Ares.
I flexed my fingers as Seth stood in front of me, his hand in a position that he was going to attack. He waited for my approval to spar.
"Go!" I said and Seth lounged my face very quickly and I ducked low feeling the rush of air brush over my face as I reached for him but he stepped backwards.
"You've gotten faster." I complimented and Seth smirked, feeling cocky. And I stared at him with a clenched fist. He cursed under his breath, unable to dodge the attack as my fist collided with his cheek sending me flying backwards.
"Not as fast as me though." I finished before cocking my hips to the side as Seth coughed, picking himself from the floor and flexing his jaw.
"We'll see." He said and I smiled, feeling excitement in my veins for the second time this night. It's been a while since I sparred with Seth.
Seth tried to hit me but I swiftly ducked again, leaving his legs opened to me. I brought my legs around, knocking his legs out from underneath him as he fell on his butt. But he recovered immediately and I stood up.
There was a frown in his face and I smiled at his discomfort. Knowing it was only a matter of time before I won over him.
He swung his leg at me and I pulled away, catching it mid air but Seth twisted his foot and slammed his other leg to my face making me stumble and drop his leg.
I hissed at the pain at the back of my head, feeling agitation in my veins as I ran for Seth again, I feigned trying to hit him at his side so he dodged and I kicked his knee.
Just as he yelled and started to fall, I caught him by his wrist before I tore him away from the floor, lifting him from the mat and slamming him face down on the floor.
He rolled over and glared at me.
"Are you seriously trying to break my ribs?" Seth asked, coughing as he reached for his torso, clenching his eyes in pain.
"You're the one who got cocky." I warned, rising up and dusting my trousers. It was a silly mistake as Seth took advantage of my distraction and swerved his legs atime, knocking me off my breath as I landed on the floor with a thud.
"Now look who's on the floor." Seth laughed and it only made me angry as I rolled over to him, slamming my head into his.
Seth screamed in pain as I grabbed him from the floor and flung him to the other side of the room. I smirked when his back hit the wall and blood dribbled past his lips.
Before I got to him, he picked himself up, clenching his torso.
"Have you thought of your plan with Alora?" Seth asked and I froze, as my thoughts finally filled with the violet eyes girl and I didn't see Seth lunge at me.
His feet collided with my jaw first and I stumbled, the sir knocking out of me as Seth hit me on the cheek.
I staggering back, curling my lip and flung my foot up to kick him in the face, but he batted it away and spun around, kicking me hard in the chest, knocking the wind out of me. gasped, losing my balance for a moment.
Seth went to take advantage of that, but I had recovered and managed to dodge his next attack which was his feet flying across my face and bringing my open palm around, hitting across his back. He lost his footing, so I caught his arm, twisted it behind his back and slammed his face first into the mat where he seethed for a moment.
Seth tapped the mat repeatedly as a sign to show surrender and I drew away from him breathing heavily.
"I always win." I smirked, resting my back against the wall as a sense of relief washed through me.
"You got distracted for a moment when I mentioned Alora." Seth said, rising up tiredly and resting his back on the opposite wall. He wiped off the blood that stained his jaw, taking deep breaths while watching me curiously.
"No I didn't."
"Yes you did. You've been thinking of her lately, haven't you?" Seth asked, raising a brow at me and I shrugged, lying flat on the floor as I watched the ceiling above me.
"I just feel sorry for her, that's all." I answered after a while and Seth groaned.
"That's new. You don't feel sorry for anyone. Why her?" He asked and I raised my arm above my head.
The huge deep cut that bore holes at my wrist left an obvious scar.
"I don't know." I said. The cut had been caused by a knife piercing through my wrist and I dropped my arm immediately on the floor in a loud thud.
"I'm worried." Seth announced and I sat up, giving me a drool stare. But he looked away.
"Why?"
"I don't know. You just seem weird lately." He said, shrugging his shoulders.
"How so? I haven't changed a bit. And the only reason I'm going to change in a few days is because of the elder. I need to make it believable."
I told Seth but he didn't look convinced in any way.
"Are you sure? Or are you just looking for an opportunity to be nice to the slave?" Seth asked and I froze for a second.
An image of me covering her with the blanket because she was cold flashed in my head.
No. That wasn't being nice, I just didn't want her to sneeze all over my pillows.
I also threw bread at her when she was hungry.
Her stomach was literally growling from ten feet away. And I needed silence to focus on work.
How about the time she stepped on the broken glasses.
I didn't need blood on my carpet. Lana worked hard to keep them shining. She would kill me if she found blood stains.
And how about-
"You're thinking of her again, right?" Seth asked, giving me a skeptical look and I snapped out of my daze a frown on my face.
"Just ask me already what's on your mind." I told Seth as I picked myself up from the floor and headed towards the door in anger.
"Are you falling in love with her?" Seth blurted out and I stopped in my tracks.
"I've told you many times to never utter that word again. It means nothing to me. I do not love anyone, not even myself." I said, before pulling the door open and walking out the gym I heard Seth sigh behind me as he trotted after me.
"I know. But I just fear that this plan of yours would bring you closer to the slave and you might end up falling for her."
"I'll never fall in love with a slave. I can't even love anyone. And you know why." I replied as I pulled open the door to my room, walked in and slammed it shut behind me.
Alora jumped with a start and I froze at the sight of her. Her eyes were opened wide as they darted around the room confused and filled with fear before they fell on me.
Hee hair was all over her face in a weird way. And I stopped the smile that threatened to fill my face.
"Sorry for waking you." I said as I walked away from the door and unconsciously rubbed the back of my head.
Alora kept staring at me as she pulled backwards a little, resting her back on the bedrest.
Why was I standing around like a fool?!
Move you idiot! Isn't it your room?
A voice filled my head and I coughed walking deeper into my room and I thought of what to do. But my mind was completely blank and I went to my desk instead.
I peeked from the corner of my eyes to see Alora still staring at me like I was going to pounce on her and harm her any minute. I said nothing as I pulled open my laptop to do God knows what.
I avoided looking at Alora as I decided to play a game on my laptop to keep busy and look like I was doing something when Seth's voice rang in my head.
"You can't pull off being a lover. You're too cold and merciless and apathetic to act like you like someone. You act like you don't like me half of the time and I've spent my whole life with you."
I scoffed as I opened up search on my laptop. Well jokes on you fucker. There was something called the internet.
I quickly typed into the search bar. "How to show someone you liked them." Then I pressed enter as the search results came out. I clicked on the first one.
"The first thing you do when you like someone is to buy them things." It read and I frowned.
Why did I have to buy anyone anything to show I liked them? That was absurd.
I rolled my eyes and went to the next line.
"Another way to show you like someone was to give them kisses." I coughed awkwardly and I exited the page.
There was no way in hell in my right mind I was going to give Alora any kisses. The last kiss had been a mistake and a one time drunk action. I was never going to do that again.
As if on cue, I looked at Alora to see that she had fallen asleep. Her head rested on the headrest as a soft snore escaped her lips and I stood up from the table.
Alora was fast asleep and her head was dropping to the side. I walked towards her, I needed my pen at the bedside table and just as I reached for it Alora swerved to the right, dropping sleepily to the side and I sharply turned to her, catching her before she could hit her head on the bedside table.
My cheeks flushed red as Alora continued to sleep, unknown to her that she was about to be in immense pain. I crawled close to my bed as she snuggled against me, her head resting briefly on my chest and I turned my head away.
The sun was already seeping through the windows and I started to hear the sound of the kitchen door opening, signaling Lana and the girls had arrived.
I stayed in the discomforting position for a while, unable to move so I didn't wake Alora up. Nothing screamed pathetic than catching her when she was about to fall.
I was an Alpha and I didn't do these. Alora snored softly and I looked at her. A smile filles my lips as her lips were slightly opened and a small drool.l escaped her lips.
"Alpha!" Lana called out from the hallway and immediately, I pushed Alora off my chest as she fell on the bed, still not waking up. Then I quickly rose from her side and hurried to my bathroom, closing the door gently behind me so Lana didn't know I had just entered.
Blush staining my cheeks as I heard my room door open. "Alpha? Should I prepare breakfast before you leave for work she asked and I nodded before realizing she couldn't see me.
"Yes!" I shouted as she sighed before leaving the room. Closing the door behind her. I sighed as I stood in front of my mirror. My black hair was pulled to the back of my head as I had run my fingers through it a lot of times. Sweat filled my forehead.
My tan cheeks were filled with red and I turned away from the mirror to put on my shower and stand underneath it with my clothes, feeling the heat vanish from my face.
Jeez, Ares. You're such an idiot.
