The Alpha's Broken Slave

Chapter 45

Ch. 45 / 60 May 03, 2026

Alora.

There was so much to see outside. And the humans did a lot of things that the wolves didn't do. While there wasn't a lot of difference between us, the humans lived more freely and happily.

There was a huge contrast between Jax Pack and the humans and though I had come across a few when they stumbled into the pack, I hardly knew how they were and today was an eye opener.

I saw things I had never seen before like the skateboard and kite Ares told me about and that was a new vocabulary added to my mind and I couldn't stop myself from wanting to know more.

"Jayden! Come look!" A girl shouted from outside the window and I turned away from the kite the young boy was holding at the girl who had stood in front of my window.

Thankfully, before Ares had left, he had pulled the window down a bit leaving it opened for me to push my head outside.

"Look at her eyes!" The girls shouted, calling at her friend who was holding what looked like a tiny white wolf but it had more fur and I knew deep down it wasn't a werewolf.

The girl in front of me didn't look any older than seven years old and she wore a link dress with a pair of sneakers and a white bow over her black hair. She leaned closer to me and I shifted backwards uncomfortably.

The boy came to stand beside her just outside the window as the pup barked in his arm, it's beady eyes starting at me threateningly. The boy pushed his glasses over his nose, his curly brown hair falling over his face as he started closer at me.

"They are violet. Mrs Sasha said no one had such a weird eye color." The boy said, refereeing to me and I frowned.

"My eyes aren't weird." I spoke, feeling a little brave to defend myself because they were kids. But they didn't look threatened in any way as the girl smiled.

"Don't mind Jayden. He doesn't mean that. I'm Sonia. And Jayden's my best friend. That's his dog, Dimitri." Sonia said, pointing at the tiny wolf in Jayden's arm and I frowned.

"It's not a wolf?" I asked, looking at the animal that surely looked like a wolf but only smaller and had more fur.

"A wolf? Those are really dangerous why would I have one as a pet?" Jayden asked making Sonia frown.

"Wolves are cool." She said and I nodded. I guess the only cool wolves I have met were Raya, Lana, Isabel and Carmen. The rest were mean, with Jax leading the pack and Ares not being far off.

I suddenly remembered holding on to him at the hospital. Hospitals have always scared me and the time Jax had pushed me off the tree and I had a broken arm was the first time I ever went there.

The pack doctor had been incredibly rough with me and while he put the cast on my arm I was almost drowning in the scent of disinfectant. It was something my mom used very often in our wood house.

But doctor Kunle, had been careful but seeing the needle made me very scared that I had screamed. I remembered Ares bursting into the room like I was in danger and I didn't waste any time grabbing his hand.

Why I did that, I didn't know.

He was just the only person around that I could trust.

Not trust per say?

But like he was the only person I knew in the room.

Yeah, right.

Ugh. Whatever.

"I've never met one but Dimitri is nice and he comes from the cat family just like wolves too. So maybe wolves are nice." Jayden said, rubbing his hand over his dog's head and I found myself wanting to run my fingers through its fur too.

"You can touch him. He won't bite you." Sonia said, giving me a bright smile as I took out my hand from the window making the sleeve of my dress fall backwards and revealing my scarred wrist.

But I was so involved with touching Dimitri that I hadn't noticed and when my hand touched the dog, a smile broke out on my lips.

He was so soft.

Dimitri lowered his head as I saw his tail wagging behind him making Jayden laugh.

"Wolves do that too. When they are happy, they shake their tails like that." I said excitedly just as Dimitri purred and tried to lick my fingers.

"Yeah. It means he likes you. Do you want to hold him? He won't bite, I promise." Jayden said and Fiona nodded.

"I won't bite, I promise." Jax had said one night as he pushed me backwards against the bed.

It was only the night I had been given to him and I found myself scared.

This wasn't the Jax that I had met in the woods. He was different from the cold, green eyed boy that hung out with me.

This Jax was bigger, taller and there was an evil gleam in those green eyes of his and it sent chills down my spine as I staggered backwards.

"I don't believe you." I said softly as I backed away from him, hitting the head rest just behind me and then I tried to get off the bed but Jax tore my wrist back.

"Stay still, Alora." Jax said, offering me a dark smirk as my eyes filled with tears.

"Why are you acting this way?" I asked fearfully as Jax leaned backwards to watch me.

"How?" He asked, raising his eyebrows at me as he smiled, but it didn't teach his eyes and I grew confused as I leaned closer to him, touching his cheeks and making him freeze.

"Like you don't care about me." I said feeling a tear run down my cheeks as Jax fell silent for a second, I could see the turmoil in those green eyes before he slapped my hand away pulling me and slamming me against the bed so fast that I felt dizzy.

"It's obvious you don't want the easy way. You're my slave Alora, everything that happened in the woods don't mean anything to me." He growled, ripping off my dress and exposing myself to him.

My screams resonated in my ears as I snapped out of the memory leaning away from the window and looking at Dimitri with scared eyes.

"He doesn't bite, I swear. Don't be scared." Jayden said, leaning closer and bringing Dimitri closer to my window, making my eyes widen with fear as I shook my head and moved backwards.

"No. Stop please." I whispered, imagining Jax's big hands traveling down my body and his breath against my neck, I could almost feel him right here.

"Are you ok?" Sonia asked and I shook my head, my mind traveling to that night as I tried to shake off the feeling but I was already buried deep in it.

"You're so sweet." Jax laughed against my ear as I tried to pull away from him but he clenched my wrist above my head as he pushed my dress away from my body, ripping the material in one swift of his hand.

"Jax! Stop!"

"Hello. Are you ok?"

"Stop! Please!" I yelled, covering my head with my hands as my heart thumped loudly in my chest and I could hardly breathe, my lungs closed up in my chest as tears ran down my cheeks.

"What's going on here?" I heard a deep voice and I snapped out of my daze, looking out to see Ares standing outside the window, a deep frown in his face.

"What are you both doing?" He asked Sonia and Jayden who were looking up at him fearfully, even Dimitri whined uncomfortably.

"Nothing. We were just talking to her and Jayden asked if she wanted to hold his dog and she started hyperventilating." Sonia said, pointing to me just as I looked away, wiping the tears off my face as Ares opened the door to peer at me.

"Why are you crying?" His deep voice asked and I looked away from him in fear.

"Nothing." I whispered and his eyes traveled from my face to my exposed wrist, something flashed in Ares' eyes and I pulled down my sleeves, covering my scars making him blink and step backwards.

"Just leave her alone and go meet your parents." Ares ordered and Jayden ran off immediately but Sonia turned to me with sad eyes.

"I'm sorry." She said before walking off in the direction of her best friend. I left out a sigh of relief as I suddenly felt sad that Ares had scared them off.

"Here." Ares said, throwing a pair of slippers at me and narrowly missing my face as he stood outside the car, a frown on his face. "Put them on and come out."

I looked away from him at the soft slippers on my laps. It was a bright pink with a funny looking yellow square faced person on it. I put on the slippers and they felt so soft underneath my feet that I could hardly feel the cuts under them, making me smile and wipe my eyes before I opened the door gently.

Ares stepped back as I came out and stood in front of him, folding my arms in front of me shyly.

I didn't know what to do, not with Ares watching me like a hawk. He eventually slammed the door shut and pressed a button in his hand before shoving it into his pocket.

"Come on. Let's get you some clothes." He said as he started to walk forward and my eyes widened in surprise as I tried to match his pace.

"For me?" I asked Ares who glanced at his watch with a frown.

"Yes."

I almost jumped in excitement. I was going to get a new set of clothes and I didn't have to wear any of Camilla's clothes anymore. A smile broke out of my face as I bit my lower lip.

"Would you get dresses too?" I asked shyly as Ares stopped moving, making me bump my head to him before I staggered backwards.

"Shut up and don't ask any questions." He said, his eyes stern as he turned to me making me nod my head before he sighed and climbed up the stairs.

A group of girls walked past me and I stared after them, they wore a matching set of clothes, a short black skirt and white shirt and black ties. They admired their nails and laughed at each other.

There was so much to see and as Ares and I walked past the tall doors, a gasp escaped my lips at the sight of the mall.

It was huge and there were a lot of stalls inside. A man was pouring something in a cone and handing it over to some kids as they gave him some money before running away.

Another stall had some kind of snacks that I had seen in Jax's book. Its aroma wafted through the air making my stomach growl in hunger.

And there were people everywhere!

I hadn't seen such a huge gathering of people before, from children to adults, men and women flooded the hallways, picking up stuff from different shops or simply admiring them.

There was a small gathering to the left as a man was on his knees handing something shiny to a woman who gasped in shock and nodded before they hugged. Everyone clapped and I suddenly did too.

There was so much joy and happiness in the air that it was hard to not catch it until I heard Ares growl in front of me, making me snap my head to his as he looked at the stairs that were moving.

"I should have come with one of the girls." He grumbled but I paid him no mind as I stepped forward to watch people climb the stairs but they just stood on it as it took them up.

I frowned. I hope we weren't getting on because it looked scary.

"Come on, let's start upstairs. We'll take the escalator." Ares said as he headed up to the moving stairs he had referred to as an escalator and I shivered and followed behind him.

He stepped against it, not falling and my heart thumped loudly in my chest as I looked down, feeling chills run down my spine as I put my legs forward but I debated against it, stepping back fearfully.

I was going to fall.

But suddenly someone came behind me. "It's ok, you can hold my hand." The man said and I turned to him.

He was tall, almost as tall as Ares, his kind brown eyes were fixed on me and there was a soft smile on his lips. His brown hair fell over his eyes, curling around his forehead. I looked down at his palm stretched out to me and I fumbled with my fingers before he laughed softly and took my hand in his, making me blush.

"I was scared of the escalator too when I was younger. But I held onto someone. It's a good thing I'm here to help you. I'm Cameron." He said, smiling at me and I blushed, looking away from him shyly.

He was very handsome.

"I'm Alora." I whispered softly and Cameron chuckled.

"Nice to meet you, Alora."
