Alora.
Ares shut the door on his way out, and I was left in the darkness of the room that wasn't mine. The only source of light was the bedside lamp, dimly lit beside me and I turned towards it, folding my palm under my head.
My mind wandered to what had happened a few moments ago. It had happened all so fast before I could even think or have a reaction to it.
Left alone in the kitchen, the rest of the girls had gone and I ate the cake Lana had baked for me. It was the first time I was ever tasting what a cake was. It had a vanilla flavor to it and I munched it happily until I heard the sound of broken glass.
That was right, Ares was in the dining room. Lana had told me to keep away from him as he was going through a phase she didn't explain further.
I figured it had something to do with the red glow in his back. It must have been serious because Isabel had been with him for almost half of the day.
Keeping to Lana's words, I stayed in the kitchen but curiosity got the best of me as I heard the broken glass shatter on the floor and I tiptoed to the sitting room, masking my scent.
But of course, Ares had found me and requested I get him water from the fridge which I completely messed up because I didn't know the difference between water and…
What did he call it again?
Vingra?
No!
Vinegar.
I smiled under the bright lights as I remembered the word Ares had just taught me. Half of me had expected to be hit but instead Ares corrected me.
I felt a faint blush in my cheeks and I frowned, slapping myself as I accidentally hit my foot together. A sharp pain stung my sole and I squinted my eyes.
My feet hurt from stepping on glass due to fear that Ares was going to hit me. As if on cue, the rest of my body started to ache, from my face, down to my shoulders, torso, wrist and to the sole of my feet.
I blushed hard again as I remembered being in Ares' arms as he carried me to his bed. A raw emotion flowed through me when I imagined he was going to do the same thing Jax did whenever he took me to his bed.
But instead Ares had dropped me, sounding almost hurt that I had assumed the same of him.
And I found myself thinking both Alphas were more different than I imagined.
But at the same time, I forced myself to believe all these could just be an act to coerce me into his bed.
I shook my head, forcing my eyes shut as I tried to think of something else but when nothing came, I stared at the bright lights until I finally fell asleep on Ares' bed.
A small thought in my mind.
This was the first time I was sleeping on something soft in almost a week.
I opened my eyes to a huge sitting room. There was a huge set of chairs at its center and a big plasma tv hanging off on the wall opposite it. The interior decorations were beautiful and a bright chandelier hung from the ceiling.
But the sitting room was all too familiar but before I could decipher who it belonged to I heard the sound of footsteps coming down the stairs.
"Ok, the Alpha is here. Make sure you behave." I heard someone say from beside me and I turned to see my mother looking forward nervously as she wiped down her palm on her dress as she hushed something to my father who was standing beside her.
"He would like her. She's too beautiful to be casted away. Don't worry, we will soon be free." He said, turning to me with hazel eyes that hid behind big round glasses.
"I hope so. Or else we are dead." My mother said, glaring at me hatefully and I frowned as I tapped her lap.
"Mother. What are we doing here?" I asked, looking around the sitting room and ignoring the footsteps.
"Shut up you brat! I told you we would be given as a slave to the Alpha today." She half yelled at me and I nodded.
"Oh yeah. Do you think he would ask me to clean his home? I heard that's what maids do. But you didn't teach me any of that. So how would I please him?" I asked innocently as my mother scoffed.
"You are so naive it disgusts me. You are fifteen, stop acting like a damn child!"
"I don't understand." I replied, growing even more confused as the room filled with a deadly aura that almost had me falling to my knees but my mother quickly spoke.
"You would be pleasing your new master in another way." She said before she fell to the floor, her head touching the floor as she bowed. My father followed and I frowned in confusion.
What the hell were they doing?
"Alora.." I suddenly heard a deep baritone speak. It was commanding and I knew it was the alpha. But something about that voice was all too familiar.
I had heard it a lot of times in the forest, that same voice that had called me names, and read books to me.
That voice that I hadn't heard in ten years. It sounded so mature now, deep and scary.
That voice belonged to none other than Jax!
So I looked up at Jax who had come to stand in front of me and I stepped backwards in fear.
He had the same black hair but it was now longer, falling in short waves on his shoulders. His once green forest eyes were cold and deep green. There was a visible tattoo on his left shoulder, a white wolf's head with a bloody rose at the bottom.
He was taller, more muscled and scary. There was a dangerous gleam to his eyes and the aura that surrounded him made me scared that I took another step backwards.
This was the Jax from the forest.
This wasn't the boy who read to me.
They looked the same, but they were so different from each other.
No!
This was still the same Jax!
I told myself as I fisted my palm and shook my head before taking a deep breath and looking up at him with a smile.
"Jax! Where have you been? You just left and didn't tell me?!" I yelled as I ran towards him, closing the space between us as I engulfed him into a hug, wrapping my arms around him.
The scent of smoke and earth filled my nose as I pressed my head against his chest. He was taller than my 5'4 frame and my arms could hardly go around him but I snuggled deeper, feeling him stiffen around me.
I heard a loud gasp from behind me as I opened my eyes to see my mother and father staring at me in awe and fear. But I smiled and turned around to them, holding into Jax's hands and intertwining my fingers with Jax who still stood frozen.
"Mother! Father! I know him. He's the boy I told you about from the woods. He came to play with me everyday." I giggled as I turned to Jax once more who was looking down at me with an emotion I couldn't decipher.
"Alora-" My mother started to call out and just as I turned towards her, I felt a hit across my cheeks as a force sent me sprawling to the floor.
My eyes widened as I gasped in shock, bringing my hand to my cheeks as I turned to Jax who stood above me, a menacing glare on his face.
"I'm not that person." His voice sounded cold and dangerous, sending chills down my spine as I started to shiver in fright.
"I'm not that person anymore. I'm your Alpha, your master and Commander." He said, his green eyes locking with me. My violet eyes filled with tears as I stared up at him with disbelief.
"But- No. You're still you. All those times in the woods. We called each other friends." I spoke softly, reminiscing on those days as more tears ran down my cheeks.
"You're still stupid since then years ago. The only reason I came to the woods was to make sure you weren't going anywhere. I was told to mark you as mine but I decided to wait. All these while, I stayed by your side so you would think we were friends. I wanted to play with you before I finally forced you to submit to me. Before I revealed my true self to you."
No! That wasn't true!
"That's a lie-" I argued, tests blurring my vision and Jax laughter filled my ears.
"Sweet Alora. You still see the good in people after you've been tossed around like a good for nothing toy. And that's what you are, a toy at my disposal. To be used in every way. For years, I've used you and you were too blind to see it. Those days in the woods were just a game to me, to pass the time. I forced you into thinking I liked you and that we were friends but you were too dúmb to realize you were just a passing phase." Jax smirked, before crouching in front of me, raising his fingers to my face.
They felt so cold, raw and even they stroked down my cheeks, there was only a feeling of dread left in each touch.
"I tried to show you many times. I told you a few times that I owned the forest you lived in. I told you that my family was rich and powerful. But silly you passed it off as me being a spoilt brat." Jax chuckled darkly and my eyes widened.
So Jax had been the Alpha all this time! All that time in the woods. He was truly the one who owned the lands and me.
All this while I had thought Jax had been my only friend, a rich spoilt brat who came to the woods often.
But looking at him now, tall, menacing with an evil gleam in those once green mischievous eyes.
He was truly different.
He was no more the friend from the woods.
He was Alpha now.
Jax Pentagon. Alpha of the White Moon Pack.
"Seems like you have no training and no respect for your alpha." Jax said as his smile fell from his face, replaced with a dark scowl.
There was a powerful aura around him and I looked at the floor in submission, mentally scolding myself for forgetting the pack rules as I fought back the tears that threatened to fall from my eyes.
His soft touch changed quickly as he gripped my face and forced my eyes to meet his. They were an empty shade of green, like a bottomless pit, void of emotions but filled with hate and evil.
I trembled under his touch, feeling all the hair at the back of my neck stand as the temperature of the room fell.
"I'll be happy to teach you. Breaking people is what I'm good at." Jax's voice sounded cold to my ears and he pushed my face away before laughing softly as he drew back to his feet, turning to my parents who tore their eyes back to the floor in fear.
"You may leave." He ordered and I heard my parents stand up.
"Thank you Alpha, for sparing us. My wife and I are grateful." My father's voice filled my ears and I could almost hear him smile but I couldn't turn to look at them.
I don't think I could face them after what they had done. All my life, I had expected that being a slave meant working as a cleaner or a maid at the Alpha's home.
But now it seemed like something different, but my fifteen year old self still couldn't decipher what it meant to be a slave.
"Alora…" Jax said and I faced him with teary eyes, the room was empty save from me and him and I could feel a heavy fear drowning me as I started to shake. His eyes were fixed on the floor underneath him.
"You once told me you wanted to fly like an angel. Free." Jax chuckled before he met my eyes again.
"I'll clip off those wings you have gathered over the years. One by one. Slowly and painfully.
Until you're a broken slave. A broken angel."
