Chapter 61

Ch. 61 / 97 Oct 17, 2025

I walked into my last class of the day. I was late.

The teacher scowled at me, but realised I was new and told me to take a seat.

I looked around the class and spotted Eli sitting with Hampson in the middle of class. My eyes landed on Emma who was seated with her orange looking new friends, she had an empty seat next to her. The next empty seat was next to Kent who smirked darkly at me. The final empty seat was near the back of the class, next to Jasper and Ivan.

I looked at Kent and Emma before gritting my teeth and walking to the back of the classroom and taking a seat next to Jasper.

He turned to me with a small smirk. "You must really hate the other two if you're choosing to sit next to me."

"You have no idea," I muttered.

"What did the guy say to you? When you kicked him the day you got here?" Jasper asked quietly.

"What do you care?" I snapped.

"It must've been something pretty bad," Jasper pushed.

"It's none of your business," I said and glared at him. "Now do me a favour and shut the fuck up."

"It is my business."

"Tell me what you did with my blood and then I'll tell you," I said.

"We just did some tests," Jasper shrugged.

"I am aware of that. What bloody tests?" I hissed.

"Now that is none of your business," Jasper said and I scowled at him.

"You're an ass."

Jasper shrugged. "What did that guy do?"

"Doesn't matter."

"I could just ask him," Jasper said.

"Why do you want to know? He's an ass. Just fucking leave it," I snapped.

"I'm interested now," Jasper said and he waited for the teacher to set the class a task before getting up and walking over to Kent.

"Fucking hell," I groaned and stood up and hurried after him. "Jasper, leave it."

"Why did she attack you?" Jasper asked Kent.

"Because she's a nutcase," Kent shrugged. "Who are you?"

"Jasper, and I'll ask again, why did she attack you?" Jasper snapped.

"I'm going to attack you in a minute!" I hissed.

"I said that she should have died that night," Kent said slowly and smirked at me.

"That night?" Jasper said and looked at me. "The night you were..."

I averted my eyes and clenched my hands into fists.

A second later there was a crash and Kent was lying on the ground, clutching his face.

"You bastard!" Kent growled and I looked at Jasper who was shaking out his red fist.

"You punched him?" I said and raised an eyebrow at Jasper who gave me a look.

"Jasper!" The teacher yelled. "Headteacher's office! Now!"

I walked into my room after school and frowned when I saw a letter on my bed.

"What the-" I picked up the letter and ripped it open.

Daisy Kellerman,

Richard wants to speak to you. Be at my house at 11pm. If you're not there we will come and get you.

-J

I scoffed and scrunched the letter into a ball and threw it onto my bed. "Ass," I muttered and glanced out of my window. Jasper was outside of his house fixing his motorbike.

He had received detention for a week for punching Kent. I was glad that someone punched him when I couldn't.

"I'm going out tonight, you in?" Beth asked as she walked into my room.

"It's a weekday," I said.

"And when has that ever stopped you before?" Beth laughed.

"My ID says I'm 17, remember?"

"Daisy, I know you better than that," Beth said and grabbed my purse, pulling out my real ID.

I rolled my eyes and snatched it from her. "Beth, I've not been out since... Since it happened."

"Oh shit, I completely forgot, don't worry about it-"

"No," I said and glanced at the screwed up letter on my bed. "Let's do it."

Beth and I ditched the evening 'group' session about the mission and got ready instead. Because I had limited movement in my injured hands Beth expertly did my makeup so my bruises were invisible and I slipped into skin tight red dress that reached just above my knees and showed off just enough cleavage to still look classy. I paired the outfit with some simple black flats.

"We look hot," Beth said, admiring us in the mirror. She was in a skirt and crop top and had grown a few inches because of her killer black heels.

"We're so vain," I teased and ruffled up my silver hair that had been styled into bouncy curls that reached the middle of my back.

"With a body like yours I would not stop looking at myself!" Beth gasped and grabbed her purse.

"Shut up," I laughed and grabbed my black clutch which contained my real ID, money and my phone.

"Shall we go? The taxi is here," Beth said and I linked my arm through hers.

"We gotta get outta this house as quick as we can, if Eli or Blake spot us we won't be going anywhere," I said.

"Hopefully they should all be discussing today," Beth said and walked out of my room and quietly made our way downstairs. Beth eyed the front door and looked at me. "Coast is clear," she said and within seconds we were out of the house and outside into the dark night.

I looked across the road and paused when I saw Jasper standing by one of the upstairs windows. His eyes landed on me and I smirked, raising my middle finger up at him and climbing into the taxi that was parked on the road.

"Where to, girls?" The taxi driver asked and I glanced back at Jasper as the taxi driver drove away.

"Anywhere where I can get a drink."

"How you doing?" Beth shouted into my ear.

"Better than I expected," I admitted as a guy brushed past me on his way to the bar. The club was busy and the music was loud; I thought I might have freaked out, but I was dealing with it well. On the inside I screamed whenever a guy touched me, but on the outside you never would have thought something was wrong.

"Atta girl," Beth grinned and passed me a shot.

I smiled and took it.

A few hours later I was relatively sober. It was my first night out since it happened and part of me wanted to stay sober and alert.

"Beth!" I said and clutched Beth's arm. "I'm going to the ladies room!"

"Want me to come with you?" She asked and I smirked and shook my head, glancing at the guy she was dancing with.

"You crack on with him," I chuckled and pushed my way through the dancing bodies and to the toilets. I did my business and was making my way back to Beth when I was grabbed and pulled to the side. "Hey!" I threw my elbow back and smirked when I felt it connect with a face and I span round to face the person who grabbed me. "Fuck," I cursed and looked up at Jasper who wiped blood from his mouth.

"Fuck indeed," Jasper said and grabbed my arm. "I told you we'd come and get you."

"You've got to be kidding me," I groaned. "Just leave me the hell alone!"

"I wish it were that simple," Jasper muttered and took hold of my other arm and shoved me forward. "Let's go."

I gritted my teeth as we walked through the club and scowled at the ground as we neared the exit. I eyed the bouncer as we approached the doors and an idea came to me. "Hey!" I yelled and span round, shoving Jasper away from me. "I told you to stop following me, creep! Stay the hell away from me!"

"Is everything alright here?" The bouncer called, stepping forward and narrowing his eyes at Jasper who scoffed and shook his head.

"Daisy, cut the shit," Jasper said and turned to the bouncer. "I'm sorry, she's my sister and she's underage and our father is currently freaking out. I'm just trying to get her home before she gets grounded for the rest of her life."

"What!" I gasped. "No! He's not my brother! Oh, come on! Don't tell me you believe this twat!"

"Daisy!" Jasper snapped. "Stop being so damn difficult!"

The bouncer looked between Jasper and I for a few moments before smiling at Jasper. "Get her home safe, man."

"What!" I exclaimed and Jasper smirked, taking my arm and pulling me out of the club. "I fucking hate you."

"Noted," Jasper said and led me over to a car that was parked on the road. He shoved me in and before I had the chance to climb out he was in the drivers side and had locked the doors. "How did you even get in there? You're 17?" Jasper reached over and grabbed my clutch, opening it and pulling out my real ID. "Ah, fake," he said and inspected it. "This is a good fake."

"Really?" I said and tried to snatch it back but Jasper slipped it into his pocket.

"I'll be keeping that," he tutted and I scowled at him as he started the engine.

"The letter was a lovely touch," I said sarcastically and crossed my arms over my chest.

"Shame it went to waste," Jasper said and raised his eyebrows at me.

"Did you really expect me to do anything you ask me to?" I said and rolled my eyes.

"You will," Jasper shrugged.

"In your dreams," I scoffed. "So where are we going? Do you want to forcefully take anymore of my blood."

"No, we got what we needed the first time," Jasper said.

"And what was that?"

"Nice try," Jasper smirked. "Daisy, when is your birthday?"

"It comforts me slightly that you don't already know," I murmured. "Why do you care?"

"I ask the questions, Daisy," Jasper said.

"1st September," I sighed.

"Year?"

"2000."

"Are you sure?"

"Do you think I'm stupid?" I said and arched an eyebrow. "I know my damn birthday."

Jasper frowned. "Your parents, tell me about them."

"Nothing to tell," I said coldly.

"There must be something."

"There isn't, they're dead," I snapped. "Now stop with the bloody questions."

"Sorry," Jasper said.

"Oh, the sympathy I hear is heartwarming," I said sarcastically. "Where are we going?"

"Did you read the letter? Richard wants to speak to you."

"Why?"

Jasper didn't say anything and soon we pulled up outside his house.

"What if I don't want to talk to him?"

"You say it like you have a choice," Jasper said and climbed out of the car. I sighed and shoved the car door open and got out. I glanced over at my house and then to Jasper. "Don't."

"Something is telling me I'm a little faster than you," I said and slammed the car door.

"Something is telling me that if you run now we'll just get you later," Jasper said. "You're just delaying the inevitable."

"Delaying is better than nothing," I shrugged and I turned on my heel and sprinted across the road to the house. I gasped when I felt Jasper grab my wrist as I reached the steps, but I pulled free of his grasp and burst through the front door and slammed it behind me.

I let out a breath and soothed out my dress. "What a shit ending to a night," I muttered.

"Where the hell have you been?" Blake called and I smiled when he appeared.

"Trying and failing to have a good night," I said and slipped out of my shoes. "Night."

"Daisy-"

I flipped Blake off as I walked past him and up the stairs. I bumped into Dante on the way and scrunched my face up at him. He was a pale, shivering mess.

"You look like shit," I called.

"You know how to treat someone who's ill," he croaked and hobbled into his room.

I shrugged my shoulders and finally made it to my room. I chucked my shoes on the floor and walked over to my window, looking over at Jasper's house.

"How can I get away from them?" I murmured and scratched my wrist. I gasped softly and looked down at my wrist. "Away from all of this."
