Henry's POV

Quinn Media。

I was sitting in my office, just finishing a day's work and contemplating how to deal with Kingsley later on. However, I waited a long time and Kingsley just didn't come.

Feeling puzzled, I picked up my cell phone and gave Kingsley a call.

When he answered, his voice sounded notably different from his previous overbearing look, more like a defeated rooster as he whispered, "What's wrong?"

My mouth twitched as I responded, "Didn't you say you were coming to my company? What time is it, and where are you?"

Kingsley seemed to recall the plan, pursed his lips, and replied, "I'm out and about. How about dinner instead?"

After setting a meeting place, I hung up the phone, opened my third drawer, and reached for my car keys. Suddenly, I noticed a picture frame partially hidden beneath some items.

I paused to retrieve the picture. It was an old family photo featuring young parents holding a four or five-year-old boy - me. The bearded man was my father, and the woman beside him... I pursed my lips.

The woman in the photo had captivating eyes, an exquisite facial structure reminiscent of a painting, and a radiant smile as she held the little boy in her arms.

She was my real mother.

I ran my fingers over her eyebrows in the photo and thought of Freya, who shared the same distinctive eyebrows and eyes as my mother.

I gazed at the photo for a moment before placing it back, closing the drawer, and grabbing my keys to leave.

Although we had planned for dinner, Kingsley didn't eat much, instead opting for some drinks. I was taken aback by his frosty demeanor.

"Did your uncle kick you out of the pack?" I inquired.

Kingsley glanced at me and replied, "He couldn't do that."

"Well..." I narrowed my eyes and lowered my voice, "Is it because Freya? Since your Luna left your pack?"

Kingsley gestured nonchalantly, saying, "She won't leave me."

My mouth twitched, and I retorted, "Well, wouldn't she also not want you anymore?"

Kingsley pursed his lips and refrained from retorting. It seemed to be really related to Freya.

Kingsley poured two glasses of wine. He picked up the other glass and took a sip. After finishing one glass, he spoke, "What would it take for me to become a shareholder of your company?"

"Simple," I replied.

Since I'd come to thwart the wrongdoer's intentions. The terms was naturally quite stringent.

"Ten percent of the shares for one hundred million. No dividends for the first two years. If you agree, I'll have the contract prepared."

"Good," Kingsley agreed readily, making me feel like I should ask for more.

"When should we sign the contract?"

I glanced at him and said, "Tomorrow."

Kingsley continued to drink alone, while I watched without interruption. Suddenly, my phone on the table buzzed, and a text message appeared on the screen.

[Alpha Henry, word back from the hospital, results won't be out until the day after tomorrow.]

I picked up my phone, read the message, and then looked up to see that Kingsley was already drunk. I dialed Jeremy's number.

Within minutes, Jeremy arrived. He thanked me and took Kingsley with him, making sure to settle the tab on his way out.

The next day, Danny delivered a letter from the hospital to my office right on time. I took it and gestured for Danny to leave.

After Danny left, I opened the letter. Inside was a paternity certificate. Holding my breath, I slowly unfolded it, and my frown deepened as I read the contents.

It couldn't be true.

I stared at the test results for a moment before picking up my cell phone and dialing again. Within moments, someone answered on the other end.

"Thomas, have you received the results from your end?"

A voice came from the other end of the line, "I've just left the conference room. I'm heading over to your location now to inquire. Should be there shortly."

Thomas paused and inquired, "Alpha, with all due respect, do you have a secret child outside of wedlock?"

I knew that Thomas had misunderstood something, but I was in no mood explaining for that. I frowned and replied, "Cut the nonsense. Get to the point and send it to me as soon as you have it."

"Understood."

After hanging up the phone, within about ten minutes, the other party sent the test results.

Upon reviewing them, my brows furrowed even deeper.

The same two samples, two different hospitals, but two distinct results.

I pursed my lips and made another call, "Thomas, can you vouch for the accuracy of this result?"

"Of course it's accurate. Are you questioning the quality of my hospital?"

This sample in Thomas's possession was delivered by me personally. Only the two of us were aware of it, so the chances of an error were minimal.

But what about the sample Danny sent over? Could there have been an error at the hospital, or had someone tampered with it?

My expression hardened as I spoke in a stern tone, "Thomas, change the sample to another hospital and repeat the test for me."

"What? You don't trust me?"

I maintained my seriousness, "This matter is highly significant. I need to ensure there are no errors. You must personally deliver it. Once it's done, send the report directly to me."

Upon hearing my tone, Thomas took the matter seriously, "Alright, I'll choose another hospital."

"Can you get the results within a day?"

"Alpha, the fastest will take two or three days."

"Very well, I appreciate your assistance with this."

In reality, I already had a hunch about which of the two reports was accurate.

However, being cautious by nature, I believed that repeating the process would provide greater certainty.

After ending the call, I stared at the certificate intently. Instead of immediately calling in Danny for an explanation, I decided to wait and see.

With a solemn expression, I carefully stored the appraisal certificate in a drawer.
