Molly
I can't deal with this anymore so it's now or never. It may not be the time for this conversation but it's happening. I may be leaving soon but still, this conversation needs to happen for Tom's sake at least. I may be gone soon but I don't want anything left behind that he will be left to deal with.
Christian looks a little lost but we both know that his suspicions of me are burning away at him. "Molly, you don't have to do this baby girl, It's no one's business." Tom comes to stand at the side of me and takes my hand in his giving it a supportive squeeze. I squeeze his hand back and give him a reassuring smile. "It's ok, Tom. Maybe it's time that it stopped being a secret." Tom has told me from the beginning that I shouldn't have to keep a secret like this to myself, and certainly not when I'm being blamed for something that I didn't do.
"This is your chance to ask whatever it is you want to know, Christian. I will tell you the truth about whatever you ask but make the most of it because it'll be your only chance." He takes a step closer to me looking conflicted. He's wanted to know my secret since the moment I arrived here but now he looks hesitant to know. Why, I'm not sure.
"I want to know your secret, Molly?" He still has a strange look on his face as he waits for my answer. "And what secret is that, Christian? You seem to think I have many."
"I know that you have more than one, Molly. It's clear to see but I think there's one bigger than them all." It's scary how he knows that. I know Tom hasn't said anything or his parents. With my permission, Tom told his parents my biggest secret before we even got here because I felt like they deserved to know everything before they let me live in their home and I know that they wouldn't ever tell anyone without my say-so, so how has he managed to figure all of this out?
Christian
I've wanted answers since the moment she got here but now that the time has come I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't scared of what the truth is. But things have changed now. When she first got here the attraction I felt toward her wasn't enough to stop me from wanting her gone but now, well now if I'm being truthful to myself I know there's more than attraction pulling me to Molly. I don't exactly know what it is but there's definitely something there.
She looks pretty relaxed like she's not afraid of what questions I'm going to ask her while I'm here for some reason terrified of what her answers will be so I start with a smaller question that I want answered. "What was going on this morning with you when you woke up on the couch but couldn't remember how you got there then when you did remember you were acting really weird?"
She takes a moment as if she's thinking about her answer as she looks me dead in the eye. "The reason I couldn't remember how I ended up on the couch is because I sleepwalk when I'm stressed or sad."
"You sleepwalk?" For some reason, I'm suspicious of this. She looks at me like I'm stupid and maybe I'm acting that way. "Yes Christian, I sleepwalk."
"Ok, even if you do sleepwalk as you say then why did you last night? You have no reason to be sad and you are living here rent-free so you certainly don't have anything to be stressed about!" Yep, that's right, I just can't keep my mouth shut!
"Christian, that's shitty bro!" Jack's pissed-off voice booms over everyone but apparently, I'm a glutton for punishment as I keep my eyes on Molly waiting for her to answer. "Whatever I am feeling or why I am feeling any of those things is none of your business, Christian, but as you want to know every little detail of my life then I'll tell you this I'm not stressed but I am sad. I'm sad because today should have been my and Archie's 10-year anniversary. We should have been celebrating a decade of being married but instead... instead he left me alone to mourn his death today instead of being with me.
Her voice breaks as she speaks and it pulls at my heart. Fuck I'm such a dick and I shouldn't have stuck my nose in her business. I'm here being suspicious about her sleepwalking, basically mocking her when the reality is she is suffering and that hurts me more than it should, more than I ever thought it would. Tom wraps his arms around her and I instantly feel jealous and like a giant dick for causing this.
"I'm sorry, Molly." She doesn't look at me instead, she looks down at her shoes like they are the most interesting thing on the planet right now. I take a step closer to her but still she doesn't move while Tom looks ready to punch me and I don't blame him. He stares at me for what feels like an eternity before he silently nods and steps back from, Molly. I'm not sure what he's thinking right now but that he moved away for me tells me that he knows that I didn't mean to upset, Molly, or I hope it does anyway.
"Molly?" I gently speak to her but she's curled her arms around her waist and gone in on herself. "Molly, please look at me." Again she ignores me so I take a step closer to her and pull her in for a hug all while hoping that she doesn't try and push me away. She doesn't move her arms or attempt to hug me back but I didn't think she would, just the fact that she's not pushed me away is enough for me, for now anyway.
I gently rub her back as I feel her body shiver against mine. "I didn't mean to upset you, Molly." Suddenly I feel her whole body stiffen and she pushes me back away from her and stares at me with fire in her eyes. "You didn't mean it? You didn't mean it? You have done nothing but push me since I arrived here, Christian. You want to know everything about me and have thought the worst of me since I got here. You think I'm keeping secrets that you need to know and you have the nerve to tell me that you didn't mean to upset me?"
Her voice continues to rise and man is she pissed and I don't blame her, I really don't but as always her anger just brings out mine and I'm back to being pissed at her in seconds. "'I'm right though, Molly, and I'm also right when I say that's not your biggest secret either is it?"
Before she can say anything a screech louder than the wind we had during the Tornado suddenly sweeps across the field. "CHRISTIAN!" Our attention is drawn down the field only to see Amy storming towards us. She's stomping her feet while swinging her hands around with a piece of paper in the air, and boy does she look pissed. "Oh for the love of god!"
