Love Me, Or Reject Me

Chapter 56 The Truth

Ch. 56 / 120 Dec 11, 2024

Freya's POV

I woke up to the sound of cardiac instruments beeping in my ears and the sharp scent of hospital disinfectant filling my nostrils. I struggled to look around and saw Novia, her expression filled with concern.

Novia walked over to me and gently took my hand. "Freya, are you okay?"

I slowly turned my head to look at Novia and weakly asked, "Novia, how's my baby?"

Novia flinched for a moment, her eyes quickly welling up with tears, and she looked at me without saying a word.

"How is my baby?" I inquired, tears unconsciously welling up in my eyes.

Novia lowered her head and let out a small sniffle before looking up at me, trying to muster a smile as she spoke soothingly, "Freya..."

"He's gone, isn't he? I lost him," I whispered softly, unable to hold back the tears that blurred my vision.

I turned my head and stared up at the ceiling, continuing to speak to myself, "I've always felt so useless, unable to protect the ones I love. I couldn't save my mom, and now I couldn't keep my child."

"Freya, don't say that," Novia choked out, gently wiping away my tears with her hand.

"But I lost my baby. I feel utterly worthless," I mumbled, repeating the painful thought.

"Freya, it's not like that. It's not your fault."

Just then, the hospital room door swung open, and Finley entered. He glanced at me in silence for a moment before carefully saying, "Kingsley is outside. He..."

"I don't want to see him! Don't call him in!" My emotions surged at the mention of Kingsley's name.

Kingsley, Grace, Tracy, Theo... All these people and things flooded my mind in a rush, and I desperately wished to escape from the weight of their presence, the reminders of my misfortune.

Novia rushed me into her arms, and I broke down and burst into tears.

After being discharged from the hospital, I felt like a wreck the entire day. The pain of losing my child left me feeling like a drowning man, engulfed in an overwhelming sadness that I couldn't shake from my mind.

My mother left me forever, my father wasn't my real father, and now that I'd lost my own children, it was as if I was the only one left in the whole world. I had no one left, and I didn't know where to go from here.

Suddenly, on this day, Finley showed up and brought someone I wasn't expecting.

Finley looked over at me and asked, "Freya, are you okay?"

I looked up at him and whispered, "I'm fine, Finley."

"There's a man who says he wants to see you," Finley said tentatively.

I suddenly tensed. Couldn't it be Kingsley? But I didn't want to see him. Finley stepped aside to reveal the man behind him.

"Alpha Henry?" I looked at Henry in front of me in surprise. What was he doing here all of a sudden?

Henry and Finley exchanged glances, then Finley reassured me, "Freya, Alpha Henry has something he wants to tell you, and I think you two need to have a little chat."

With that said, Finley gave Henry a nod and left. Henry had come on his own, without an assistant.

He smelled as kind and gentle as ever, soothing my inner anxiety slightly.

Henry looked over at me worriedly, and after a moment of silence, he finally spoke, "Freya, have you ever thought that maybe Ms. Livia isn't your real mother either?"

I looked at him with wide eyes. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, you might have been adopted by Ms. Livia?"

"What?" I froze in place.

Henry looked at me and didn't answer; he just pulled out a paternity report and handed it to me. "Maybe you should take a look at this."

I hesitantly turned over the report, and it clearly showed that Henry and I shared a blood relationship. In other words, Henry was my biological brother.

For a moment, I was caught off guard by the sudden truth and didn't know how to react.

So, Henry was nice to me before because he knew I was his sister?

"With all due respect, is your fur white? We, the Moonlight Pack, are a group of white wolves, and white fur is the symbol our pack takes pride in. Previously, when you saved Charlie, you had shifted into your wolf form. Charlie told me the same day, which led me to suspect that you might be my sister. Subsequently, under the guise of a medical checkup, I obtained a sample of your blood and conducted a paternity test. Please forgive me for doing that," Henry explained, a hint of apology spreading across his face.

However, it didn't make sense. If I was adopted by my mother, how did she hide it from Theo?

"This is all so unbelievable, I..." I struggled to respond, finding it difficult to believe.

The moon goddess must have been playing a joke on me; that's why my life was so dramatic.

"I can understand that, and there's something else I want to share with you besides this. Of course, I will respect whatever decision you make after hearing what I have to say."

"What is it?" I looked at him numbly, feeling like nothing in the world could ever shock me again.

"I know you've already rejected Kingsley and left his pack. Now, you can't go back to Theo's pack, so I'd like to offer you a chance to leave with me, if you're willing. After all, you belonged to the Moonlight Pack in the first place, didn't you? My sister."

Leave?

I remained silent.

"Freya, I hope you'll give me a chance to be your brother again. At the same time, I hope you'll give yourself a chance to start your life anew."

Henry looked at me, his eyes brimming with anticipation.

I looked away and, after a moment of silence, said, "Just give me some time to think about it, okay?"
