Torn Between my Alpha Mates

Chapter 131: Another Visit Part 1

Ch. 131 / 177 Dec 10, 2025

Zoya's P.O.V

When I woke up, I was feeling fine. When I showered, nothing was out of the ordinary. When I waved goodbye to Ezra from the front porch, I was feeling excited to head to work. When I got ready for work, I didn't feel anything wrong with me.

The day seemed bright and promising, the sun casting a warm glow over the pack house. I was all smiles as I walked to my car, a shiny blue new Nissan Terrano that Ezra had gifted me only this morning, waving at the members of Ezra's pack milling around. They smiled back. Some greeted me good morning. I felt a sense of belonging from these interactions.

It was going to be a good day.

But then when I started to drive towards the clinic via the route that Cam had shown me, a strange sensation tugged at the edges of my mind, drawing my attention to the intersection that led to Ezra's old house.

What was this feeling?

It was magnetic, a sudden, violent pull.

I tried to shake off the feeling, telling myself that I had no reason to go back there. My focus should be on the clinic and my duties as a doctor.

But the sensation persisted, a nagging voice in the back of my head that grew stronger with each passing second.

I couldn't quite put my finger on it, but something felt off, as if an invisible force was compelling me to return to that house.

It was an odd attraction, a sense of urgency that I couldn't explain.

I hesitated for a moment, my hands gripping the steering wheel tightly.

Should I go back? What was waiting for me there?

But the feeling persisted, growing stronger with each passing second until it was all I could think about.

It was as if someone was whispering in my ear, urging me to follow the call. And I feared that if I didn't go, I might miss something forever.

Something was telling me that the secret to Lily’s death was still inside that house, and I needed to unearth it before Silas and Ezra went into battle.

Curiosity and a touch of unease pushed me to make the turn, and I found myself heading back towards the remote area where Ezra's old house stood.

As I drove through the serene forest, the familiar scenery passed me by in a blur.

The soft rustling of leaves and the gentle sway of branches accompanied the rhythmic hum of the car engine, creating a peaceful ambiance.

However, my mind was anything but calm. Lost in my thoughts, I retraced the route back to the old house, my heart pounding with a mix of anticipation and unease.

The drive took longer than expected as I had already been well on my way to the clinic and had to turn back when I felt that strange urge, and the silence within the car only amplified my contemplation.

Memories of my previous visit to the house flashed in my mind, along with the unsettling feeling of being watched….

And then, there it was…

The morning sun painted the landscape in hues of gold, casting long shadows that danced across the road.

The beauty of the surroundings couldn't fully mask the sense of foreboding that gnawed at me.

As I approached the house, I noticed how the lush trees surrounding it seemed to sway in sync with the wind, their leaves rustling softly.

The house itself stood tall and imposing, bathed in sunlight, but its windows seemed to hold untold secrets within.

It looked harmless when I approached it, pristine in its beauty, but still, I felt as if a dark shadow was looming over it, like Lily’s death had changed the house somehow.

As I looked at the house now from the outside, I couldn't see anything out of the ordinary, so I didn't understand why I had this urgent feeling to come back.

Perhaps there was something inside that I had missed the other day…

Something important…

I parked the car and got out, the sense of being drawn closer becoming stronger with each step I took.

Upon reaching the front door, I hesitated, my hand hovering over the doorknob.

Should I enter? What if I discovered something I wasn't prepared for?

Despite my uncertainty, an unshakable determination takes over me. I couldn't afford to back down now; I must uncover the secrets that lie within these walls.

I had a feeling it was vital to stop the oncoming war from brewing.

Memories of my previous visit flash through my mind, reminding me of the strong emotions that this place holds – memories of love, loss, and a bond that transcended time.

It's as if the very air around the house holds the remnants of a tragedy, as if Lily's untimely death had cast an indelible mark on this once beautiful place.

Maybe I should check the places I wasn't able to go to last time. I had already explored the entirety of the interior with Cam.

Perhaps this gut feeling was telling me to explore its surroundings first.

So, I went around the house, guided by a force that I can't quite comprehend.

My intuition nudged me to investigate further, as if there's something I need to find – a missing piece of the puzzle that will help me understand the events that unfolded here.

I walked along the perimeter of the house, my eyes scanning every corner, hoping to stumble upon a clue, a sign of what transpired within these walls.

The garden, once brimming with life, now seemed somber, as if nature itself mourned the loss of a vibrant soul.

A gentle breeze rustled the leaves, and I couldn't help but feel as though the house itself was whispering secrets, beckoning me to uncover the truth.

But that was silly, wasn't it? Inanimate objects couldn't whisper…

One side of the house boasted a beautiful rose bush, its blooms once vibrant and full of life.

However, as I drew closer, my heart sank at the sight before me.

The once-lush roses now hung limply from the branches, their once-red petals turned to a haunting shade of black, as though burnt.

It was as if a dark force had extinguished the life from these delicate blooms, leaving them in a state of despair.

I found myself drawn to the window overlooking the living area, wondering if there's a connection between this ominous sight and the events that had unfolded inside the house.

I couldn't help but feel that there was something more to this seemingly lifeless rose bush, something that held a clue to the mysteries that shroud Lily's death.

I thought back to the strange lamp shade I found the other day, how it was out of place, completely black, among the other vibrant looking objects inside the house.

Was that lamp and this bush an indication of what had transpired the night that Lily died, somehow?
