“This is just like any other mission you’ve been on,” Eli said. He took a step towards me and cupped my cheek. “Technically you’ve done harder missions than this, we have more than enough manpower to raid the Agency. We’ve got this, princess.”
“Words aren’t doing anything for me right now,” I said sharply and pushed Eli away from me. “Stop trying to comfort me, it’s not doing shit.”
“And you being rude isn’t going to help either,” Eli said and raised his eyebrows at me.
“Oh, just shut the hell up,” I snapped and walked past him, but he grabbed me and pulled me towards him. He pressed his lips to mine and held me tightly. I relaxed in his hold and my hands made their way up to his neck. I kissed Eli back eagerly. It seemed too soon when I pulled away, breathing heavily. Eli gave me a look and I nodded. “I’ve got this,” I told him.
“I’ll see you outside,” he said lowly and disappeared back into his room.
I took a deep breath and made my way down the quiet halls of the hotel. Adam was already outside and I made my way over to him. We stood next to each other in silence as we waited for everyone else to join us. “Come on, people, hurry the fuck up,” he called as the last of us made their way out of the hotel. “The school will be waking up soon and wondering where the fuck we are, we gotta get out of here asap.”
“Chill, we’re all here now,” Kyle said.
Adam glared at Kyle, but then addressed the group. “Right, guys, you know the plan. We went over this yesterday. Each group has its locations to be at the Agency and were to infiltrate from. We are going to be discrete for as long as we can. The longer we go undetected the better. We are going to neutralise the agents we come across at the Agency. We weren’t able to get to everyone, so there are going to be some agents that will fight back against us.”
“Some of the agents are fuckers that are loyal to Rob, but some aren’t, so we are going to use force but we aren’t killing anyone,” I called. “The goal is to take out everyone inside the Agency so it’s just Rob left. Jack and Erik are going to shut down all comms and cameras at the Agency which gives us the upper hand, but if they figure out we’re attacking, prepare yourself for a fight.”
“I’ve got comms for everyone, make sure they’re working before you set off,” Adam said and handed out earpieces so we could all communicate with each other. “And then in your groups make your way to the Agency. All of the agents we recruited will meet us there. When we give the signal that cameras are down you will make your way to your set locations. When we’re inside, whoever gets to Rob first must radio Daisy and me straight away. Does anyone have any questions?”
No one said anything. I took a deep breath and took an earpiece from Adam and walked over to one of the cars parked across the road. Adam and Eli had organised enough vehicles for all of us to get to the Agency in groups. We were all going to infiltrate the Agency from different locations across the site so we could cover more ground and stop anyone from sneaking out and sending for help.
I climbed into the driver’s seat of the car and nodded to Adam as he got into the car with Kyle and the others from the other Agency. “Buckle up,” I called when Beth, Tom, and Jasper got into the back seats. Eli was the last to join and I started the engine. “Let’s do this,” I whispered and set off towards the Agency.
We were met at the Agency perimeter by Jack and Erik. They were crouched down in front of laptops and handheld tablets, talking animatedly to each other. “Please tell me you can cut their cameras and communications,” I said as I cut the engine and got out of the car.
“Of course we can,” Jack scoffed. “Just give us a moment, it’s not like flicking off a damn switch.”
“You’re meant to be good, hurry the fuck up.”
“Keep your wig on, Daisy, we’re working on it,” Jack muttered and rolled his eyes.
Eli stood in front of me before I could step forward and shook his head. “Don’t even think about it,” he whispered. “Now is not the time to get pissed at Jack.”
“He needs to hurry it along,” I snapped.
“He’s doing it,” Eli said.
I sighed impatiently and looked across the empty field we were in. We were right on the outskirts of the northern border of the Agency. If we were to walk any further north the Agency’s defense system would detect us. The Agency was nowhere in sight, but if we didn’t get their cameras and systems down Rob would know we were coming.
“Stand by, everyone,” Jasper said into our comms. His voice was loud and clear in my ear. “Do not approach, we’ve nearly got the Agency’s systems down.”
“I feel like I’m walking to my bloody execution,” Mason’s voice flowed into my ear.
I touched my earpiece. “Mason, if you’ve got nothing useful to say then shut the fuck up.”
“I agree with Daisy on that, you imbecile,” Adam said.
“The cheeriness must run in the blood,” Mason said.
Eli smirked, but he touched his earpiece and said, “shut your trap, man,”
“It’s done!” Erik called and clapped his hands. “The Agency’s systems are down. They won’t be able to see us, call for outside help, or access any of the emergency procedures on their systems that would fuck us up. We’re safe to approach.”
“Finally,” I sighed.
Eli touched his earpiece. “We’re good to go, everyone. Watch yourselves.”
“Good luck, everyone,” Adam said.
I looked at the group around me. “It’s about a 20-minute walk, we can half that if we speed things up a bit,” I said. “Let’s go.”
We set off on foot towards the Agency. We didn’t want to drive any closer and risk being spotted, we could keep hidden better on foot. I reached into my waistband and pulled out my gun.
I was ready.
We reached the Agency with no problems. It seemed as if the majority of the others were entering the Agency at the same time as us. We accessed the Agency through a hidden back door that not many people knew about, but seeing as I grew up here I learned the majority of the secret passageways and entrances.
“Everyone better keep quiet, I don’t even want to hear you breathing,” Eli said as I pushed open the door. We all slid inside and made our way up the metal staircase in silence. The first door we came to lead to a hallway that was usually very busy. It was full of conference rooms that teams used to discuss and plan missions. It was highly likely that there were going to be agents in them. Agents that we hadn’t managed to recruit.
I held my finger to my lips and pushed the door open slightly, listening for voices. I sighed when I could hear conversations in the distance and I took my gun off of safety. I wasn’t planning on killing anyone, but that didn’t mean I wasn’t going to shoot anyone. I edged the door open some more and Eli glanced into the hallway.
“It’s clear,” he told us. “Tom and I will check what rooms are in use. Stay put.” Eli and Tom silently moved into the hallway and crept up to the first two doors. They peered through the glass window in the doors and then moved up to the next two. They cleared the hall and then quickly made their way back to us.
“Four rooms are in use,” Tom said. “Four people in each room.”
“Jasper and Beth, you’ll take the first room,” Eli instructed. “Tom, Jack, and Erik, you’ll take the second. Daisy and I will take the last two rooms.”
“By yourself?” Jasper said. He looked at me. “No-”
“If they’re smart, they won’t fight back against us. Not if they know of our reputation,” Eli said.
“Rub it in that you’re the best,” Jack muttered. Eli glared at him.
“What if they don’t know of your reputation?” Jasper questioned.
“Then we’ll have no problem taking them down,” I shrugged. “Now, let’s stop wasting time and get on with it.”
“Tie them up and gag them,” Jasper said. “And then we can move on.”
We all entered the hallway and Eli and I made out way to the end. We were all stood by our doors and Eli raised his hand. I gripped the door handle and as soon as he nodded and lowered his hand we all entered the room. I walked in and shut the door behind me, locking it.
“Morning, guys,” I said cheerfully, surprisingly the four unsuspecting agents in the room. “How’s it going, good day?”
“Daisy,” one of them spoke up. I recognised him but couldn’t put a name to face. “What are you doing here? You’re meant to be on a mission.”
“Oh, I am on a mission,” I said. “Now, guys, I need you to do me a favour and raise your arms above your heads.” Four pairs of eyes went to the gun in my hand. “Now!”
The guy that had spoken raised his hands slowly. “Do it,” he told the others.
I smirked. “I’d listen to him.”
“Dude, there’s one of her, four of us. Are you stupid?” Said a guy with brown hair.
“He’s actually being very smart,” I said.
“I’m with Jacob,” one of the girls said.
“Jacob, you’ve not been here long, so shut up and listen to me.” The guy I knew glared at Jacob and looked at the girl who had spoken. “Tina, you’ve not had the pleasure of meeting her, but this is Daisy. Rob’s daughter.”
Tina looked at me with wide eyes and I smiled.
“The Daisy? The one that ran away and-”
I cut the other girl off. “I’m not here to chit chat,” I snapped. “Raise your fucking hands. You know who I am. You know you have no hope against me. So do as I fucking say, or I will seriously hurt you.”
They all raised their hands apart from Jacob who stood up, clenching his hands into fists. “You’re just a tiny girl, you can’t do shi-”
I rolled my eyes and walked over to Jacob and hit him over the head with my gun. He immediately fell to the floor. “Why are the newer one's cocky little shits?” I said. I reached into my jacket pocket and pulled out a roll of tape and taped Jacob’s wrists and ankles together. I moved onto the others. “It’s nothing personal guys, all will be explained later.”
“You aren’t going to get away with this,” the guy said. “Even if you are Rob’s daughter.”
“We’ll see about that,” I said. I gagged the four of them and then walked out of the room, blocking the door with a chair. Eli walked into the hall at the same time as me and smirked slightly.
“I didn’t even need to threaten anyone,” he said. “It was almost boring.”
The others joined us moments later and I noticed some red knuckles. “Put up a fight?”
“Not much of one,” Jasper shrugged.
“Moving on,” Beth said. She flipped her hair over her shoulder and walked to the end of the hallway.
“Where does this lead to?” Jasper asked when we reached the end. We stood by the door.
“If we go left then it will take us to the main part of the Agency,” Jack said.
“It’s a very big open space and could potentially be crawling with agents, we need to be careful,” I said.
Jasper nodded. We made our way through the door and into the next hallway which was empty. We crept along to the left where the hallway opened up to a walkway that overlooked the main part of the Agency. It was set out in a large rectangle, with walkways on each level looking over the main floor.
Jasper looked around the corner and suddenly shoved us all back. “Please tell me that it’s completely normal for all of them to be there.”
I looked around the corner and saw the walkway, as well as the upper and lower ones and the ground floor covered with agents armed with guns. They were all waiting in silence. “Um, no, not at all,” I whispered.
Eli looked next and swore. There were agents less than 20 meters from us. “What the fuck is going on?”
“Go back, back now,” I ordered and shoved everyone back into the hallway where we had just restrained the other agents. I took a deep breath and leaned back against the wall. “Shit. They’re waiting. They are all waiting.”
“For what?” Erik said, but we all knew the answer.
“For us,” I groaned. “They knew. They knew we were coming. I bet this Agency is crawling with ten times more agents than usual.”
Eli tapped his earpiece. “They know,” he said into it. “Somehow the Agency knows we were attacking. The main hub is covered in armed agents. This is going to get messy guys.”
“Shit,” Adam said. “We’re on the east side, we’ve just seen it. How the fuck did they know we’re coming?”
“Someone must’ve snitched,” Hampson said.
“Shit, right, well we have to fight,” Adam said.
“I did not come here to die,” Emma said.
“You signed up to be a fucking assassin, shut the fuck up,” I said. I ran my fingers through my hair and started to pace. “Right, Rob is most likely to be in his office. I need to get there.”
“If he knows we’re coming then Rob most likely isn’t going to be here,” Max replied to me.
“No, he’ll be here,” Adam said surely.
“He must know our plan. He’s packed this place out with agents. He’s confident that we won’t succeed. He’ll be going about his day in his office like normal. But we’re going to succeed.”
“Rob most likely would’ve told the agents some shit and they’re going to think we’re the enemy. They’re going to shoot to kill if they have to. We need to be careful.”
“They’re all in the main area because the only elevators are there. You can only access Rob’s office from the elevator on the ground floor, but they’re going to be guarding it like crazy.”
“Everyone, get to the main part of the Agency,” Adam instructed. “We’re going to have to engage. And we need to make sure that Daisy gets to the elevator. When you’re at the main part, stay hidden until I give the order.”
There was a chorus of yeses and I groaned loudly.
Eli took my hand and stopped me from pacing. “It’s just a change in plan. We’re still going to do this.”
“People are going to get hurt,” I said.
“If we don’t stop Rob he’s going to continue to get agents to murder innocent people,” Eli said. “Guys.” He looked at the group. “Daisy and I are making it to that elevator. I don’t care how, but we’re doing it.
“Easy,” Jack said confidently, “we’ve just got to get through a bunch of highly trained agents with guns.”
Eli squeezed my hand. “No problem, right, princess?”
