Third Person's POV
After Patrick's passing, Luana thought her life would gradually return to calm.
However, surprises emerged swiftly.
Her parents fell victim to a rogue invasion, losing their lives in the defense against the rogues.
Still a child, Luana was incapable of leading the pack.
The Black Thorn Pack withered away.
From being the daughter of an Alpha, Luana became an orphan.
She entered an orphanage, unknown to all as a werewolf.
Perhaps influenced by Patrick in her early years, she rarely indulged in self-pity.
Thus, she grew up in Los Angeles, studying and working.
Yet, until adulthood, her wolf never emerged.
Luana speculated it might be because she no longer had a pack.
Regardless, she concealed her werewolf identity, living in Los Angeles like a human.
Until she met Cline.
Cline was a corporate president. The first time Luana saw him, she noticed he was also a werewolf.
Later, Luana became Cline's secret lover.
Unexpectedly, she held this role for five years.
Cline returned to the States, and as his secret lover, Luana was promptly taken to Mansion No. 8.
According to the agreement, before seeing him, she must wash herself clean, without a hint of perfume or makeup.
She strictly followed his preferences, thoroughly cleansed herself, changed into silk pajamas, and went to the second-floor bedroom.
At that moment, Cline was sitting in front of the computer handling business affairs.
Seeing her enter, he glanced at her indifferently.
"Come here," his voice was cold to the extreme, devoid of any emotional fluctuation. It reached Luana's ears, striking her heart, making her feel incredibly heavy and oppressed.
He was naturally cold and often capricious.
Fearing his anger, Luana dared not delay and quickly walked to him.
Before she could steady herself, Cline abruptly pulled her into his arms, his slender fingers tightly gripping her chin.
He seemed noble and exuded an air of abstinence, yet in such matters, there was no elegance, only dominance and ferocity.
He slightly released his Alpha aura.
Although Luana didn't have a wolf, she keenly felt that pressure.
He had been abroad for three months, not being close to a woman for so long. Tonight, he would likely not let her go easily.
As she expected, Cline was more frantic than usual.
It wasn't until she fell into a faint that Cline was satisfied.
When she slowly woke up, the spot beside her was already empty, but she heard the pitter-patter of water from the bathroom.
She looked in the direction of the sound and saw a vague, slender figure outlined on the frosted glass.
Luana was slightly surprised. He usually left immediately after, never waiting for her to wake up. This time, he hadn't left?
She struggled to sit up from the bed, weak and feeble, quietly and obediently waiting for the man to come out.
A few minutes later, the water in the bathroom stopped, and Cline emerged wrapped in a towel.
Water droplets from the ends of his hair fell on his honey-colored skin, then slowly slid down to his abs, those firm and strong lines exuding a fatal temptation.
He had an exquisitely handsome face, as if carved by a knife, with distinct, three-dimensional features, and those indifferent, distant eyes, deep and obscure.
His appearance was extraordinarily handsome, but the cold aura he exuded made people reluctant to approach him.
Cline saw that she was already awake, his icy eyes just glancing at her indifferently.
"From now on, you don't have to come anymore," his tone was cold, without a trace of warmth.
Luana was momentarily stunned, wondering what "don't have to come" meant.
Cline withdrew his gaze from her, turned, picked up a document, and handed it to her. "This contract was terminated early."
When she saw the lover's agreement, Luana finally realized that Cline wanted to completely end their relationship.
This time, he didn't leave directly, not because he was reluctant to part with her, but because he wanted to break up with her.
She had followed him for five years, expecting such a day, but not in such a manner.
No reason was given, no extra explanation, just a cold notification.
She tried to suppress the sharp pain in her heart, slowly raised her head and looked at Cline, who was dressing.
'The contract is only half a year away from expiration. Can't you wait a little longer?' she thought to herself.
The doctor told her she only had three months to live, and she wished to accompany him a little longer until the end of her life.
Cline did not respond, just looked at her quietly, his eyes as cold as frost, without any trace of nostalgia or reluctance, as if discarding an item he had grown tired of.
His silence made Luana clearly realize her situation.
Five years had quietly passed, yet she still failed to warm his cold heart. It was time for this long dream to awaken.
She took the contract, feigned a relaxed smile, and revealed a quiet, beautiful smile, "Don't be so serious, I was just joking."
Then she quickly added, "I've long wanted to stop this. Now that the contract is terminated early, I'm happier than ever."
