Love Me, Or Reject Me

Chapter 55 Induce Labor

Ch. 55 / 120 Dec 11, 2024

Kingsley's POV

I couldn't explain why, but I sat in my office for a long time, unable to concentrate. For some reason, Freya's face kept popping into my head, which felt like a bad omen.

I shook my head, attempting to calm myself down. Suddenly, my chest tightened violently, and an indescribable force gripped my heart. My entire body lost control instantly, and I collapsed to the ground.

I struggled to support myself and tried to stand up, but without exception, I failed. I slumped to the ground, sweat covering my forehead. The wolf inside me let out a terrified yelp, marking the first time I had ever encountered such a situation.

"Jeremy..."

I shouted towards the door, but my voice was weak, and I waited for a long time with no response. Just as I was becoming disheartened, a horrifying thought sprang into my mind.

"Did something happen to Freya?"

With this thought, I used my hands to brace my body vigorously and slowly managed to rise from the ground.

"Alpha!"

At that moment, Jeremy pushed open the door with a panicked expression and rushed over when he saw me in this state.

"What's wrong with you?" Jeremy approached me with concern, extending a helping hand.

I noticed that his clothes were already soaked with sweat, and his breathing was slightly erratic, indicating that he had encountered some kind of trouble.

"Did something happen to Freya?" I asked in a hushed tone, turning my head to look around.

"How did you...know?" A hint of shock passed over Jeremy's face. His body trembled slightly, and he averted his eyes, as if hesitant to share the news.

"What exactly happened?" The uneasy feeling grabbed my heart, and I took a deep breath, trying to remain calm.

"Freya...her..." Jeremy pursed his lips, avoiding eye contact with me.

"Say it!" I shouted harshly, as if the air had frozen around me in an instant.

"Ms. Freya was sent to the hospital!"

Boom!

Before Jeremy's words had even left his mouth, a shocking aura spread in all directions around me.

"I'll prepare the car!" Jeremy said, walking out with concern.

As I sat in the rushing car, the street scene rapidly receded behind me, and my heart involuntarily raced.

"Freya, you will be okay!"

Jeremy and I rushed to the hospital. Even before the car had come to a complete stop, I noticed a large group of reporters swarming toward us. I had to change direction and enter the hospital through the back door to prevent them from blocking our way.

The hospital corridors were eerily quiet. When I saw the red indicator light above the operating room illuminated, my heart leapt.

"You didn't need to trouble yourself with this kind of thing personally, Alpha."

At that moment, a familiar voice came from behind me. I twisted my head to look, and Finley grimaced with a hint of resentment in his eyes.

"What the hell happened?" I glared angrily at Finley as I yanked him up by the collar.

"Don't bother with the fake concern. If you had shown Freya a little more care, this might not have happened in the first place." Finley broke free from my grip and even pushed me.

My authority as an Alpha was challenged, and anger coursed through my body as I slowly narrowed my eyes, turning them back to amber as I looked down at Finley condescendingly.

Finley clearly felt my dominance, but he stubbornly held his head high.

I couldn't stand his overbearing attitude, and my whole body rushed at him like a cannonball. I raised my fist and slammed it hard into his head.

Finley had a look of shock on his face but quickly regained his composure. His head jerked to one side as my fist grazed his cheek and smashed into the hospital wall.

Boom!

With a deafening roar, a hole the size of my fist was forcefully smashed through the hospital corridor.

"Stop! What kind of place do you think this is? If you don't want the patients to die right away, you'd better put an end to your senseless fights."

Just as I was about to launch my next round of attacks, a masked doctor suddenly emerged from the operating room.

The doctor frowned and gave Finley and me a scrutinizing look. "Which one of you is the patient's family?"

Upon hearing this, I immediately approached him. "Doctor, she's my mate. How is she?"

"Not doing very well," the doctor replied, his eyebrows slowly furrowing as he retrieved a folder from his coat. "This is the consent form for inducing labor. Please sign it."

"Induce labor?" The doctor's words struck my heart like a heavy blow, and I gripped the railing with my hands, staring incredulously at the document in front of me.

"When?"

In response to my question, the doctor froze for a moment, appearing somewhat surprised. "There's no time to dwell on that now; the patient's condition is extremely critical."

"If anything happens to her, I'll make sure all of you are held accountable!"

A primal roar escaped my throat as I angrily grabbed the doctor by the collar.

"Alpha, put away your impotent rage. If you had shown even the slightest bit more care and love for Freya, you would have known about this a long time ago," Finley said, ready to take the consent form from the doctor's hand. "I genuinely feel sorry for Freya."

"I don't need you to tell me what to do! Don't forget, I'm your Alpha!" I took the consent form from the doctor's hand and resolutely wrote my name.

I must admit that at that moment, it felt as if my heart was bleeding. I sat in the hospital gallery in a daze for I don't know how long, until the lights in the operating room doorway dimmed, and the doctor slowly emerged, pushing Freya on a gurney.

I hurried forward anxiously to check on Freya.

"The patient needs to rest now; do not disturb!" the doctor from earlier warned sternly. I froze in place, feeling a bit overwhelmed.

Finley approached Freya's ear, and I noticed that the weakened Freya seemed to be saying something to him.

"What did she say?" I demanded, grabbing Finley's sleeve.

"Freya said she didn't want to see you again."

I stumbled over to a hospital bench and gazed blankly at Freya in her hospital room with an oxygen tube. I covered my head in pain as hot tears slowly welled up in my eyes.

"Alpha! Ms. Freya will be fine. It was just an accident!" Seeing me in this state, Jeremy came over and gently guided me to the rooftop.

Facing the evening breeze, I took a deep breath.

"No, it wasn't an accident! I caused all of this!"

It wasn't until now that I realized how wrong I had been before, and neglecting Freya felt like a rusty, dull knife cutting into my heart in that moment.

The sight of my flesh and blood fading away before my eyes overwhelmed me for a long time. I closed my eyes as immense sadness washed over my body.
