Eli wanted to leave.
I couldn't wrap my head around it.
He had always been the golden boy of the Agency.
No one would've suspected he wanted to leave.
I frowned and rubbed my eyes. Why did he think the Agency killed his parents?
I shook my head and turned off the shower. These questions had been bothering me for a week. I needed answers.
"Girl, are you having a shit or what?" I heard Beth yell from outside the bathroom door and I laughed, getting out of the shower and wrapping a towel around me. As soon as I opened the bathroom door Beth rushed past me. "Finally!"
"Chill, B, you've got hours," I said and shook my head.
"But I've got to wash my hair!" Beth yelled and the door slammed in my face.
I rolled my eyes and made my way to my room. I dried myself and changed into a loose gown.
Jasper and his friends were throwing a party. Pretty much the whole school was invited, but I suspected it was for them to get to know the potential recruits better.
And that meant I had to go.
I sighed and brushed my damp hair, glancing over my shoulder to the window that overlooked Jasper's house.
I hadn't had much interaction with him this week, and I was glad. I know I would have to accept Richard's offer soon, and that meant seeing them more.
It was the only way for them to trust me. And for me to get away.
I sighed and focused on brushing my hair. I didn't have to think about them just yet.
An hour later Beth waltzed into my room, half dressed, half her hair done and half of her makeup done.
"Aren't you a sight," I commented and looked at the makeup in front of me, wondering where to start.
"Shut up, I'm still a work in progress," Beth said and took a seat on my bed and dived into her makeup bag.
I smirked. "I'm not drinking tonight, B."
Beth raised an eyebrow. "Say what? Daisy are you feeling alright?"
"Fuck off," I said and rolled my eyes. "I was alright at the club, but I'm not feeling up for it tonight. I want to be aware, so I can... get out easily if the people and the bodies... if it all gets too much."
Beth nodded, understanding. "Of course, but that doesn't mean you're not going to look hot."
"I've not got anyone to impress," I shrugged and shoved my makeup away from me.
"Yeah you do," Beth scoffed.
"And who is this?"
"Eli."
"Beth, don't be ridiculous," I chuckled and shook my head.
"I'm not, I'm being deadly serious," Beth said and I rolled my eyes.
"Whatever."
"Don't whatever me, do your face and look hot! I don't care if you've got no guys to impress, you've got me to impress!"
"Yes, your majesty," I said sarcastically and Beth smiled at me as I grabbed my brush and started to get ready.
"Boobs natural or pushed up?" Beth wondered some time later once we were finishing getting dressed.
"Pushed up," I said.
"You saying I got small tits? Cheeky bitch," Beth said and I laughed as I looked through my wardrobe. I ended up wearing a fitted black playsuit with a gaping plunge neckline and a low cut back.
"Don't put words in my mouth, Beth," I chuckled and she grinned at me as I adjusted the playsuit.
"Girl, you look fine," Beth said approvingly and I rolled my eyes. "Now's your time to compliment me."
"I'd fuck you," I said sweetly and Beth turned in a circle, the skirt of her dress floating outwards.
"Why thank you."
"I'm sure Tom would too," I said and Beth blushed.
"We're taking things slow."
"He cheated on you."
"Which is why we're taking things slow!" Beth defended herself.
I shook my head. "Once a cheat..."
I sang.
Beth narrowed her eyes and I smiled at her as I slipped into my flats.
"Im here to state the truth, not comfort you," I shrugged.
"Whatever, are you ready?" Beth huffed.
"As I'll ever be."
"Great, lets go," she said and picked up the bottle of vodka she had been swigging for quite some time now and walked towards the door.
We met Eli and Tom on our way downstairs and Beth walked ahead with Tom, leaving Eli and me with each other.
We hadn't spoken properly since he dropped the huge bombshell on me.
"Hey," he said lowly and I raised my eyebrow when I saw his eyes wonder over me.
"Hey yourself," I said. He was dressed in ripped skinny jeans, suede boots and a white shirt.
I frowned when the word attractive came to mind.
"You look..." Eli's eyes wondered again. "Nice."
I smirked. "Thanks."
"I see Beth's alcohol levels are probably past acceptable," he commented.
I rolled my eyes. "You've not seen her drunk."
"What about you?"
"You've seen me drunk-"
"Are you drinking?"
"No," I said.
"Why not?"
"I don't feel comfortable. I want to remain clear headed," I said stiffly and I jumped when Eli grabbed my wrist and pulled me to a halt. "What?"
"You can come to me, princess," he said and I glanced at his fingers that were close to mine. "If you need to get out."
Our fingers brushed against each other and we both pulled away. "I know," I said and carried on walking down the hallway.
When we arrived downstairs it was crowded. Pretty much the whole group had been invited to the party, apart from Dante who was still too ill to even take part in the mission.
I wished I was him.
I noticed Penny dressed like a nun, Emma like a stripper, and Beth was already cosying up to Tom.
"Who's ready to get pissed!" Mason yelled and him and Jack smashed their beer cans together.
I rubbed my forehead. "Tonight is going to be a long night," I muttered.
Eli raised an eyebrow. "I'm with you there, princess. C'mon, let's go." Everyone started to make their way out the door and I sighed.
"Yay."
"Dais, wait up!" I heard Blake call and I waved Eli ahead and hung back.
"What?" I asked Blake, crossing my arms over my chest.
"I just wanted to see how you're doing," Blake said and leant against the wall.
"Fantastic, can I go now?"
"Daisy, I'm serious. We don't talk anymore, I miss it, I miss you."
"How flattering," I said sarcastically.
"Daisy," Blake snapped.
"Blake I'm as well as can be expected," I sighed. "But that's not the answer you wanted to hear."
"Why can't we just talk how we used to? It's so... tense now," Blake said.
I narrowed my eyes at him. "Maybe you should think about everything that's happened. I'm sorry we can't be fuck buddies anymore."
"You know that's not what I meant, Daisy," Blake snapped.
"Whatever. I'm going," I muttered and barged past Blake and walked out of the house.
"Daisy!"
I stopped when a childlike voice called my name and looked curiously at Lily, the little girl from the first day, as she rushed out of the house.
"Hey, kid," I said and ruffled her hair. "What's up?"
"Are you going to Jasper's house?" She asked.
"I am, you should be a detective," I said and she grinned.
"Can you take me?"
"I don't think you should be there right now," I said and glanced at Jasper's house. It was only 7pm and the house was littered with drunk teenagers.
"I'm allowed to stay there until 9pm," Lily said. "Zac is there!"
"Who's Zac?"
"Sammy's brother," Lily smiled. "We play upstairs together in his room."
"Let's go see if Sammy is there and if you're allowed round," I said and wrapped my arm round her shoulders and guided her across the road and to Jasper's house.
When I pushed open the front door I spotted Jasper immediately and he looked from me to Lily.
"Hey, squirt, Zac's in his room upstairs," Jasper said and flicked Lily's pigtail. "I'll take you."
"I'll do it," I said.
"I-"
