room as us. I would have assumed he's going running off the see Cam the moment the door was open.

“Do you think we can put our differences aside after all that has happened? I trust your judgment.” Benjamin said as we waited for him to speak.

James sighed and rubbed his chin in thought. “I’ve never met this alpha before but if he cares about Diana and the well being of his pack then he'll put his differences to the side until the threat is over with.”

“Angelo can be a reasonable person.” I defended him and Benjamin rolled those blue eyes for the hundredth time today. Yet, he still didn't say anything and clenched his jaw tightly in response.

“Let’s hope so, for his sake,” James said causing me to wonder how strong Benjamin really was if he was taking his side in a fight, the winning side in his opinion.
