"Why the fuck should I tell you?"
"I'm just curious. And your body, it has signs of years of physical stress and abuse... You don't seem surprised."
Why would I be when I've been training my whole life to be a killer? "I've had a shitty upbringing," I said dismissively.
"Apart from that, you're very fit and healthy," Richard observed.
"Great," I said sarcastically.
"You fight well. Where did you learn to do that?"
"Grow up where I did and you'll pick it up eventually," I shrugged. It wasn't a lie.
"The orphanage has been contacted."
I perked up at this and eyed Richard curiously.
"I spoke to Blake-"
"Spoke? What did he say? What-"
"And he believes that you are currently in a police station-"
"Bullshit," I scoffed. "He knows I'm not stupid enough to get arrested." I paused and added for the sake of my cover, "again."
"You broke your probation," Richard said. "You were out past 11pm, that's against the rules."
"Bullshit!" I yelled. "There's no way he would believe such bollocks!"
"Well he did," Richard shrugged. "And he'll be waiting when you finally get sent home."
"And when the hell is that?" I snapped as Madeline called Richard over.
"I've not yet decided."
My next visitor was Jasper. He came an hour later after Richard had gone off to speak to Madeline and never came back.
"What the fuck do you want?" I sighed and he sat down on the chair next to my bed. He was silent for a while. "Stop staring at me!" I snapped.
Jasper blinked a few times and furrowed his eyebrows at me. "Sorry about your face," he said suddenly.
"What?"
Jasper picked up a mirror and I scowled when I saw I had stitches just above my eyebrow. "It happened when I hit you with the gun," he shrugged.
"Thanks for that," I muttered and I glared when he stared at me again. It was like he zoned out and watching me was the only thing he could do. "Stop that!" I said with a raised voice. "Stop looking at me like that!"
Jasper narrowed his eyes at me and ran his fingers through his hair. It fell into his green eyes that were looking directly at me.
"You weren't lying," he said, "were you? About getting raped."
"Why would I lie about something like that?" I muttered.
"I thought you were lying."
"I wish I was," I said with a humourless laugh.
"You talked in your sleep," Jasper said and I froze.
"I did?" I said cautiously.
"It was more like screaming."
"Bloody hell," I groaned.
"I think you were remembering the night it happened."
"Fuck," I cursed.
"You said a name a lot."
"What name?"
"Eli. Is that the guy you were sitting with in class?"
I nodded curtly.
"Was he there?"
"I'd be dead if he hadn't have turned up," I said.
Jasper narrowed his eyes again, but nodded.
"Why aren't you at school?" I asked.
"It's the evening," Jasper shrugged.
I'd been unconscious the whole day.
"When can I go home?"
Jasper ignored me and stood up. He didn't spare me a glance as he walked out.
Another hour passed and Richard finally decided to grace me with his presence. Jasper followed behind him.
"You're going home," Richard said and placed a pile of clothes at the end of the bed.
"I am? What about those tests you were talking about?" I asked.
"The results are back, we have all the information we need," Richard said and walked up to me an uncuffed my handcuff.
"Let me guess, I don't get to find out what you did with my blood, do I?" I said.
"No," Richard said sternly. "Daisy, before you leave you need to understand that you cannot talk about anything that happened here."
"And what will you do if I do?" I asked as I ripped the needle connected to the drip from my arm.
"You'll be dragged back here and you will not leave," Richard said. "We will be keeping a close eye on you."
"How unnerving," I muttered and grabbed the clothes at the end of the bed. They were my running clothes that I was kidnapped in.
"I'm being serious," Richard warned. "We will know if you tell anyone."
I paused and glanced at Richard, a bad feeling forming in my stomach. There was only one way that they would know. They'd bugged me.
"So what's going to happen when I leave and tell absolutely no one how the people that live across from me kidnapped me? I'd love to think that you're going to ignore my existence, but I can't believe that," I said and looked at Jasper.
"You'll go back to normal," Jasper said and crossed his arms over his chest. "And we most certainly won't ignore your existence."
"If you touch me again I will punch you," I scowled.
Jasper had driven me home. He had blindfolded me the whole way until we got to the end of our road.
"Don't tell anyone what happened," Jasper said when he stopped the car.
"Yeah, yeah, I listened to the threat the first time," I said and grabbed the door handle, but Jasper locked the doors. "You're really starting to piss me off, you know."
"The feeling is mutual," Jasper said. "Don't do anything stupid like run away or something."
"Trust me, if I could have run away then I wouldn't be in this town right now. I'd be far away from here," I sighed. "Now open the door before I smash the window."
As soon as I heard the click I climbed out of the car and slammed the door behind me. I walked down the road. I sighed when I walked up to the orphanage and opened the door.
"Daisy!" Blake gasped. "What the fuck happened!"
"Shut the hell up and don't talk to me," I said sternly and Eli walked out of a room and looked at me with wide eyes.
"What happened? You're injured, princess," he said.
"Yo! Daisy's not dead!" Mason called when he spotted me.
"Shut the fuck up!" I snapped and walked up to Eli.
"Dude, she's been turned into even more of a bitch," Mason whispered and I glared at him, but looked up at Eli and reached into his pocket.
"What-"
I held my finger to my lip and shook my head. He frowned at me, but nodded and I pulled out his phone. I went onto the notepad and typed two words.
I'M BUGGED.
