Alora.
I stood in the dress Raya had given me. Apparently, she had gotten them for me. Though she said they were her old clothes, they were beautiful and also looked new. Together with Carmen she had selected this pale green dress for me to wear to go shopping with Ares.
While a part of my heart fluttered at being let out, the other part of me felt scared and uncomfortable to be with Ares for such a long period of time.
But with enough encouragement from the girls, I finally gained enough courage to meet Ares at the dining table where he sat still discussing with Seth and Victor.
He must have scented the vanilla body gel Carmen had given me, because he turned immediately, making me cast my eyes to the floor nervously.
"I'm ready." I whispered softly, feeling their state bore into my body so much that I was tempted to look up at them.
I met Ares blue eyes first, they were locked on my face, then my hair and then they ran down my body. But not in the creepy way Jax did especially when he wanted to take me hungrily.
Ares' stare was different and I didn't feel anything else except shyness.
My cheeks stained red as he drew back his chair and glanced at his watch.
"Let's leave." His voice sounded cold as I shifted my feet backwards a little as my shyness vanished, replaced with nervousness.
Did he not like the dress?
Or was it the hair decorations Lana placed on my hair?
Or was it because I was in no shoes?
I wanted to ask Ares but I couldn't even muster the strength to open my lips, so I quickly swallowed the lump in my throat as Seth nodded, tapping the screen to his iPad.
"Ok Alpha. I'll book the meeting with the guards." Seth said before glancing briefly at me and then back at Ares who nodded at him as he started to head for the door.
"And I'll head to the office. Please make it in time for your meeting. Should I ask a guard to come with you for security? Or would you rather Seth or I followed you?" Victor asked and Ares shook his head.
"There's no need. Come Alora. I don't have the luxury of time." Ares said, pushing the door open as I tried to hurry after him, my feet ached and burned with the cut.
I stepped outside, feeling the hot sun in my face as the wind ruffled my hair a bit. Ares stood ahead as he waited for his car to be brought before the guard stepped out of his black car, similar to one Jax had.
Ares opened his driver seat and got in as I stood at the other end confused.
Do I sit at the front or back?
I didn't know what to do and when the front door opened suddenly, I jumped back scared.
Front it is then.
I stepped forward, my heart thumped loudly in my chest as I pulled the door further open before slowly getting into the car and shutting the door softly.
The cold air from the AC hit against my face, sending my hair flying backwards just as Ares hissed, sending chills down my spine as he leaves closer.
My heart skipped a beat when he was very close to my face. It was a small space and if he leaned only a few inches closer, he would be resting against my chest.
But Ares only pushed the door open and slammed it shut making me jump again in fright. He didn't apologize, leaning away from me and against his seat before starting the car with his keys.
"Buckle your seatbelts." He ordered and I resisted the urge to scratch my head.
What was a seatbelt?
I had never ridden in a car before, and the only experience I had was when I had run away from my pack and sneaked into the backseat of a car.
Fear didn't let me turn to Ares for fear that he was scowling at me so I pretended to play with my fingers. Praying silently that he forgot the instructions he gave me.
I didn't know what a seatbelt was, and I was too scared of Ares to ask.
I was afraid of Ares was an understatement. I was terrified of him and he scared me to my very core.
"Are you deaf?" Ares asked and I turned to him nervously, my eyes already welling with tears as I shook my head slowly. A tear fell past my eyes and Ares' blue ones followed them until it fell against my laps then he sighed, rubbing his eyes tiredly.
"Right."
I was dumb and stupid.
"Lean backwards." Ares commanded but I didn't have it on me to look up and do as he ordered, instead I continued to cry because I knew he was going to yell at me again but instead, I felt his hands on my shoulders making me snap my head at him.
There was no single emotion on Ares' face as he pushed me backwards to the car seat. His eyes fixed on mine.
Blue to violet.
And it felt like time had stopped for a second as the tears in my eyes froze. He was so close to me that I could scent his masculine cologne and his mint and earth scent.
I noticed something, Ares was dangerously handsome up close that I felt my stomach do a random flip.
It was a weird feeling and then Ares looked away from me before he caught onto something beside me and then pulled the straps over my chest and clipped it to my other side.
My heart skipped a beat as fear filled me at the weird restrain around me, similar to what Jax had used to tie me against the bed. I panicked as I tried to lean away from it, looking up at Ares fearfully.
What was he going to do to me?
I thought he said we were going shopping?
Had he finally realized he was ready to take me?
A thousand thoughts flew in my mind as I knew Ares could perceive the fear that wafted off me in waves as he turned to me, there was something sooting on those blue eyes of his.
"It's to protect you from any sort of accident." He said, raising his brow at me as I looked down at the strap around me. "See, I'll buckle my seatbelt too." Ares said before pulling the straps be called seatbelt around his chest too.
He looked at me again reassuringly and I just felt like I could believe him so I said nothing, only nodding softly as my racing heart stopped and continued in a slow rhythm.
Ares finally started to pull out of the driveway and outside his estate and while he did so, I thought of why he was taking me shopping in the first place.
But I couldn't think of any reason and while the question burned in my mind, tempting me to ask Raya, I had been too scared to do so.
I raised my fingers to my lips, chewing on my nails nervously as I finally looked out of the window.
A soft gasp escaped my lips at the sight of Ares' pack. As we drove out of Ares' huge estate, I finally realized that I had never seen outside his estate before I got here.
The Blood Moon Pack was no doubt one of the biggest packs in the city, with beautiful landscape and homes that housed the wolves. Outside the estate, I noticed other pack members, there were two wolves chasing each other in front of a white home.
Wolves went about their duty, and I saw a glimpse of the pack house and the pack hospital where Ares drove towards. I frowned, wondering what he was doing here in the first place because he pulled the car to a stop.
"Get out." Ares ordered and I opened the door, looking outside in awe. This was the first time I was ever going to be seeing anything other than Jax's room and Ares estate.
I was finally going to see other people after five years. Slowly and painfully, I troded after Ares who frowned as wolves bowed at him before they turned to me, their eyes filled with confusion.
It was the first time I was seeing any other member of the Blood Moon Pack and it was obvious they held great respect and fear for their Alpha.
They bowed respectfully, stepping away from the way for Ares as he walked past them.
"It's the Alpha!" A woman cried out, calling the attention of other passers-by as they gasped in shock and bowed respectfully.
I could see the admiration in their eyes as well as the fear as I walked past them, their eyes changing to curiosity as I stood behind Ares nervously.
I hadn't been around other people in a long time and I didn't know how to react so I neared closer to Ares who didn't respond to the greetings and submissions directed at him, instead he pulled to a stop abruptly making me crash into his back.
I stepped backwards fearfully as I rubbed my head and looked up to see Ares had turned to me, a frown on his face before he pulled open a door and I followed after him.
"Alpha?" A woman stepped into view and I looked around the hospital. It was sterile and clean. Bright lights shone from each corner of the room and the smell of disinfectant filled my nose.
The woman who appeared to be in her mid thirties gasped in shock at the sight of Ares, her eyes widened in shock before she bowed in submission. She was wearing a blue shirt and trousers with white sneakers. There was something hanging over her neck.
"Get a doctor. She has been injured." Ares said before stepping forward and taking out his phone from his pocket then placing a call.
"Come with me, miss." The woman said, her green eyes turned to me. They were filled with curiosity as she looked at me from my head to my feet before she scowled and walked in the opposite direction.
I stared after her in confusion. Do I follow her or not? Ares didn't tell me.
"Go with her, Alora." I heard Ares say behind me and I nodded, hurrying after her carefully and almost tripping over my feet.
I followed her into a white room with a bed and I looked around the room curiously trying to see as much as I could before I was once more locked up in Ares' estate.
I found a small ball of snow on the table and even as I tried to reach for it, the woman spoke again.
"Please sit. The doctor will be here soon." She said before she eyed me and left the room, closing the door a bit too loudly.
I obeyed, going to sit on the bed as I swung my legs underneath it before the door opened to reveal a man with darker skin, black short hair and a nice smile on his face.
"Hi. I'm Doctor Kunle but everyone in the pack calls me doctor k." He greeted me, stepping closer to me as he scribbled down something in a book in his hand.
"Alora, right? Isabel talks about you a lot." He started and I looked up at him in surprise. How had he known I was Alora?
"Those violet eyes are rare around here." He said, before offering me a small smile and then placed down a tray that I hadn't noticed he was holding on the table before taking off a very long needle.
"This wouldn't hurt. It's just a tetanus shot just in case you have any infections from the open cut." Doctor Kunle said as he looked underneath my feet before reaching for my hand, pushing the needle closer.
My eyes filled with fear as my heart skipped a bit, not knowing what was happening until he pulled down the sleeve of my dress.
Then I screamed.
