“No, but we haven’t really got the time to sit down and have a nap,” I shrugged and we continued towards the elevator. There were three agents standing next to it and I ran up to one, knife in hand, and grabbed them, cutting their arm. I threw them to the side, knowing they would be unconscious in a matter of moments. Eli grabbed an agent by his neck and slammed him against the wall while I tackled the other agent to the floor and wrapped my arms around their neck. “It’s nothing personal, bud,” I said and waited for him to fall unconscious.
Eli pressed the button for the elevator way too many times and turned around, watching the agents that were fighting, waiting to see if any of them noticed us. “Hurry the fuck up,” he muttered and pressed the button continuously.
“It’s not going to come any damn faster if you press it again,” I snapped and grabbed Eli’s hand. “We just have to wait.”
Eli sighed and ran his fingers through his hair. “Come on, come on,” he murmured and tapped his foot impatiently.
“Thank fuck,” I said in relief when the doors opened. I pushed Eli inside and pressed the button for the floor that Rob’s office was from.
“Shit, they’ve noticed, close the fucking doors, princess!” Eli yelled.
I glanced out of the elevator and saw agents running towards us. I smashed the button that closed the doors and they started to close just as there was a loud bang. Eli yelled out in pain and fell to the ground. “No,” I said and crouched down next to him as the doors closed fully. “Shit, please say it just scraped you.”
Eli was clutching his leg, his hands covered in blood. “Bastard,” he growled as I examined his wound.
“Entry and exit holes,” I told him. “Give me your belt, now!”
Eli gritted his teeth and groaned as he undid his belt and passed it to me. I used the belt as a tourniquet and secured it just below his knee, above the bullet hole. I ripped off part of my top and bunched it up, placing it over the two wounds. I secured them in place with my belt and sat back on my heels, looking at Eli with wide eyes, taking deep breaths.
“You just had to go and fucking get shot, didn’t you,” I said and rolled my eyes. “I’m no doctor, but it’s not bleeding heavily and I think it missed any major arteries. You should be good until we can get you some help.”
“If we get out of here,” Eli muttered.
I laughed. “Yeah, that would be good if we could do that.”
“It hurts like a fucking bitch,” he growled.
“Can you stand?” I asked. “We’re nearly there.”
Eli groaned as he stood up and tentatively put weight on his leg. “You’re gonna have to give me a hand.”
“Stay to the side and get your gun out. Screw not killing them. I’m pissed off and I want this over and done with,” I said and took out my gun. “I’m aiming for their fucking heads.”
“He’s going to have agents in the corridor outside his office. This elevator provides us with some cover. We stay here and take as many people out as we can before advancing,” Eli said. “He doesn’t even think we’re going to make it up here, I doubt he’ll have a lot of agents with him.”
“Gotcha,” I said and took a deep breath. “Come on, up you get.” I helped Eli stand and I held my gun tightly with my free hand. We stood to the side so we were going to be protected slightly by the wall of the elevator and waited to reach the top.
“You ready?” Eli whispered in my ear.
I looked up at him. “Honestly?”
“Honestly.”
“No,” I breathed and the doors opened.
“Well, shit,” Eli coughed and I froze when I looked out of the elevator. About 10 agents were waiting for us, guns aimed. “I know we’re good and all that, but I’m already shot and there’s a hell of a lot more of them than us.”
“Drop your guns,” an agent ordered.
“I don’t really want to,” I said.
“Drop your fucking guns!”
“Daisy,” Eli said quietly. “We’re not getting through them.”
“I know that, but that doesn’t mean I want to put down my damn gun.”
“Now!” Another agent yelled and I sighed when Eli took the gun from my hands.
“We can still do this,” he said into my ear and threw both mine and his gun onto the ground.
“I’m interested to know how,” I muttered.
“Have a little faith, princess,” Eli said before I was grabbed by two agents and pushed forward. I stumbled and glared at the agent who grabbed my arm.
“Careful,” I snapped and looked over my shoulder to see Eli being handled roughly, getting shoved down the corridor behind me. He was limping.
“Eyes front,” the agent ordered and jabbed me harshly in the back.
“Dick,” I huffed. We stopped outside Rob’s door and I sighed when Eli and I were patted down and all of our weapons removed.
“Give me your hands,” an agent ordered, looking at me expectantly, handcuffs in hand.
“No,” I said.
“Excuse me?”
“Make me,” I taunted.
The agent stepped towards me but I ripped my arm free of the agent holding me and elbowed the agent in the face. I kicked the handcuffs out of the other agent’s hand. I heard the door to Rob’s office open just as I was tackled to the ground. I yelled out and fought against the person holding me down, but their bodyweight pinned me to the ground.
“Get the hell off me!” I growled and struggled as my hands were pulled behind my back and handcuffed together, way to tight for me to be able to get out of them. I was grabbed by two agents and pulled up from the floor. I looked over at Eli who was being held back by three guys while they struggled to restrain him. I flinched when Eli was kicked in the leg, on his wound, and his moment of weakness that followed allowed the agents to handcuff him.
“You two are perfect for each other.”
I froze when I heard his voice. I was forcibly turned to face Rob’s office. The door was wide open and Rob was standing in the doorway. He hadn’t changed. His hair was slightly longer, but he was dressed like usual in one of his immaculate suits. I wanted to spit on his perfectly polished shoes. He was standing with his arms crossed over his chest, and his facial expression was very familiar.
He was pissed.
“Hi, Dad,” I said sarcastically. There was a loud crack and my head snapped to the side due to the force of Rob’s slap. My lip stung and I could feel blood trickling down my chin. I slowly looked back at Rob and pursed my lips. “Or should I call you, uncle?”
“Inside,” Rob ordered and stepped to the side. Eli and I were dragged into Rob’s office and I noticed James standing behind Rob’s desk, along with a person I had never seen before. He had dark hair and only seemed a few years older than me. “Leave us,” Rob told the other agents and Eli limped over to me, leaning onto my side for support.
“You okay?” I whispered.
