Zoya’s P.O.V
As I stepped out of the car after Ezra, I couldn't help but marvel at the beauty and harmony that surrounded us.
The pack members greeted us warmly as we walked, their faces filled with joy as they watched Ezra escort me towards my new home.
For a second, I couldn’t even believe that I was living among wolves now. Because just like any human being, they curiously poured out of their housed, peeking through fences and large glass windows as we walked past the large, modern houses.
I was not a werewolf by any means, but being here, at the core of their territory, the heart of their home, I felt seen. Accepted. Like I had a place among them despite being different.
Upon our approach to the magnificent pack house, I couldn't help but be awestruck by its beauty.
Nestled at the edge of the clearing, the pack house seemed like a sanctuary surrounded by the embrace of nature. The scent of pine trees and earth permeated the air, infusing a sense of tranquility into my very being.
The house stood tall, its wooden walls looking sturdy and new, yet it felt inviting and cozy. I don’t know what exactly I had been expecting when I had stepped out of my old cabin and gotten into Ezra’s SUV…but this two storied house made of glass and wood that made it look like an expensive mansion, was definitely not what I had in my mind.
For wolves, they sure loved good architecture. And it was evident in almost all of the houses that I had walked past in the last few minutes.
The house had a driveway right in front of it, yet, Ezra had parked just at the entrance to the territory so that the people knew that Ezra’s mate was finally joining him in his house. And it had made me feel incredibly special.
Now, as I stood admiring the house that was about to become my home…I could feel the eyes of the entire pack on me as I stood beside Ezra, taking in my surroundings.
Vines crept along the sides of the house, adding a touch of whimsy to the sturdy structure. It seemed that the pack house designer was intent on integrating the surrounding forest aesthetic into the architecture.
As we stepped closer, the sound of a gentle stream nearby whispered like a secret, and I spotted a small wooden bridge that led over the water and into the front yard.
The yard was well-kept, adorned with colorful wildflowers that seemed to bloom cheerfully in harmony with the house's natural surroundings. If I had gotten here in the light of the morning instead of the dark of the night, I would have seen the flowers in their full beauty. But the packing had taken more time than I had anticipated, hence the delay.
Nonetheless, they still seemed to glow in the dim light of the moon.
As we stepped inside, I was greeted by Cam and Gustav, two of Ezra's most trusted pack members. Cam's infectious smile welcomed me with genuine kindness, while Gustav stood tall and strong, exuding an air of authority and protection.
Cam immediately came over to give me a hug, her joy evident. Seeing her in a different setting, outside the clinic, was a surprise, but at least I had a familiar face and a dear friend welcoming me to the pack.
"Welcome to your new home, Zoya," Gustav said warmly, leading me further into the house. "Ezra wouldn’t stop talking about you and now I can see why.” He gave me a soft chuckle. “We're thrilled to have you here with us."
I couldn't help but return Gustav and Cam's smile, feeling a sense of gratitude for their acceptance and hospitality. It was comforting to know that I wasn't alone in this new chapter of my life.
Cam led me through the entrance, and my senses were immediately greeted by a warm and comforting atmosphere.
The interior was adorned with tasteful decorations, and the walls were adorned with artwork depicting wolves, nature scenes, and symbols of unity.
Soft rugs covered the wooden floors, adding another element of comfort.
As we walked through the house, I noticed spacious rooms filled with cozy furniture, and large floor-to-ceiling glass windows that allowed natural light to flood in, illuminating every corner with a soft glow.
In the heart of the house, a grand fireplace dominated the living room, its dancing flames casting a mesmerizing display of shadows on the walls.
A sense of camaraderie seemed to linger in the air, as if countless pack members had gathered here to share tales and laughter.
The living room was adorned with animal furs and wooden furniture, a testament to the close connection between the pack and the natural world.
For the first time, I felt tears well up in my eyes as I looked up at Ezra. “This…is perfect. Thank you for bringing me here, Ezra.”
His smile was warm and filled with love as he wiped the tears from under my eyes. “I should’ve done this a long time ago, but I was worried that you wouldn’t be okay living here among us…”
“No…” I shook my head, understanding his hesitation. “I’m not afraid anymore. Not of wolves. I…I’ve never felt so welcomed in my life before…”
“You’ll always be welcome here, Zoya.” His words were soft and reassuring. “This pack belongs to you just as much as it belongs to me.”
"I know," I said gently. "Thank you." For the first time in my life, I felt like I truly belonged somewhere, and it was all thanks to Ezra and the incredible pack that welcomed me into their hearts and home.
“So…” Cam was suddenly beside me, her eyebrows wiggling in a teasing manner as a wide grin spread across her face. “Did he pass the decoration test? Is everything to your liking?”
“Ezra got all these done for me?” My eyes widened in shock as I looked around the house yet again. “How long did it take him?”
“Oh, he’s been getting these things ready for a while now.” Cam waved her hand in front of her face dismissively. “You know what? The pack actually began suspecting that Ezra had found his second chance mate a while ago. They even started betting.”
“Betting?” I gasped, already knowing where this was headed. “Cam…you didn’t!”
“Yes, I did, sweetheart and I won!” If possible, her grin widened even further.
“Not fair!” I told her. “You knew me personally! The other’s didn’t!”
“Well… it was their fault for letting me bet in the first place!” She said stubbornly, refusing to give up.
“So…umm…where am I going to stay?” I asked, turning to Ezra. Since it was only the four of us here, it was a more intimate setting of people who we trusted, so it didn’t really matter what we talked about. But it did help that Gustav and Cam had just gone to unpack the stuff that had just arrived at the driveway via the truck.
Ezra lifted his brows in amusement. “Well… this house does have four guest bedrooms, you can choose any of them if you want.” And then a smirk lifted his lips. “However, my room is the largest and it’s just down the hall. We can totally share if you want to.”
