Zoya's P.O.V
The next morning, as the sun began to rise, I eagerly waited for Cam to pick me up from my new home so she could show me around.
My heart was brimming with anticipation as I thought about visiting Ezra's old house, a place that held so much history and memories.
When Cam showed me to the garage and pointed at which car was hers, I wasted no time and hopped into the passenger seat, a wide smile stretching across my face.
Usually, I’ve only ever seen Cam drive her motorbike, so it was refreshing to see her drive a car for the first time.
“Why don’t you ever bring your car to work?” I asked, genuinely curious.
“Nah! Have you seen this baby?” She raised her eyebrows, adoration for her car evident, and even though I didn’t know the model of the car, I could guess that it was expensive. “The road to the town is filled with a rocky patch which isn’t good for my baby. I’d rather keep her in the garage than risk getting scratches.”
I nodded in understanding. I didn’t have knowledge about cars and Ezra had finally convinced me to sell my junk of a car, but I have to say…it may have been a junk but I missed it dearly.
The car ride was filled with excitement and chatter as Cam caught me up on the latest pack gossip as well as filled me in on everything that was happening at the clinic during my absence.
Since I was now living in the heart of the pack, getting familiar with everyone around me, it was easier for her to share gossip about the pack members and I was actually starting to be able to put faces to most of the names she was taking.
The forest surrounded us, enveloping the road in a canopy of green leaves. The wind played with my hair, and the scent of pine and earth filled the air, making me feel alive and connected to the world of the Sapphire Mountains.
Cam expertly navigated the winding roads, and with each turn, the anticipation inside me grew stronger.
My heart fluttered with excitement, and I could hardly wait to see Ezra's old house up close.
The stories from Cam that I had heard about this place made me feel as if I knew it already, but seeing it in person was an entirely different experience.
Finally, we arrived at our destination, and Cam parked the car outside Ezra's old house, and I couldn't help but be taken aback by its breathtaking beauty.
The house stood in a secluded area, nestled right beside a majestic cliff, and the view was nothing short of mesmerizing.
Rays of sunlight danced on the walls, creating a warm and welcoming glow. The large windows allowed the natural light to flood the interior, giving the house an ethereal quality.
I stepped out of the car, my eyes tracing the elegant architecture that blended perfectly with the surrounding mountains.
The house seemed to be in harmony with nature, as if it were an extension of the landscape itself. Ivy climbed gracefully up the walls, adding a touch of natural charm to the already stunning facade.
As I walked closer, I noticed the intricate details of the front door. It was adorned with delicate carvings, telling a story of its own.
Each step I took brought me closer to the allure of the house, and I couldn't resist running my fingers along the smooth wood.
Cam opened the door for me with the spare keys that were nestled under the rug placed in front of the door and finally…I stepped inside the house, feeling a strange sense of anticipation in the air.
Inside, the interior was equally captivating. The open floor plan created a sense of spaciousness, allowing the beauty of the mountains to be visible from nearly every corner of the house.
The rooms were large and airy, however there was little to no furniture left in the place and hardly any paintings on the wall like in the house that we currently lived in. A grand staircase adorned with a beautiful wrought-iron railing led to the upper floors, adding a touch of elegance to the living space.
"What do you think?" Cam asked, breaking me out of my reverie. I turned to her with wide eyes, unable to hide my awe.
"It's... incredible," I finally managed to say, my voice filled with wonder. "Really…beautiful."
Cam smiled, clearly proud of the house and its owner. "Ezra has always had an eye for beauty. This place was a labor of love for him and Lily."
I could see the memories reflected in his eyes as he spoke. This house held so much history and love, and I felt honored to be here, getting a glimpse into a part of Ezra's life that he had kept private.
The breathtaking view from the large windows captivated me as I wandered through the rooms.
As I stood by one of the windows, gazing out at the landscape, I couldn't help but feel a sense of serenity wash over me.
This place felt like a sanctuary, a place where love and memories intertwined, and I knew that it held a special place in Ezra's heart… and I could clearly see why.
Lily helped shape Ezra into the man he was today and even though her loss was a sad event, she was still a part of Ezra that I wanted to figure out. Who was he before I met him? Who was the man that Lily had fallen for?
Part of me yearned to live in this enchanting place with him, to create new memories and fill it with our love.
The idea of waking up to the stunning view of the mountains every morning felt like a dream I never wanted to wake up from.
Yet, guilt gnawed at me like a persistent ache. I knew that Ezra had loved Lily deeply, even before I came into his life.
Their love story had already been written before I arrived, and I couldn't help but feel like an interloper here, intruding on a love that had once been so pure and sacred. I felt like an intruder in their love story, a chapter that was never meant to be written.
