Trapped by Him

Chapter 285

Ch. 283 / 398 Feb 22, 2026

If that was the case, why had Cline not hesitated to spend a fortune to spend a night with Luana five years ago?

Even after that night, he had insisted she sign the agreement.

And each time they were together, his behavior was nearly out of control.

She really couldn't believe all of this. Just as she was about to ask Joan where she had heard these gossipy news stories, she saw the door of the CEO's private elevator slowly open.

The chairman's special assistant, Laura, and several department heads were the first to step out of the elevator.

They bowed towards the person inside the elevator and made an inviting gesture, saying, "Mr. Moriarty, Miss Ortega, you have arrived at the CEO's office area. This way, please."

As soon as the words were spoken, a man dressed in a luxurious custom-tailored suit walked out of the elevator.

His face was as deep and exquisite as an ancient Greek sculpture, every contour as if carefully carved by God. His deep blue eyes seemed to hold endless secrets and charm.

Under his tall nose, thin lips curled up, carrying a hint of indifference and detachment.

He was tall and straight, with broad shoulders and a narrow waist, exuding an innate noble temperament in every move.

He seemed like a top male model walking off the cover of a fashion magazine, or an elegant nobleman walking out of an ancient castle.

One could not help but feel inferior in his presence and dared not look him in the eye.

Luana recognized Cline at a glance.

At that moment, she felt as if her heart had been heavily struck, and her heartbeat had lost its rhythm.

She was full of doubts and did not understand why he would appear at Winward Group.

Before she could figure it out, she saw Cline slightly turn, extending his long and well-defined hand towards the elevator.

Soon, a fair and delicate hand gently rested in his palm.

Cline gently pulled, tightly holding that hand, and slowly led a lady out of the elevator.

When Luana's gaze fell on the lady's face, she suddenly realized.

She finally understood why Cline would be willing to have that night's entanglement with her.

It turned out that her appearance bore some resemblance to the dream lover in his heart. Although not identical, the charm between the eyebrows and eyes had a subtle overlap.

Just this slight similarity was enough for Luana to face the cruel reality.

She had always been deceiving herself, thinking that Cline had some special feelings for her, but she did not expect that she was just a substitute in his eyes.

Her heart felt as if a sharp dagger had stabbed it, and a sharp pain came.

Sabrina noticed Luana's abnormality and hurriedly asked with concern, "Luana, what's wrong? Are you feeling unwell?"

Luana shook her head slightly, enduring the inner pain.

Sabrina wanted to ask again, but at this time, Laura had already led Cline and Miss Ortega over.

Luana quickly lowered her head, staring at the ground, not daring to look at them.

Her hands were on the keyboard, but she could not stop trembling, as if out of control.

Laura introduced them one by one, saying, "This is the CEO's office area. The staff inside are all assistants to the CEO. Miss Ortega, if you have any needs, you can command them at any time."

Miss Ortega nodded slightly, smiled, and greeted everyone, "Good morning, everyone. I am Luna, who will be your new Chief Executive Officer."

Hearing the name "Luna," Luana's body jerked violently, and her face turned even paler, bloodless.

Unconsciously, her mind recalled the intimate moments she had spent with Cline.

In those passionate moments, Cline always called Luna's name affectionately by her ear.

But now she understood that those tender calls were not exclusive to her but a reflection of his longing and attachment to another person.

Luana clenched her fists tightly, her fingernails deeply embedded in the flesh of her palms, but she seemed to feel no pain.

She kept blaming herself in her heart for being so foolish, falling in love with Cline without reservation just because of his occasional tenderness, and ending up in such a miserable situation.

After a brief self-introduction and a few formal words, Luna, holding Cline's arm, followed Laura towards the CEO's office.

Sabrina stretched her neck hard, her eyes fixed on the two receding figures, her face full of envy.

"On the first day at work, Mr. Moriarty escorted her. Is this what everyone often talks about, the domineering CEO and his delicate wife?"

Joan placed her hand on Sabrina's shoulder.

"You are still too naive. She just returned from abroad and took the position of CEO. Those old shareholders of Winward must be unhappy. So, on the first day at work, Mr. Moriarty escorted her to make those shareholders clear that she has the full support of Moriarty Group behind her."
