It was silent and Adam’s voice in my earpiece made me jump. “Daisy, everyone is ready. Are you in position?”
“Babe, let’s go,” Beth said. She took a shaky breath.
“You’re nervous.”
“I’m not like you, I get nervous on missions,” she said quickly.
“Don’t get killed, yeah?” I said.
“You too,” she said and forced a smile. I opened the door we were crouched behind and looked into the hallway.
“We will be in 30 seconds,” I whispered to Adam and led the way into the empty hallway. We made our way back to the end of the hall and I could see Adam, Kyle, and the others from Richard’s Agency across on the other side of the room crouched down 5 meters away from an agent. He caught my eye and nodded.
“Take out as many as you can without be spotted, but it’ll get to a point when we’ll have no choice but to expose ourselves,” Adam said.
I looked to Eli and gestured to the two agents round the corner from us. He nodded and we kept low and made our way around the corner. The agents’ backs were to us, but it would only take one of them glancing to the side to spot us. I made it to the furthest agent and I swiped my foot under his legs. He was on the ground in seconds and I pinned him to the ground, holding my hand over his mouth and a knife to his neck.
“Make a sound and I will rip your vocal cords to shreds,” I whispered. I looked to the side and saw Eli dragging the agent he had taken down around the corner where the rest of the group was. The agent below me struggled as I pulled him around the corner, but as soon as I applied pressure to the knife he stopped. We tied them up and put them with the other agents we had restrained. When we were done we returned to the main area. I crept up to one of the pillars that connected the small barrier that looked over to the ground floor.
“There’s no way to get down there without being noticed,” I said to Jasper who was next to me.
“We can take out all the agents on the upper walkways, but all those on the ground are still going to be there,” Eli sighed. “It’s going to come down to a fight.”
“I might as well get it started then,” I said and looked to where the elevators where.
“What’s your plan?”
“By now, most people know who I am,” I said. “They aren’t going to kill me. Rob won’t kill me.”
“You don’t know that they won’t-”
I cut Jasper off. “You’ve not been raised by him, trust me, he would have given orders for me to live. He’s a sick bastard but you didn’t see what he was like when I did die. He wants me to live.”
“So, what are you going to do?” Jasper asked.
“I’ll figure that out as I go,” I said and smirked. “I’m good at making shit up.”
I crept down the hallway and headed towards the stairs that led down to the floor. “Daisy!” Jasper hissed. “What are you doing!”
“I’m with your brother here, are you stupid?” Jack whispered. “They won’t kill you, but they will shoot you!”
“Just have a little faith in me,” I said back and stopped by the stairs. “Just have my back, okay guys?”
“Trust her,” Eli said lowly. He caught my eye and nodded. “We’ll be right behind you if you need us.”
I nodded and stood up. My shoes clicked loudly on the steps as I descended the stairs and within seconds every single agent on the ground floor had their guns aimed at me. I slowly raised my hands above my head and stopped on the last couple of steps, overlooking the crowd of agents that looked very ready to kill.
“Daisy, what the fuck!” Adam snapped into my ear.
“Trust me, bro,” I said quietly and looked at the agents in front of me. “I come in peace and all that shit,” I called.
“Traitor!” A guy called Marcel stepped forward. He was rather high up the ranks and answered directly to Rob. “Tell me why I shouldn’t kill you right now, Daisy.”
“Because as much as he probably hates me at the moment, Rob would have your head,” I said slowly. “Now lower your damn gun, you’re not going to shoot me.”
“Try me,” Marcel snapped. “You’re here to kill Rob, why the hell would I lower my gun?”
“All I want is quite simple. I want to get to the elevator. Now, you’re either going to let me through, or you’re going to get hurt.”
“In your dreams,” Marcel scoffed. “Traitorous bitch. You’re turning on your own father!”
“He’s not my dad,” I shrugged and stepped down onto the next step. Marcel’s finger went to the trigger.
“Stay right where you are, Daisy,” he warned.
“Just let me through,” I said slowly. I took another step.
“Stay fucking still!” Marcel yelled.
“Why don’t you want me to get closer?” I wondered. I took another step and I was very aware of the many guns pointed right at me.
“Careful, Dais,” Joey’s voice said into my ear.
“Scared that you won’t be able to take me?” I whispered. I was on the ground now. Two meters from Marcel. “You’ve got a clean shot. Close distance. You won’t miss it from there.”
“I will shoot you!” Marcel growled.
“And risk killing me?” I said. I stepped closer. “And then have Rob after you?”
Marcel glared at me and I lowered my hands. “Turn around, Daisy, and put your hands back up.”
I stopped walking and shrugged. “Okay, fine. Since you asked so nicely.” I turned around and raised my arms above my head.
“On your knees,” Marcel ordered. I could hear him coming closer.
I slowly lowered myself onto the ground and looked up, catching Eli’s eye. He nodded and the group made their way towards the stairs.
“I tried this the nice way,” I said as Marcel grabbed my wrist. I threw my elbow back and twisted my wrist out of his grasp. I was upright instantly and I slammed my fist into Marcel’s jaw. I grabbed his hand and twisted it painfully behind his back. I then thrust my foot down on the back of his knee and he yelled out in pain which masked the sound of his bones cracking. I picked up his gun and looked at the agents around me who were staring with wide eyes. “Hard way it is,” I sighed within seconds I was joined by Eli, Jasper, Beth, Tom, Jack, and Erik.
“There’s no point in sneaking around anymore,” Eli yelled. “Let’s do what we came here for!”
The rest of our agents made themselves known and soon it was absolute carnage.
“You’re mental,” Jasper whispered into my ear before turning around and engaging in a fight with an agent.
I couldn’t help but smile. “Eli,” I said and looked in the direction of the elevators. The path was blocked by numerous agents.
“Together?” Eli said.
“Together,” I nodded. We set off together, watching each other’s backs, blocking and taking agents down as we went. “Duck,” I said to Eli. He immediately did and I grabbed one of my knives and aimed it at the agent who was coming up behind Eli. The knife sliced the agent’s leg, leaving him with a small cut.
“You missed,” the agent smirked and carried on towards us.
“I never miss,” I said and the agent stumbled. His eyes rolled to the back of his head and he fell to the ground in a heap. “Laced with sedative, great little trick.”
“Daisy!” Eli yelled and I gasped when I was grabbed from behind and thrown to the floor. I groaned as I rolled over, but I was up instantly and faced the person who had grabbed me. Eli was facing off with another agent.
“Bitch,” I said to the guy that had grabbed me. He was large, much taller than me and his muscles were the size of my head.
“You’re not getting to that elevator,” the guy growled.
“And you’re going to stop me?” I said. “Don’t flatter yourself, babe.” I ran at him, reaching for his shoulders. I jumped up and got a secure grip with both hands and swung myself around him wrapping my legs around him so I was securely on his back. I secured my arms around his neck and held on tight, cutting off his air.
“You bitch!” The guy choked and clawed at my arms, but my grip was rock solid.
“It’s your fault for taking me on,” I growled. The guy stumbled backward and I yelled when he slammed me into a wall, but my grip didn’t loosen. I tightened my hold and braced myself for him throwing me back against the wall again. I swore when my head hit the wall painfully, but I held on and soon the guy began to weaken. He fell to his knees and I kept the pressure on his neck until I was sure he was unconscious.
“Daisy, you good?” Eli called. He ducked a punch from a female agent and then a single blow from him knocked her out.
“Just wonderful,” I said and reached up and gently touched my head. I looked at my fingers and sighed when I saw blood. “That fucking hurt.”
Eli reached out and grabbed me, yanking me out of the way as an agent ran at me. I took out one of my knives and threw it, it landed in the agent’s calf. “Thanks,” I said.
“Let’s go,” Eli muttered and pulled me towards the elevator. Little by little, we were getting closer. “You take the one on the left,” Eli said to me when two agents stood in our way.
“Gladly,” I said and stepped towards the agent that was opposite me.
“Turning on your own father,” she said and scoffed. “You’re one fucked up bitch.”
“Today is not the day to piss me off,” I said and held my arms out. “Try and take me down, I fucking dare you.”
The female agent threw the first punch. She was weak. I caught her fist and grabbed a handful of her hair, bringing her head down and smashing her face onto my knee. She yelled out and I shoved her to the ground. I turned to look at Eli and stepped towards him just as he was kicked in the face.
“Don’t worry about me, princess,” he called and fought back against the agent he was fighting. “Fucking look behind you!”
I gasped when my arms were grabbed and held securely behind my back. I tried to heave the person holding me over my shoulders, but they were way too heavy. “Get the fuck off me,” I hissed.
“You’ve always been a cocky little shit,” the agent holding me said into my ear. He tightened his grasp on me and I winced. “You’ve had this coming.”
“You’re just jealous because I’m better than you,” I said as the girl I had just shoved to the ground stood up and walked up to me.
“Not so good now, are you?” She said and punched me in the stomach.
The wind was knocked out of me and pain exploded in my abdomen, but I couldn’t help but laugh when I saw she had a knuckle duster on her fist. I looked down at my stomach and saw small spots of blood seeping through my white top. “You’re not even good enough to do the job yourself,” I said.
“Shut up,” the girl snapped and my world went black for a few seconds when she punched me in the face. I felt the sharp points of the knuckle duster pierce my skin and my legs buckled.
“Bitch,” I gasped and felt blood trickling down my temple. My face felt like a bomb had just been let off next to it. I forced myself to stand and shook my head, hoping that the blow wouldn’t fully knock me out. My vision was slightly blurred but I saw the girl swinging at me again. “I’ve had enough of you know.” I kicked my leg up, blocking the girl’s punch with my foot. Using the weight of the person holding me, I swung my body up and wrapped my legs around the girl’s neck. Using all the power I had I threw her to the ground and smiled when her neck loudly crashed on the hard flooring. “One down,” I said and I hooked my foot around the leg of the person behind me. He stumbled and I used his moment of weakness to haul him forward and over my shoulder. He hit the floor with a satisfying crack and I took my gun out and landed a blow to his head to make sure he’d stay down.
“Daisy!” Eli yelled and he dropped an unconscious agent to the floor and threw a knife at another one before coming over to me. “Are you okay?”
“Just feeling a little light-headed, give me a sec,” I muttered and wiped the blood from my face. Eli lifted my top up and I had three puncture wounds on my stomach from the knuckle duster. He was now sporting a cut on his eyebrow and lip and blood was smeared through his blond hair. “I’m fine, let’s go.”
“Are you sure?”
