Christian
This may not be the moment for this discussion, but everything inside of me burns to finally know the truth and what she’s hiding but my brain tells me to drop it for now and I have to agree. As much as I want to know the truth, I need to keep us safe right now, and to do that I need to concentrate.
And don’t even get me started on her leaving once this storm is over. Are you kidding me? She’s just going to up and leave? Leave Tom? He’ll be devastated! I don’t want that for him, for either of them and if I’m being honest with myself I don’t want her to go either.
I’m not sure what’s going on with me but all I know right now is that since this storm kicked in I’ve felt a lot toward Molly and I’ve admitted feelings I have for her to myself that I never wanted to feel or admit. I’m not sure what to do with how I feel, all I do know is that unless she tells me what she’s hiding I’ll have to bury them because I’m not going through another untrustful relationship again and I most definitely ain’t putting my kids through that again.
The walls to the stable start rattling like something out of a movie along with the floorboards below us. I've never experienced this side of a Tornado before because I've always been in the storm shelter but I'd be lying if I said that I wasn't scared right now.
But I push it aside and concentrate on keeping us both alive. I have used my body to shield Molly as much as I can but I dont know how much it will help. I pray that I can do it though, I pray that we both survive this. I have kids to stay alive for and I have no intention of leaving them without a Dad in this world.
I may hate what Molly's doing but I still want her to live. Even if I hated her, like really hated her, I would still protect her right now.
The walls rattle with so much force that it starts to splinter and chunks of the wood start to break away letting in the wind and rain and making Molly cry out in the process. I push myself in even further into her body so that she's now pinned between me and the large iron pipe that I have us both chained to.
"keep holding on as tight as you can Molly, dont let go, do you hear me?" I scream in her ear because otherwise, she won't be able to hear me. She looks over her shoulder at me and the look of fear on her face hurts my heart.
I tighten my hold on her to the point that if I hold on to her any tighter she won't be able to breathe. More of the walls start breaking away, It's happening fast and hard and if that Tornado hits us here I dont know if we'll survive it. Fuck my kids. I feel a shot of anger burn through me at Molly. if she hadn't run I wouldn't be here right now, instead, I would be with my kids.
What if they lose me? What if they are left with their mother? No, no that wouldn't happen. I know my family and they would run with the kids if they had to before Amy would get her hands on them again. Tom has already said he'd take them and run and I know that he meant every word.
A loud bang brings me back to my senses and I realize what I'm doing. I'm giving in before it's even over. I can't think like this. We will survive this. There's no other option. We will survive this and I will find out the truth.
Molly
I cry out in fear as the walls of the stable start to break off and get taken away by the wind. Christian tightens his hold on me until it's practically suffocating but it makes me feel safer so I don't say a word. "keep holding on as tight as you can Molly, dont let go, do you hear me?" He's so close to my ear that I can feel his breath fanning my ear. I have no intentions of letting go anytime soon trust me.
"Will this hold? What if it gets torn away?" I want to be strong but I can't. I'm starting to panic, my breathing is getting tight and I feel like I've run a marathon. Jesus lord I'm scared! I feel Christian's hand on my chin as he moves my face so that I can see his face.
"This pipe runs underground Molls and it will take a hell of a lot to get this thing out of the ground."
"It doesn't mean that it won't, Christian!" I'm screaming and ranting but I can't stop it. "We will be ok. I've got you, Molly. I've got you!" I can't speak anymore so I just nod my head while tears spill down my cheeks. Christian gives me a soft smile before wiping away my fallen tears with his thumb. He's being so protective and gentle with me which isn't how he usually acts and It's a strange thing.
A loud bang rings out and a gust of wind tears more of the stable away. Within seconds two of the walls have completely gone and everything that was in the stables by those walls has gone too. The wind is getting even stronger causing anything loose to start moving. There's hay everywhere in sight and flying objects landing all over the place.
"Oh fuck! It's here!" Christian's words send a stab of fear through me and despite my brain telling me not to look I do and instantly regret it. I can see the Tornado and It's heading right for us! "Christian!" I scream out his name not that there's anything he can do but for some reason, I feel safe with him and I also want him to somehow make all of this go away.
"Hold on tight and keep your head down low. I've got you, Molls.!" The moment he stops speaking the noise outside picks up and within seconds the whole stable has been torn apart. Christian is still wrapped around me and has pushed my head down as low as it can go with his own. I sneak a peak threw a gap in my arm to see that there's nothing left of the stable at all. not a piece of wood, not a strand of hay.
I start to feel my body slowly being lifted from the ground and I'm terrified. There was a moment down at the bridge where I thought that I would die and that it was my time but maybe this is it, maybe this is my time to go. The tears pour down my face despite everything in me wanting to be strong.
Please god if only one of us can live, please let it be Christian, he has children and family that need him. I don't have anyone that needs me and I'm ok with trading in my life for his. If there is a god then I hope he can hear my thoughts right now.
The wind is getting worse by the second and slowly lifting us both off the ground while the rain is now battering down on us. If it's possible I tighten my hold on the pipe in front of me even more. I go to call out to Christian when the loudest noises that I have ever heard batter my ears and we're both completely lifted off the floor.
"HOLD ON!" Christian bellows out his words but I only just hear them through my own screaming. I don't know what I'm screaming for because there isn't anyone who can help us right now but still, I scream with all I have.
We both get completely lifted off the ground while still holding on with all we have. The wind lifts and pulls us so that we are both
pretty much upside down, our legs are in the air and all that's keeping us down is us holding on and the chains.
Holding on is hard but between the rain and the wind, It feels almost impossible to keep hold, and within a few seconds I feel my hands starting to slip and I'm panicking.
I try to tighten my grip some more but instead, my right-hand slips off the pipe while the pipe itself starts to rattle hard and fast. Oh god I'm not going to make it through this"
Before my panic has time to take hold of me even more I feel Christian's arm around my waist again. I look up and he's let go of the pipe with one hand to hold on to me. The man has one hand on the pipe while holding himself and me. How the hell is he doing that?
The wind keeps trying to drag us away but Christian is relentless and I'm so grateful for it. The chain around my waist is going to leave marks and bruises and I have no doubt that the mental damage from this is going to be long term but still, maybe we will survive this after all.... Just maybe.
Just as I start to feel a small dose of hope my other hand slips bringing me crashing back to reality. Christian still has a hold of me but now he has my full weight and I'm not a small girl. "Wrap your arms around my neck, legs around my waist!" Is he serious?
There's no way he can hold us both. "No, Christian. I Can't. It's ok. Just let me go!" He needs to save himself for his Children's sake.
Even though the rain is battering his face, I can still see the pissed look that he's giving me. "Do it now Molly, Fucking now!" As much as I want to argue I don't instead with a lot of struggle and help from him I climb his body and let him hold us both throughout the rest of this storm. I hold on with all I have while he keeps one hand on the mental pipe and one wrapped around me.
It feels like we have been here forever but I know that all of this has happened in just a few minutes when suddenly the wind disappears as quickly as it came and we both land on the floor with a hard thud. I land on top of Christian and instantly wince when he lets out a loud grunt. Not that I blame him, the poor guy has had my ass land on top of him and I wouldn't be surprised if I have done some damage to him.
I go to move off him but he tightens his hold on me "Stay." That's all he says as we both pant and try to calm ourselves down so I do as he says and just stay still and work on calming my racing heart.
"Molly!"
