CHAPTER FORTY-THREE

Ch. 43 / 53 Feb 14, 2025

Diana’s POV

We all walked out to see Benjamin had put up another wall but weaker than the last one he did. I knew it was only going to last a couple of minutes, enough time for us to get in position.

“What’s the plan again? Either I’m forgetting it or you haven’t told me.” I told Benjamin grabbing his arm so he would give me his attention. He looked away nervously as a way of telling me that there was no plan set in motion yet.

“It’s simple, protect you at all cost,” Benjamin said making Angelo scoff.

“Very detailed plan,” He said sarcastically causing Benjamin to narrow his red eyes at him. Oh no, we couldn't have them fighting between each while seconds of being attacked.

“Excuse me, do you have a better plan?” He asked threateningly, his voice giving us chills by how dark he sounded. Benjamin was giving Angelo a sneak peek of the darkness inside of him.

“How about setting up a trap for him using Diana,” Angelo said causing James to shake his head in disagreement.

“That will end up backfiring on us. We need to see what we are dealing with first by protecting her here.” James pitched in his two cents of being next in line for alpha, giving us a look at the strategies he would do.

“Alright fine, but I’m going to do something he isn’t expecting while you guys sit on your ass here,” Angelo said shaking off our hard stares. I knew he was a skilled fighter and killer so he could hold his own out there but I still feared for him. “ Armando, Stacy, and Jenna. I want them to protect Diana with their lives." I snapped my head to Angelo.

“You’re really going to leave me here?” I asked feeling hurt that he wouldn’t stay behind to protect me.

Sighed deeply he gently grabbed my head with both his huge hands. His grey eyes burned into mine reassuring me that he could protect himself out there and we will not get separated again. "I will cause a distraction to Jason before he gets to you first. These are some of my most experienced fighters so I trust them to keep you safe for me." Angelo smiled and kissed my forehead causing my worries to disappear for a split second. I still had an uneasy feeling in the pit of my stomach.

When the three people who were going to protect me came up to me Angelo left to give more order to his pack as he left. Everyone was either outside fighting or inside in the basement as it was the best place to hide this war out. I secretly hoped my father was not going to be a part of this since he was already been through a lot.

I noticed Angelo had walked towards Benjamin to talk to him while my brother James ran off somewhere. Where was the loyalty? I was left surrounded by three people who were each taller than me so I couldn't see shit passed them.

"Can someone squat? I want to see the action." I said with a hopeful voice.

The looked back at me confused before noticing that I was shorter than them.

"Or put me on your shoulders," I said looking at the two brunette girls than at the guy with a goatee beard. No one said anything to me. These people were all business.

"Shoulders it is," I said climbing up the guy in front of me, digging my feet into his back to get on his shoulders. I'm guessing he was the one called Armando.

Still, he didn't say a word. Are these guys mute?

"I'm sorry if I being annoying I just want to see what's happening to my mate," I said patting his head like that would make it better for climbing on him.

"I understand," he finally said. His voice was deep and raspy like he didn't talk much. His black hair was curly and really soft. I started playing with it to calm myself down. "Please stop."

"Sorry," I said sheepishly.

Turns out Benjamin did explosives all around the wall so when it came down they would be triggered. Now, all we were waiting for was for the right time to bring it down. Benjamin had summoned something from the ground and it screamed dangerous just by looking at it. It followed him like a big ass water droplet floating in the air like it was weightless. Yet it didn't look like water just moved very fluid. It was the color pitch black with no shine to it.

"Bring it down," Angelo told Benjamin and he actually listened.

Not a second later did the explosives combust all around at the same time. Dirt and blood flew every as smoke surrounded us. The smoke was heavy, very thick and hard to see threw. It was smoke caused on purpose by the enemy.

Benjamin caused little blue tiny lights to float all around so we could see through the smoke. It was of great help because without them we would be blind to attacks.

There was growling and sounds of bones breaking before we saw it with our own eyes the same wolves that got injured in the explosives started to regenerate.

"How is that possible?" I asked myself out loud.

Angelo signaled for everyone to attack and that's when I lost sight of him. I could spot Benjamin's blonde hair and he moved easily through the crowd with that black blob following him. I watched as he motioned for it to strike and it would swallow the person entirely. By a matter of seconds, all that was left was a burnt body all shriveled up. I swallowed down my fear and was secretly glad he was on our side. Remind me to stop calling him a flower smelling bitch.

I didn't realize I was squeezing my thighs together until Armando tapped on my legs and looked down to see his head was turning red. I was going to step down but at the moment a wolf struck out at Armando and he managed to dodge. I gripped his hair in my hands in surprise to keep my balance. I thought I was going to fall on my ass.

The two girls easily took it down and took out the heart to make sure it wouldn't regenerate.

It wasn't long before Jason's wolves started doing some weird shit. One was on fire, from head to toe. It was running around burning people easily. Then there was one that was throwing up acid in people's face. I had to look away for that one.

It was sad to say out people were going down.

I bit my lip in pain as I watched them on the ground suffering, bleeding out. I couldn't just sit here and watch. I needed to help with the only way I knew how.

I hopped off from Armando. "Surround me but let me walk to an injured person,” I commanded and was surprised they listened to the authority laced in my voice.

I didn't wait for them to say anything (if the planned too) as I went running to the closest person. I noticed he was barely a teenager who shouldn’t have been fighting instead he should have been hiding down in the basement. His breath was raspy and uneven as he laid on the dirt ground bleeding. I saw he had a puncture wound in his stomach.

"Help me," he choked out spitting out blood. His face was so pale he looked like a ghost. I went down on one knee and didn't care when my knee got covered in blood.

With shaky hands, I laid my palm on his injured stomach and closed my eyes to concentrate. I let that tingling sensation slide down my arm into the boy’s body. I opened my eyes when his breathing was back to normal and his face was no longer pale. His wide brown eyes looked up at me and he slowly got up surprised that he was back to normal like nothing had happened.

"Thank you," he said bowing his head to show respect. I was surprised he wanted to go back because now it looked like he had more determination than ever.

What doesn't kill you makes you stronger, kid.

Still, he was just a teenager in his first fight so I said, “Head to the basement and lay low, kid.” He sighed, those lively green eyes were aflame with endless courage. Yet, he didn’t try to fight my command as a person higher up than him.

"What did you do?" Armando asked watching as I tried to hide my hand behind my back. He moved my arm to see the last bits of black running through my veins fade back inside of me. The three were wide in surprise as they noticed something usual with magic.

"I healed him," I said wiping the blood off my hand and onto my pants. Well, more like Benjamin's pants if I think about it.

"How?" Armando asked confused.

"Magic." Black magic actually, but no one needed to know that just yet. I didn't even know much about it so explaining it would be difficult. You can't save a life without something in return. I just have no idea what my magic wants and how it could possibly get a hold of me to reach that.

I didn't have time to ponder over with this. I had more people to heal as they grasped at thin strands of hope. There were more people to save even if it was my own life at risk.
