The Alpha's Broken Slave

Chapter 53

Ch. 53 / 60 May 03, 2026

Alora

The hug lasted for another second before Ares tore away from me, stepping back quickly. He suddenly hissed, clenching his torso as a gasp escaped my lips.

"What's wrong?" I asked worriedly as he looked away painfully.

"Cameron shot me." He said, breathing heavily as he pulled the robe away to inspect the bandages wrapped around him.

"I'm sorry. I didn't know he was a bad person and I know you warned me earlier but I didn't listen. I'm-" I started to say but Ares cut me off.

"It's ok. Get some rest." He said before walking away from me to the door.

I stared after him as he pushed the door open, stopping briefly as he started to turn back to me before he shook his head and left the room, closing the door behind him.

Ares acted differently and I wondered why. He has been nothing but cruel and mean to me. So why had he suddenly hugged me from the blues. Was it because he felt I was in danger and he was unable to save me? Or had my words gotten through him?

Either way, I had something else troubling me and that was my hair. I crossed the room to the bathroom as I stared at myself in the mirror. My hair was really red, falling past my eyes and resting on my lower back.

It was beautiful and the hair pins Lana had used still stayed in my hair, its colors complementing the red shade. The red hair suited me and it was almost hard to recognize myself, save for my eyes and my scars or else I wouldn't have believed it was me.

Was this a sign of some sort?

I didn't know, a lot of things were weird about me. From not having a wolf to having an ability to mask my scent and now my hair turning red. I sighed, turning away from the mirror as I walked out of the bathroom back to my room.

It was a bit dark and lonely. All my life I had wanted some sort of privacy and space but now that I finally had it, it was hard to accept it. This was the first time I was going to be sleeping freely and alone.

The times Jax had left him for nights, he always cuffed me to the bed, letting his Beta release me only when I wanted to bathe or use the bathroom.

I climbed the bed, wrapping my hand around my body as I closed my eyes and forced myself to sleep. I was tired also and I needed to rest.

The next morning came quickly and my room door burst open waking me up from my deep slumber.

"Rise and shine!" Carmen said, walking into my room as Camilla followed behind her, wrapping her hand around her chest with a frown on her face.

I rubbed my eyes, sitting up and resting my back against the headrest as I watched the twins enter my room. They were not wearing matching outfits today, Carmen was wearing a pink short dress with a black belt and Camilla was wearing a blue jeans skirt and white top with a hat on her head.

"Ugh, seriously. This week has been terrible." Camilla complained and a pang of guilt filled me as I lowered my eyes.

"Let it go Cam. We can catch up next week." Camilla said as she went to my wardrobe, snatching open the door as she went through the few clothes I had gotten from Raya.

"What are you going to wear today?" Carmen frowned looking through my clothes and I watched her before Camilla stood in front of me.

"What happened yesterday?" She asked and I suddenly felt nervous as I started playing with my fingers.

"Uhm, someone tried to take me away." I said and Camilla frowned at me.

"Why?" She asked and I shrugged. Jax pack tattoo on Cameron's wrist flashed in my mind and I knew it was because he wanted to take me to Jax as a slave. It was only a matter of time before he caught up to me being Jax former slave. And then all hell would break loose as Jax would attack the Blood Moon Pack to get me back.

"I don't know." I mumbled, playing with my toenails as my room door burst open again to reveal Seth. My heart thumped loudly in my chest as he strode in, a scowl on his face and a deadly glare in his eyes.

Seth wore a black suit making him appear menacing and dark. There was a scar on the right side of his face, running from his temple to his dark grey eyes. Seth hated me; it wasn't anything new.

"Is it so hard for you to stay quiet and do as you're told?" Seth's deep voice was directed to me, filling the room with power and anger.

Camilla stepped away from me fearfully as she and Carmen bowed in submission and respect to Seth.

"N..no." I stammered as he sighed, running his hand through his hair.

"The elder would be arriving tomorrow. We don't need any more problems from you. Stay silent and don't cause any more trouble. Ares is injured badly because of you. I don't know why he even went to save you anyway. It would be better if you had been abducted." Seth spat before he glared hatefully at me and walked off, slamming the door behind him and making me jerk fearfully.

My eyes welled with tears but I didn't let them drop. I felt very tired of crying and it exhausted me. I accepted his words as I stayed silent, almost wishing the same thing.

He was right, Ares was injured because of me and I was constituting a nuisance already.

"He doesn't mean that." Carmen's voice snapped me off my thoughts as I looked up to her.

"Of course he does." I spoke quietly as I wiped my eyes tiredly.

"He doesn't. Seth is not necessarily mean. He's been through a lot. According to my mom when Seth had come to the back he was just like you. His parents had abandoned him and he was found at the borders with a terrible scar on his face like someone had run a knife through his face. He and the Alpha had become friends a few years later and they vowed to protect each other. It's why he's so protective of Ares, he would give his life for the Alpha. And I know the Alpha would do the same."

Carmen explained and I understood.

"Once Isabel had told me that when she went to Seth's home to rest him. He was screaming in his sleep. And he had the lights on. He told Isabel he was scared of the dark and didn't like dark places. He was a bit claustrophobic too as he left his room door open. It's why Isabel is hell-bent on making him like her the way she likes him too. She wants him to see the love she shows him, to accept it and emit it too. While you deal with your past by hiding in a shell, Seth deals with it by being mean and putting up a front to hurt others." Camilla said, and I turned to her.

"Just like Ares." I told her and she nodded.

"Exactly, just like the Alpha. He has a deep past behind him that even my mother doesn't know about. It's why we still work in his estate because he doesn't mean to be cold to us. He does it because just like Seth they don't know what love is or care."

"They are just two broken souls who have no one else other than each other." Carmen finished before she turned to her sister.

I was surprised to see tears in Camilla's eyes as she crossed across the room pulling her sister into a bone crushing hug. Carmen smiled hugging Camilla back, resting her head against her shoulders since Camilla was an inch taller.

I stared at them silently. There was a bond between them that I couldn't explain and I knew they loved each other deeply. Even from the easy they stared at each other. Camilla could be as tough as she wanted but she loved Carmen just as Carmen loved her.

A part of me wondered if maybe Camilla had gone through something too, to make her cold. Because while she was as cold as Seth or Ares. She was still meaner than the other girls.

It was like I could connect to them and Carmen moved away from her sister's embrace, turning to me and wiping the tears on her cheeks.

"You're a part of us Alora. And I don't want you to feel you're not welcomed. You are now a part of our pack. Whatever has happened to you in the past means nothing anymore, because now you're going to experience love from me, Camilla, my mom, Raya and Isabel." Carmen said, sitting on my bed and smiling sadly at me.

"I ain't showing anyone love." Camilla said, wiping her cheeks aggressively as I smiled.

"Then I'll show you." I responded to her for the first time and she gasped in shock.

"Wait? Did you just talk back to Camilla?" Carmen said, a big smile on her face and I nodded.

"I didn't mean to be rude though." I said shyly, picking my fingers again as Carmen laughed.

"I'm sorry I have to go against you. I know you don't like being touched but I have to do this. Forgive me in advance." She said and I frowned but before I could say anything, she pulled me into a hug, wrapping her hands around me making my eyes widen.

Her hug was warm and I didn't feel any itch or discomfort as she hugged me and it felt just the same way when Ares had hugged me, while I felt safe in Ares' arms. In Carmen's arms I felt loved and like a sister to her.

"Ugh goodness, now I look like the bad one." Camilla said before she sat on the bed and pulled her arms around me and Carmen, with a frown on her face.

"You're like a sister to us Alora. Me, you, Camilla, Isabel and Raya are all sisters now. Welcome to the sisterhood!" Carmen yelled happily and I smiled, snuggling closer to their arms as the door burst open for the third time this morning.

"I knew it! You both would be slacking off your duties! The elder is coming tomorrow and we haven't gotten everything ready for his arrival!" Lana's voice filled the room as she entered, her hair was pulled in a bun and there was a scowl on her face as she wiped her hand against her apron over a brown dress.

"Mom! Chill, the elder is going to be staying at the hotel." Carmen said as they both pulled away from me and I suddenly missed their touch.

"How are you Alora? Are you feeling any better now?" Lana said, ignoring her twins as she touched my cheeks, inspecting my face like a mother would to a child.

"Y..yes." I managed to say as she nodded, stepping away.

"Good because you'll be cleaning with us today." She said sternly before turning to her twins.

"You both go downstairs now. The Alpha has left since before we arrived and he's injured too. Clean his room. Carmen." Lana commanded.

"What's wrong? Why are you like this?" Camilla asked and Carmen nodded, baffled by her mother's behavior.

"The elder is going to be staying at the estate, no more at the hotel." She said and their mouths dropped open.

"What? Why?" Camilla asked and Lana sighed.

"I don't know why either. And that's not even the worst thing yet."

"What is it?"

"He's on his way here. Ares went to pick him from the airport."

**I'm glad Camilla is coming around and we found a few things about Seth and why he's acting the way he is. Do you like him now? Also the elder is arriving today instead of tomorrow, what a pain?
