The Alpha's Broken Slave

Chapter 57

Ch. 57 / 60 May 03, 2026

Alora.

I didn't leave the room in the next hours, even when Lana had called me down for dinner. I told her I wasn't hungry and Ares had told me to stay in the room.

Unconsciously, I had taken back my spot in Ares' room. The floor beside his bed and bedside drawers where his lamp sat. I silently watched the cuffs tied to the bedpost in fear.

I could almost feel the cold metal clinging to my skin and I stared down at my wrist. The usual red marks were almost gone and there was only a tiny bruise left behind. It was almost starting to look like I had never been shackled before.

That was when I realized my feet didn't hurt anymore. I frowned, taking off the slippers with the yellow square person that Ares had gotten for me at the mall. I sniffed, touching the bottom of my feet to feel the sting of the accident that had happened earlier.

But it was gone..

I raised my brow, bringing my feet to my line of vision so I could see it.

The cuts were gone too..

I drew closer to the window as it was already evening, the sun was gone, leaving the almost full moon out in the lonely sky.

But there was no single cut underneath my feet. I dropped my leg, frowning. There was something weird going on with me. First, it had been my hair, changing from black to red. Then it was my bruise wrist clearing off, but that could be because I hadn't been chained in a while.

And then my feet, healing quickly. The only people who could heal this quickly were the ones with wolves. The moon goddess has granted us that ability to heal not at the speed of light, but a bit faster than the humans. Especially if it was around the time of the full moon.

But I had no wolf..

And why wasn't Ares healing fast either?

The door slammed open to reveal Ares and I almost jumped out of my skin when he walked in, in all his glory, power and arrogance, slamming the door loudly behind him.

Ares was intimidating when he was angry, and right now he was. There was a heavy frown on his face and his jaw ticked as he walked across the room. His dark blue eyes were fixed on the floor underneath him as he took long deadly strides to his table.

"Stupid pack! Useless guards! All of them!" He yelled, slamming his fist to the table as his phone rang in his pocket.

"What?" His loud voice asked and I figured it was either Seth of Victor.

"Yes, I've spoken to them. I've changed all the guards at the west borders. The ones there seemed to be slacking off. They've been removed and punished." Ares said before waiting for whosoever was on the call.

"He's here. I had to work so I haven't seen him since then. My guess is that he's in the room. Lana and the girls have left so he just had dinner."

"No. He's still an ass. I can't wait for the full moon ceremony to be over so he can leave for The Tower of Saldar." Ares groaned, before he sighed and dropped his phone on the desk.

I watched him silently, my heart thumping in my chest as Ares frowned, walking away from the desk to the window. His dark drapes covered the window and he drew it back to reveal the almost full moon. In three days, it would be full and every werewolf would be at its strongest.

Ares watched the moon silently and I couldn't decipher what was in those cold blue eyes of his. His face didn't betray any emotion either but his hand clenched the curtains angrily before he snapped the curtains shut. Covering the window once more and leaving the room dimly lit, with only the moon reflection from my side of the room.

Ares' cold state met mine and my heart skipped a bit.

I pulled my knees closer to my chest as I waited for him to attack me, pull me away from the floor and slam me to the bed, taking me against my will.

Ares' eyes widened for a second like he was surprised to see me there. Before he sighed and walked away to his closet, unbuttoning his shirt.

"What are you doing there?" He asked, his cold voice piercing through my ears and sending chills down my spine.

I looked away, picking at my toes. "You asked me to come here." I answered in a small voice, but I knew Ares had heard me.

"I didn't say sit on the floor." He said, pulling off his shirt to reveal the mark at his back. This time, they didn't glow like it had done earlier. It was just like a tattoo against his skin with the bandages wrapped around his torso, covering some of it.

Ares changed his shirt before he turned back to me. His cold eyes shifted from the cold floor and back to me. I squirmed at his gaze, my heart thumping loudly in my ears and when Ares moved towards me, a gasp escaped my lips.

I couldn't read what was on his face, but the air had shifted as I tried to move backwards, my back pressing against the bedside drawers. Ares frowned as he reached me before grabbing my wrist.

"Please!" I shouted as he pulled me in one swift motion from the floor, letting me stand on my feet before he pushed me to the bed. I fell against it and my heart leapt out of my chest as tears filled my eyes.

This was it.

Ares was going to do it.

But instead of Ares' touch against me, he stepped back and I froze.

"Why are you crying?" He asked, and I turned to him to see him frowning at me. There was a look of surprise in his eyes as he probably wondered what he had done to suddenly make me cry.

He was about a foot away as he folded his arms across his broad chest. I sniffed, sitting up and looking away from him, blush filled my cheeks as I realized he wasn't going to do anything...just yet.

"Nothing." I whispered, playing with my fingers as Ares sighed tiredly, wiping down his face before he stepped back.

My stomach decided to break the silence with a grown and I blushed deeply, wrapping my hand around my torso.

"Have you had dinner?" Ares asked and I shook my head, avoiding eye contact with him.

"Same. Come downstairs." He said, stepping away and turning to the door. He had gotten to the door, reaching for the door handle when I spoke.

"Aren't you going to do it?" I asked, raising my eyes to meet his back as he froze. I couldn't see his face so I couldn't know what he was thinking. Not that I could even read him in the first place.

"No." Ares said, not waiting for another response from me before he opened the door and walked out. I heard his footsteps down the stairs and my stomach growled again.

I sighed unsure of what to do so I stood and went to the door, I peeked out to see if the elder wasn't anywhere in sight. But the hallway was empty and the house was silent so I came out, closing the door gently behind me.

The hallways were dimly lit and I quickly made my way down the stairs as I was a bit scared. The sitting room lights weren't on save for the one at the dining table and my heart picked a little. I didn't really like the dark and Ares was nowhere to be found.

I got to the end of the stairs, peeking at the dark hallway for Ares. But he was nowhere in sight and I bit my fingernails fearfully.

"What are you doing?" A voice said behind me and I nearly jumped out of my skin as I saw Ares behind me, coming out of the kitchen with two wine glasses in his hand. Lana had taught me the difference between all the cups.

"Uhm.." I started to say but Ares brushed past me, leaving tiny tingles on my arm where he had accidentally touched as he went to the head of the table and sat there.

There were two plates set on the table, like Lana had left dinner for me and Ares and I noticed a bottle of a red drink there too. Probably a juice like Lana had said to me once.

"Sit." Ares ordered and I took my nails out of my mouth as I walked closer to the table, pulling the chair beside Ares. He ignored me, opening the drink and pouring its red liquid into both wine cups.

My heart thumped loudly in my chest as I felt tingles over my skin watching Ares as he started to eat, sipping from his cup frequently. I looked down at the plate in front of me, I didn't recognize what meal it was, but I couldn't eat it.

My eyes welled with tears and they dropped on it.

"What is it again?" Ares' tired voice asked. "Even when I don't do anything, you still cry." He said, dropping his spoon in a loud clatter and making me jump.

"Are you going to force me to meet your needs?" I asked fearfully as I started to shake.

"Because I need to be prepared and I know I'm your slave and I know you eventually will. But the silence is slowly killing me." I cried, sobbing as I reached for my face covering it with my hand as I waited for Ares' response.

"I'm not going to do anything you don't want me to do to you. I've told you that before and I don't understand why you are still asking. It makes you look dumb." Ares answered harshly and my heart broke at his choice of words and I sobbed harder.

"Fuck." Ares grunted angrily and I started to cry louder and harder. He was probably tired of me and he wanted me maybe kill me. A part of me was a bit happy he wasn't going to touch me, but another part was scared that he was lying about it.

"Look. I didn't mean to call you dumb or anything." Ares said, his voice strained as I looked up at him to see him scratching the back of his head and looking away.

"Really?" I asked in a small voice.

"Yes, now eat." He ordered, picking his spoon again and going silent. I wiped my eyes and started to eat quietly, while Ares stabbed his next repeatedly in anger or frustration. I didn't know, it was hard to read him.

I grew thirsty and I took the red juice, gulping it down quickly as I sighed, dropping the cup on the table and I continued eating. I noticed Ares' gaze on me for a second and I turned to him as he shook his head and looked away.

Neither of us said anything and I was thirsty again, so I filled my cup myself, gulping down its contents again and dripping the cup when I felt a hiccup in my throat. I blushed, covering my mouth in shame as I looked at Ares to see him frowning before looking at the juice bottle.

"Fuck." He whispered and I frowned, suddenly feeling a bit free now with Ares. The fear in my heart was gone and I felt more like myself around Lana and the girls.

"What is it?" I asked as Ares shook his head, watching me intently.

"The wine is alcoholic." He said and I frowned, hiccuping again as I smiled shyly. And Ares sighed. "It's obvious you can't handle your alcohol." He finished, looking away from me as he continued eating.

"What does alcoholic mean?" I asked innocently.
