Alpha's Caged Love

An unexpected delight

Ch. 158 / 159 May 05, 2026

Max and Kylie took a few more heat cycles to finally succeed, but the wait was worth it. By then, Kristine was well into her second winter, blossoming into a lively and curious two-year-old toddler. Her laughter filled the air like a melodious song, and her boundless energy brought smiles to everyone's faces.

"Congratulations, Max and Kylie! Everything looks perfect, and it won't be long now before you have a little one to chase after," their doctor exclaimed, examining the ultrasound images.

Max and Kylie beamed with joy; their hearts filled with anticipation for their baby.

"Thank you, Dr. Colin! This is fantastic news!" Max exclaimed. "We couldn't be more thrilled, Dr. Colin. This is a dream come true."

"So, it's true!" Kylie mumbled, as if in disbelief. "Being a werewolf healed me."

Dr. Colin nodded, understanding the significance of Kylie's words. "Yes, your unique werewolf abilities have played a role in your healing process. It's truly remarkable." Max and Kylie exchanged a glance, their bond as werewolves now intertwined with the miracle of new life growing within Kylie.

After expressing their gratitude and sharing their plans for the upcoming addition to their family, Max and Kylie left the examination room.

Jennifer, who had been waiting, said this to Dr. Colin.

"Well, it looks like our pack is growing again, doesn't it? I'm so excited to see the family expand."

Dr. Colin smiled warmly at Jennifer and replied, "Yes, it's always a joyous occasion when a family grows."

"Speaking of new beginnings and exciting developments, Jennifer, I have a little proposition for you."

Jennifer raised an intrigued eyebrow, her curiosity piqued. "Oh? What's this, Dr. Colin?"

Dr. Colin cleared his throat, his cheeks blushing ever so slightly. "Well, Jennifer, do you like basketball?"

Jennifer's eyes widened in surprise, and her cheeks turned a rosy shade of pink. "Basketball?"

"Yeah, I mean, I have two tickets for a match next week. And I was wondering if you would like to come along."

Jennifer's surprise turned to excitement as she considered the offer. "That sounds like a lot of fun, Dr. Colin! I've never been to a basketball game before. I don't know what to say."

"Say yes, Mum," Selena added as she leant on the door frame.

Jennifer glanced over at her daughter, Selena, who had been listening in on their conversation.

"What are you doing here?"

"I am just here for a checkup." Selena beamed. Her little daughter peeped from behind Selena.

Jennifer smiled at Selena's response.

"You have been working so hard. You need a break."

Jennifer nodded in agreement. "You're right, Selena. I need a break. And what better way to relax than by going to a basketball game with Dr. Colin?"

"Wonderful!" Selena beamed. "So, it's a date!"

"What?" Jennifer turned a deeper shade of crimson, and Dr. Colin smiled sheepishly.

"I mean, if you're up for it," Dr. Colin added, trying to ease the awkwardness. Selena giggled mischievously, sensing her mother's embarrassment.

"Selena!" Jennifer gasped. "I can't at this age!"

"Excuse me, Dr. Colin. I need to have a word with my mum," Selena announced.

Selena pulled her mother aside from the examination room. Little Kristine looked at the two women with wonder and toddled after them.

"Mum, why are you so reluctant? You like him. It's obvious." Selena whispered, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

"Selena, it's been a very long time since I was in a relationship. You know how it was for me."

Selena nodded understandingly; her voice filled with empathy. "I know, Mum. But you deserve to be happy and find love again. Don't let the past hold you back from taking a chance on someone who genuinely cares about you."

"I know, but what if it doesn't work out? What if I get hurt again?" Selena's mother interrupted, her voice tinged with fear and uncertainty.

"Mum, you need to move on. That man hurt all of us. Even my half-brother. He was abusive, period. It's over."

"Can you forgive me for not protecting you?" Jennifer asked.

"Oh, Mum. How could you protect me when you couldn't protect yourself? Yes, I forgive you. Now, let's put it behind us and plan your date."

Selena drew her mum into a hug and closed her eyes. A small noise sounded near her, and she observed Kirstine launching all the paper cups from the water fountain like a missile.

Selena chuckled and released her mum from the hug. "It looks like Kirstine is having some fun over there," she commented, trying to lighten the mood. "I will see you later, mum. Go say yes."

"But what about your checkup, Selena?" Jennifer reminded her.

"I can come later, mum." Actually, I just needed confirmation from Dr. Colin."

"For what? Are you OK, Selena?" Jennifer asked with concern.

Selena smiled reassuringly. "I'm fine, mum. I just wanted to double-check. I think I am pregnant."

Jennifer's eyes widened in surprise. "Pregnant? Oh my goodness, Selena! That's wonderful news!" She exclaimed, her voice filled with joy and excitement. Selena nodded, her own smile growing wider.

"Yes, mum. I wanted to make sure before sharing the news with Cayden. Dr. Colin will confirm it for me."

Jennifer reached out and hugged Selena tightly. "I'm so happy for you, sweetheart. Cayden is going to be over the moon!" she said, her voice filled with anticipation. And with so many new births happening in the pack, it means Luna is happy, and she is healing our scars."

"Which means you must heal your heart as well, mother." Selena spoke gently, her eyes filled with compassion.

Jennifer nodded, tears of joy and gratitude welling up in her eyes. "You're right, Selena. I should try it. But before that, you must see Dr. Colin. I need to know if I am going to become a grandmother again."

Jennifer looked after Kristine while Selena went to see Dr. Colin.

"Selena," Dr. Colin said as she entered his office.

"Well, mum has agreed to the date." She smiled back at him.

"Thank you, Selena. I'm glad Jennifer is open to trying it. I promise I will keep her happy."

"Of course, doctor, I trust you will take good care of her."

Selena hesitated for a moment, her eyes sparkling with a mixture of joy and trepidation. "I think I might be pregnant, Dr. Colin. Can you confirm it for me?"

Dr. Colin nodded and motioned for her to take a seat. "Of course, Selena. Let's do a check-up and find out."

As he did the test, Selena's mind was filled with thoughts of her growing family. Even though the centre was for medical reasons, it had a happy vibe that made her feel at ease. When she saw a tiny wolf toy in the corner with its little stethoscope hanging off, it made her laugh. She said with a smile, "I see your little helper is busy."

Dr. Colin chuckled. "Yes, he's the most dedicated member of the pack. Now, let's see." After a few moments, he stepped back and beamed at Selena. "Congratulations, Selena! You're indeed pregnant."

Selena's face lit up with joy, her tail wagging uncontrollably. "Oh, that's wonderful news, Dr. Colin!"

Dr. Colin patted her on the back. "I'm happy for you, Selena. It's always a joy to deliver good news."

A panicked and dishevelled Cayden soon interrupted their conversation. He burst through the door of Dr. Colin's clinic; his eyes were wild with fear. "Dr. Colin! What's happened to Selena? Is she okay? Is something wrong with her?"

Dr. Colin raised an eyebrow, his face a mask of confusion, as he watched Cayden's dramatic entrance. "Cayden, calm down! Selena is perfectly fine. In fact, she's doing great."

Cayden, still panting from his rush, stared at Dr. Colin in disbelief. "Fine? What are you talking about?"

Selena, who had been waiting patiently, couldn't hold back her laughter any longer. She stepped forward, her eyes dancing with amusement. "Cayden, it's all good! I'm pregnant again."

Cayden's eyes widened as the realisation sank in. He blinked a few times, then let out a nervous chuckle. "Really? You could have told me that right away."

Selena grinned and hugged her mate. "You didn't let me speak."

Dr. Colin joined in the laughter, enjoying the delightful chaos. He leans against the wall, his smile widening. "Well, congratulations to both of you! It looks like you'll have your hands full. In fact, the pack is brimming with new babies. I just had a visitor before you." He stopped.

"Who was the visitor?" Selena asked, her curiosity piqued.

"Well, I should not be making this announcement, patient's discretion, you see," he winked at them. "But you will find out soon."
