Alora.
After Lana and the girls left, I quickly took my bath and noticed my hair had changed back to its original color. As I admired myself in the mirror, I noticed something about my eyes. They had gotten a tiny bit brighter. They used to be a dull empty shade of violet but now they shone a little bit.
When I finished, I joined them in the kitchen, according to Lana the elder was coming and everything had to be in place. But I was barely enough help for them in the kitchen, and Lana said there wasn't enough time to teach me right now with the elder just a few miles away.
So I had been left behind watching them run about, eventually, I got bored and decided to explore the garden when I noticed the roses were blooming under the bright sun.
I picked some and decided to take them to my room when I met with Ares and someone who I figured was the elder.
The elder had a powerful aura around him despite his small frame. He was tall with bright green eyes and long straight white hair. His white robe flowed around his feet as he moved closer to Ares who had stood beside me.
I didn't know what to do. I have heard of the elders. Powerful wolves who oversaw the packs, having everyone including the Alphas submit to them. But I have never come across one, and my blood ran cold at his cold state fixed on me.
But he wasn't the one that shocked me. It was Ares' words. And I turned to him in surprise to be sure I had heard him properly.
Lover?
Surely, he wasn't referring to me. Because Ares had always treated me like a slave since I got here.
I wanted to say but the fear of angering Ares flashed in my mind that I fell silent. His arm was wrapped around my waist, pulling me closer a bit.
That's when I noticed Ares' hands were shaking. Trembling like he was in fear or rather having an anxiety attack. I knew what that was because I've had them before and Jax had scolded me for it, telling me what it meant.
I looked up at Ares, his cold blue eyes had a lot of turmoil in them, like he was fighting an inner battle with himself and the war was in those eyes of his. His face betrayed no emotions but his trembling hand behind my back told me he was…
.. troubled not scared because Ares never gets scared.
I turned back to the elder. There was a frown on his face as he shook his head, folding his arms in front of him.
Who was this elder that had so much effect on the Alpha of Blood Moon Pack?
"Ok, I guess you're allowed to have that. It's the least you can be offered." The elder said, turning away as he continued down the hall.
A tiny sigh of relief escaped Ares' lips as he snatched his hand away from me, turning to me coldly, the war in his eyes gone. Leaving it a dark shade of blue.
"Wait in my room." He ordered, making me step back fearfully at his low dangerous voice.
I nodded, turning away as I headed towards Ares' room, my heart thumping loudly in my chest as I feared for what was going to happen next.
"Ares." The elder suddenly spoke, making Ares turn to him and I stopped in my tracks. The elder stood at the window at the end of the hallway just before the stairs as he looked outside the garden.
"You know that is where this ends right. Just a lover and nothing else?" He asked, making Ares clench his fists before nodding.
"I know that. Your father made sure of it. It's your room at the start of the hall, by the left. The maids have cleaned it upon your arrival. Dinner would be served by six." Ares said before turning away from him and down the hall, before taking the stairs and leaving our sight.
The air was filled with anger, hate and even hurt. The elder still remained standing at the end of the hall, his hands clasped behind him as he overlooked the window.
He didn't appear to be older than Ares and I wondered why he had so much power over him. It seemed to be way more than him being the elder. Or even his father who seems to be a high elder in the ranks according to Ares.
Either way, I didn't think I liked the elder any more than I liked Ares. He was cold and mean to Ares. I shook my head and looked down the hallway at where Ares had just left.
He was acting strange too.
"Why did you agree to be his lover?" The elder asked, making me jump at his voice in the empty hallway. I faced him, he still stood, unmoving, his back turned to me.
I ransacked my brain for a response. I didn't know what to say. It was obvious, Ares wanted me to play along, and I didn't want to do anything that would make the elder angry with him. It was clear the elder wasn't fond of the Alpha.
"Did he threaten you? Is Ares holding you against your will?" The Elder asked again, this time turning to me. His cold green eyes pierced through me. It appeared like he could see me, the real me. His eyes spoke of great powers.
So this was an elder?
Suddenly, I was falling on my knees as a strange aura surrounded me, leaving me vulnerable and submitting to him. My knees hit the cold floor as I started to breathe heavily, placing my hand over my chest as I found it hard to breathe at the immense power that filled the hallway.
"No!" I suddenly screamed, breathing heavily when the temperature turned back to the way it was. The strange power retracted as I could breathe properly again. I raised my head to him.
"You seem different, others would have passed out by now. Even Ares can barely withstand my power." He muttered before he went up the stairs, leaving me behind.
My heart thumped loudly in my chest as I looked away from the empty stairs, holding my chest before I reached for the wall, pulling myself up.
My legs wobbled as I felt fear. The elder was powerful, stronger than Ares and Jax combined and something told me this wasn't the worst he could do.
I suddenly felt exposed and vulnerable in the hallway and I pulled back Ares' door handle, entering the room and closing the door behind me as I ran my back against the wall, landing on my butt.
It took another minute to get my breathing under control as I remembered I had told the elder 'No'.
No, to Ares threatening me and keeping me against my will.
Ares had threatened me, keeping me against my will in his pack. Despite giving me three choices, it was only a way to corner me so I stayed. He was my master, my owner and I was a puppet to him. It was only a matter of time before Ares used me the same way Jax did.
So why had I said No to the question? I hadn't lied about that so why do I feel I had lied?
I felt confused, everything was weird lately.
Was I suddenly feeling like I wasn't a prisoner because Ares had given me my room, no longer chaining me to his bed? Or was it that Ares trusted me not to leave or run away?
No. It felt more than that.
Why?
Because Ares had rescued me from Cameron and his men.
Ares had wanted to get me some clothes but didn't know what to do or where to get it in the mall until we had run into a mean store owner.
That means nothing. Your mother got you clothes too didn't she? Your father too, he got you shoes Even when they still gave you off to Jax. Offering you on a wooden platter because you weren't even worth a bronze platter.
Yes, but..
He had also taken the cotton candy and eaten it when it was obvious he hated it.
And then he pulls you away from the piano, telling you he was going to lock you back in his room. He got mad over playing the piano that wasn't even his in the first place. He held you tightly and even threw you against the wall?
And he rescued me after I almost got taken by Cameron and his men. He did that right after he had promised me he was going to strip away every privilege he gave me.
But..
And then he didn't do any of that. He got shot in his quest to save me. He was hurt because he wanted to save me.
He wanted to have you for himself! Why don't you see it! It's just the same way Jax should be looking for you. Does it mean he wants to save you?
No! It's because he wants you for his selfish reasons.
But what about the hug last night? The apology that he wasn't able to reach me on time. He apologized! For the first time, Ares apologized to me! It showed he was sorry and maybe he really didn't want me to get taken away.
It means nothing!
Jax did the same thing. You've forgotten? Then let me remind you?
My mind suddenly flashed with images of my last night with Jax, the night I had run away. Jax had pinned me underneath him, thrusting hard into me as I screamed and tried to tear away from his strong grip.
"I'm sorry, Alora." Jax said, he chuckled as he whispered into my ear, nibbling my ear lobe afterwards as he stared at me. Those cold green eyes, fixed on me as he stared at me like the last steak on the plate.
"It will soon be over." He said, his dark voice filled with pleasure as mine screamed with pain. "Just stay still." He said before he turned me to the side and continued.
"Stop!" I yelled, snapping my eyes open to see myself back in Ares' room. I could feel Jax's hands on my body, pinning my wrist with one hand and the other on my waists, sinking me deeper into the bed. His voice in my ears, laughing and groaning in pleasure.
Goosebumps filled my skin, my heart thumped loudly in my chest as it threatened to jump out of my chest. My lungs felt tight, I could hardly breathe as my legs started to tremble in fear.
That was true, Jax had apologized to me that night. He did that often, telling me he was sorry while he abused me and laughed about it.
And I've taken her as my lover.
What do Ares mean by that? Did he mean he was finally going to take me against my will? Was that what he meant by sending me to his room? Was tonight going to prove that he was just the same as Jax?
I was a fool! I clenched my hair, why did I think Ares taking me to the mall or giving me my room meant anything? It was just to coerce me into believing he was different.
He deceived me into thinking he was nothing like Jax, my old master. Meanwhile, he was finding the perfect time to strike. Tears ran down my cheeks as I pulled my knees closer to my chest. Fear overtook my body.
And I've taken her as my lover.
That was right, tonight was going to change everything.
Ares was exactly like Jax.
Both, powerful Alphas that shared the same slave. Broken and to be used.
